I've been playing an awful lot (too much if you ask my wife) of The Old Republic, which is the inspiration for my current diorama. I've also been buying (what little there are) of Old Republic figures, I decided to take my customising to next level and increase my Old Republic cast of figures.
I thought the place to start was designing and creating my character from the game. May I introduce Kyle Randor, I hope you like him!
-
Very Cool and welcome aboard!
-
Cool custom figure!
Welcome to the 'Yards.
-
I like it. Off to share.
-
Just a brief update, I am working on my next custom, since I have a spare body and head from my last custom. For those Shipyarder's who play The Old Republic, I have created my character from the game, I am now using the left overs to create Doc. As you can see the repaint is almost complete, he just needs a shave!
-
He got the shave he was so desperate for and his goatee applied! Welcome Doc!
-
Nice, off to share.
-
After taking a little time off, I wanted to show you guys some works in progress with my SWTOR customs. After completing my Sith Temple, I took Tamer's suggestion to fill it with Sith. I invested in some Apoxy sculpt and thought it was time to create some true blood Sith's. They are not complete but you can see where I am going with this and for those who play SWTOR as a Jedi Sentinal, you (hopefully) will recognize one of the characters.
Sorry for the photo's being the wrong way round, there weren't like that on the pc lol.
Richard
-
I have yet to name, the other two right now. I would welcome any suggestions and yes I have considered Darth Destro or Darth Stro.
I was wondering if anyone in the yards had any spare R2 legs? I would like to make a T&-01 and hopefully (if I can get 4 legs) a T3-M4, I have hunted through ebay and cannot find any at a reasonable price. Can any of you help?
Thanks
Richard
-
Nice update. Off to share. These are gonna look great in your new Sith Temple.
-
Love the Sith! :D *wink wink* glad that more and more are doing TOR customs! :)
-
Thanks CloneTroopr, I love playing the game and have been hating the fact that produced figures are so few and really hard/expensive to come by!
Last night before heading out I added another layer of to all, thinking that they were finished until I looked at them this morning. I really have to work on their eyes lol! I had a slight accident with the hooded lord, while putting his cape on, it snapped one of this eyebrow tendrils, to be honest I kind of like that way, gives him a battle scar.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of Lord Scourge, Darth Stro (guess who's body was used lol) and my hooded Sith Lord.
I have included a special photo just for Tamer. As requested, a Sith Temple filled with Sith lords, a bounty hunter and 2 HK-50's.
Enjoy
Richard
-
They look great to me! Off to share. And thanks for the special picture. It looks good on our pages.
-
Really nice job on the pure-blood Sith. They are a brilliant addition to your temple. Excellent work!
-
Sorry I have not posted much recently, my wife is due to have an operation next week to have a tumour removed, so we have been getting ready for that.
I did manage to get the chance to add some finishing touches to my Sith pure bloods, adding a little gold really does pick up some feature. I am starting to work on a Sergeant Rusk and a Republic trooper. I'll post there development as soon as.
I love posting here and talking to fellow shipyarders about our work and I will keep posting and sharing here too. I have put together a Facebook page as a portfolio of my work, it contains more detailed pictures of my builds and figures. I get carried away with taking pictures of my stuff and didn't want to bore you guys to much lol. If you would like to have a look, you will find it here: https://www.facebook.com/richardscreativeworkshop/.
I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks
Richard
-
They look good, off to share your news!
-
Finally got round t doing another couple of SWTOR customs. I found a someone on eBay who did awesome Republic Trooper helmets. After dremmeling the clone troopers face down, it fits like a glove and goes well with the clone trooper. Obviously I styled it on the 2012 Trooper release (wish they didn't cost an absolute fortune now!)
Sergeant Rusk is another obvious clone trooper repaint with Mas Amedda's head dremmeled on.
I hope you enjoy the pictures, the rest of them can be found on:
https://www.facebook.com/richardscreativeworkshop/
Thanks
Richard
-
Some really cool customs ! Keep them coming !
-
Thanks Mr Jedi1977. I'm still feeling my way around, learning new techniques, which works best.
-
I agree, very nice. Time to give this update and your FB Page a shout out.
-
This is a nice update. Good job on the Trooper, but I really like how the Chagrian turned out.
-
Hi all.
Not much of an update but I've managed to start work on T7-01. I've created a body from foam core, which you can tell at the moment is held together wit masking tape. I will be making the back wheel struts out of adhesive but for the moment a couple of pieces of foam and cocktail sticks.
Like I said, its not much but he is starting to take shape.
-
Looks like you are off to a good start.
-
Looking forward to the finished project - its looking good so far.
-
On the front pages.
-
Update
I have managed to do an update wit my T7-01 droid. Using apoxy sculpt, I have sculpted the droids head, I also used it to redesign his rear wheel and carriage instead of using foam board. I have used a straw for his eye piece, while wrapping it in sculpt. I also used some for the droids chest.
Now to leave it for 24 hours before putting him together.
I hope you like his development!
Richard
-
While I was waiting for T7-01 to start drying, I have also starting on making Kira. As you can guess, I am using Gi-Joe Scarlett as my base, I have taken her pony tail off and using Apoxy Sculpt I have given her a new hair do and hopefully it is similar to hair style she has in the game. I have sculpted over her gloves because if you know this figure, she has shurikens embedded into the sculpt. I have also given her a fabric embedded belt.
Once she is dry, she will be given a full paint job, cloak and (when it arrives) her signature double bladded saber.
I hope you enjoy the development of this character.
Richard
-
T7-01 has his chassis put together, it just needs fixing into place. A couple of licks of paint and he'll be good to go!
What do you think?
Richard
-
Looking good to me. Off to share.
-
Update
First coat of paint added!
-
Off to share the latest!
-
Update
With T7-01 I am now in the process of applying a dark grey coating to him, leaving certain silver area's exposed. I have noticed the silver base coat is giving the grey a metallic shine to it.
While his head was drying, I started to apply a first coat of paint to Kira, using (and I think because I'm colour blind (please someone tell me!)) a light brown on her armour pieces & gloves, light grey boots and her red for her hair. I'm not sure whether the brown really works on her legs or would either a grey or gold would be better? Being colour blind really sucks at times like these!
Then finally!
No SWTOR group would be complete without its very own HK droid. I managed to get my hands on a cheap Build a Droid HK-50 and since I have recently acquired my own in the game, this one had to be done!
I have completely repainted him with a base coat of silver and dremmeled an alcove into his chest for his "arc reactor".
I hope you like them
Richard
-
Great update, off to share!
-
I have finally finished off my HK-51 and T7-01 droids.
I am pleased with how T7 has turned out because I have built him from scratch and only used a pair of astromech legs. If I was to do him again, I know what I would differently but I think he looks great, especially along side his master and his team.
HK-51 has been a simply repaint but still is awesome.
I hope you like them too.
Richard
-
Here are some pictures of HK-51.
-
Hi all
Last but not least I have finished Kira, she's had to borrow Bastilla Shan's lightsaber while I wait for my glass paints to arrive. I have a spare double bladed sabre but it has red blades, not the perfect fit for a jedi lol.
Let me know what you think?
I've included a quick group photo of the Outsider and his crew.
Hope you enjoy them.
Richard
-
Nice, time to take this to the front page.
-
Kira looks great and you did a really nice job on T7. I really wish that Hasbro had done some more figures from the video and online games - there's a wealth of great characters and popular species that they could have provided.
-
After finishing my Jedi Ghosts project, its time to crack on with my next project a SWTOR custom Sith Trooper. A taken a 2008 Saga Legends Snow Trooper and disassembled him. I even cut away his helmet to build his helmet, thinking that I wouldn't need to use all of it.
I got some Greenstuff and built onto his torso armour, belt and adding extra armour to his legs.
His helmet, I have used more greenstuff but realized that I needed the part of the original helmet that I cut off. Covering the helmet in greenstuff, I stuck the helmet back together and then started to carve out the new helmet to resemble a Sith Trooper.
New boots and gauntlets need to be made next before piecing him back together.
-
I have loosely fitted him back together and realized a couple of things:
1) To make his belt fit, I will have to trim his armour down at the bottom or cut away the back of the belt and fit it on top of the armour.
2) I made his helmet too big! After all the time sculpting his helmet yesterday, I have built it for 6" figure. Now its cured, I might be able to trim/sand parts down. Or I have to bite the bullet and sculpt a new smaller helmet!
-
You are off to a great start. Off to share.
-
Thanks Tamer
-
Last night was spent sanding and trimming round the troopers helmet but as you can see, I only managed to trim a little off the bottom to give it an angular look. I also trimmed the bottom of his waist and belt so I am able to fit him back together again. I still need to make his gauntlets and boots before applying any paint to him. I am still unsure about the helmet, do I stay with this or make a smaller one?
-
Nice to see your progress.
Not sure what to tell you about the helmet. Maybe get the armor on the body all done and see what you think?
-
Looking good.... the helmet might be a little big though.... Whats the green stuff? Is it like sculpey? And does it cure on its own or do you have to bake it?
My printer is down for a bit so i may try and do some figures while i am waiting for parts.
-
The green stuff is called Greenstuff, it is like sculpey, I covered the Snowtroopers helmet with it and molded it over. Due to the amount of detail on the helmet, the helmet got bigger. It wasn't until it cured that I realized the problem I now have! I think it is going to have to be the case that I sculpt a new but smaller helmet.
-
The helmet looks good but too big. Like bobble head porportions too big but the figure looks good
-
Ha ha I know Krztfr, when I started making the helmet it was a lot smaller. As I started to add the definition I needed more room on the helmet and next thing I know, the helmet is the right size for a 6 inch figure.
Today I worked on his legs and arms, again using Green stuff to create the troopers armour. I'm leaving the helmet/rebuild until I have completed the work on the trooper.
I suddenly had wanted to see what he would look like with a Lego Sith Trooper's helmet, I know a fellow customizer used a Lego Troopers helmet for his figure and I suddenly wanted to see what it would look like. Is it me or does this actually work?!?
What do you think?
-
Here are a couple more shots with his stolen helmet!
-
Looks a lot closer to me. Off to share your latest progress.
-
I was looking at the Lego Sith Trooper's Toms helmet and thought to myself that I've pulled apart this Snowtrooper, rebuilt his armour and now I'm going to stick a Lego helmet on his head. I've got this far and that just felt like cheating a little, so I decided to cast the Toms helmet and make it a little larger. Something I have only done once before and that was making bones for my Rancor pit.
After taking the initial mold, I carved into the cast and made the helmet deeper and extending the face plate a little. It turned out rather well and Tom is happy because he gets his helmet back ;)!
I also added extra pieces onto his armour, extra bits onto his gauntlets, he just needs a little sand down and then I think he'll be ready to paint!
-
Looks perfect to me too. Cool fix on making it a tad bigger. Off to share.
-
Great work mate.
Ron
-
Thank you Ron and Tamer, I think overall work on the figure is complete, I just need to work on his backpack before painting him.
-
Looking really good! Cant wait to see the final result!
-
Not much of an update but last night, I applied my the first coat of paint to him and while he was drying I started to work on the troopers back pack, the backpack need a little more work doing to but its taking form.
This morning I awoke a little earlier than I expected. So while making my morning cup of tea I popped the halves into a jug of boiling water, then popped him back together again. I've been dying to see what he looks like all fitted together!
He kind of reminds me of the concept Darth Vader by Ralph McQuarrie!
-
Looking really good! Cant wait to see the final result!
Thanks mate!
-
Looks like you are getting there. Lots of work on this one!
-
Last night, I carried on with the backpack, re-using the Snow troopers existing backpack and sculpting it into the Sith Troopers using Green Stuff. Once its dry, I will use my rotary tool to sand it down, neaten it up and then paint it.
The trooper himself, well as you can see I set to work painting this bad boy up, need to finish his helmet off, add another layer of red, adding in the finishing details to his armour then followed by adding the Sith insignia to his helmet and shoulders.
-
Great progress. Off to share the latest
-
I have finally finished my Sith Trooper this morning! I woke up at some ridiculous hour and used the time to complete this project. Painting his backup and adding the final touches to this character.
He has now joined my other custom SWTOR characters, trying to defend the Sith in the their temple.
There are more pictures on my Facebook page.
I hope you have enjoyed the transformation of what was a Snowtrooper into this Sith Troopper!
-
While I was creating the Sith Trooper, I acquired the twin pack of Kanan and Ezra Bridger in Stormtrooper cadets uniform. The figure of Kanan looked like a cheap knock off and since I already own a Kanan I thought this new figure needed an upgrade!
I have become a fan of the Rebels series and particularly loved the final episode of Season 2 which ties in my love for The Old Republic. For those of you who haven't seen it (shame on you!) but beware this next bit is a huge spoiler for the end!
The upgrade of my figure is based on the final duel between Maul and Kanan, after Kanan is blinded by Maul and locates a very old Temple Guards mask. While creating the armour for my Sith Trooper, I had some Green Stuff left over and thought that this would be perfect to create the Temple Guards mask.
Once it dried, I painted it white, used yellow for the detail on the mask, and desert sand for a wash over the mask to try and weather it.
There are more pictures on my Facebook page.
I hope you like it.
-
Great Finish work on the Sith Trooper. Off to share.
I am liking the Kanan too. I will get that one shared soon.
-
Love the Sith trooper! But I think you need a whole army of these guys to properly defend the temple from the Jedi.
-
The Sith trooper turned out really well - excellent work on a cool figure design. Nice job on the head sculpt for Kanan, he looks really good.
-
Kanan looks really good ! Would like to see your take on a bearded version of him from the season 3 traier ;D
-
Thanks everyone, the bearded version of Kanan is on my list of things to do. Got a dio with a custom paint job I would like to do next before that.
Now the paints dry, the weathered effect works a lot. I've added a picture of my rebels with Kanan and his mask 24 hours after painting it.
Enjoy
-
Got your Kanan shared yesterday too. Nice work, keep it coming!
-
Thanks Tamer
-
Good morning
You might have seen a couple of weeks ago, I posted on Facebook a picture of my custom Shadows of the Empire Luke Skywalker, sporting his waistcoat. This weekend after a very busy couple of weeks, I finally got round to painting him. The base figure is a Jedi with a black hand, I have had to repaint all of his skin.
It's a very quick and simple custom, but its one I've always wanted to so since the figure range came out back in 1997.
Looking at the photo I have just taken this morning, I need to touch up his hand. Must have caught when I put his hand back in this morning! I'll touch it up tonight for final pictures.
-
Looks great to me. Off to share. He also looks to be full on arty too.
-
Thanks Tamer, he used to be Sandstorm Luke, I found him on eBay with just a sabre.
-
I though I recognized one of the Sandstorm figures.
-
I never bothered with them when they first came out. Wish I had done now!
Final pictures of my completed Shadows of the Empire Luke Skywalker
-
Looks good to me. Back to the front page.
-
Here are a few updates on figure that I have been working on.
After completing SOTE Luke, I couldn't resist doing a Lando in Stormtrooper outfit as found in the final issue of SOTE comic back in 1996. Its just very quick head swap.
The second is is a complete repaint of Luminara Unduli as the unnamed Jedi Consular that was produced by Lego. I swapped put her brown skirt for a white piece of cloth and super glued it to her waist.
-
I am currently working on three random SWTOR background figures, the first is a repaint and retooling of a Padme figure, I have cut off her pony tail, then dremmeled her head so I can start sculpting her new head tendrils.
The second is a repaint of Doda Bodonawieedo (who will be used as a bartendar for my cantina diorama) and the other is a combination of 1995 Han Solo and Ceremonial Luke Skywalker. Once I have finished with the repaint of this figure, I will start sculpting new head gear for him.
-
Nice seeing an update. Looking forward to the final versions. I am so out of internet time this morning!
-
Last night I finally got around to sculpting the new parts for these figures. Using Greenstuff, I have created the tendrils for my Twi'lek smuggler and hat, googles and shoulder pad for my human smuggler. Once they have cured, I'll be using my rotary tool to short the brim on the hat and neaten the shoulder pad, the inspiration for that was a combination of Kyle Katarn's and a variety of outfits from SWTOR.
-
Looking good.
-
The past few days I have turned my hand to customising Playmates 90’s Star Trek figures.
Captain Sulu - Generations Kirk + ST1 Sulu
Generations Riker - Riker + DS9 Sisko + DS9 series 4 Sisko
Work in progress Klingon Worf - Generations Worf + TNG Gowron.
-
They look great!
- Philipp
-
Thanks Philipp
-
I agree, very nice. Off to share.
-
The SWTOR figures are coming along great and wow I haven't seen Playmates Trek figure customs for years and they are perfect well done indeed.
Ron
-
Thanks Ron, after finishing the Guardian of Forever diorama, I came across some of my spare Playmates figures and thought it was about time to put them to good use.
Worf is completed and so are my SWTOR figures.
Hope you like them!
-
Very nice. I really like the Old Republic ones. Off to share the update.
-
Final photos of my custom Star Trek Romulan Commander and Vulcan citizen.
Sorry for them being sideways, did this in a rush and not had chance to format them correctly.

Nice job on the ST figures. They look "official". I would've believed them as legit releases.

We are bring out your in Trekkie Shawn!
-
Well I love all things sci fi, but yes here lately I sure am getting in touch with my Trek side.
-
You can't beat a bit of Trek especially with Discovery on at the moment. Found a guy on Facebook who does awesome customs with the Playmates figures. He has recently completed his custom Discovery crew using the old Star Trek movie figures. Look up Star Trek Customs, they are brilliant!
I'm waiting on a delivery on a couple of Kenner '94 Aliens and Predator figures and going to whip up a small dio for them.

Looks good, I'm curious to see the final product.

So am I Starchaser lol

It's been a while since I posted any custom figures, after the past few that I have done I felt like I needed to practice and master some techniques of painting figures. With the release of the Warhammer 40K: Conquest magazine which every week you get a paint and some miniatures, I thought this would be perfect to try out and master. Now I know this is for custom figures and what I am about to post isn't really customising to what normally goes on here but I am doing it anyway.
Buying this magazine, a couple of White Dwarf magazines and even going to my local Games Workshop Store (which has cost me a fortune in paints and models :) ) for a painting lesson, which I found very useful since I have never worked with GW paints before.
I think I am starting to getting the hang of this! I have created a page on my site which contains more images of the ones I've done, doing and stuff I have going on so please check them out. I am also thinking of doing a couple of Warhammer 40K dio's in the future to accommodate this new collection.
The pictures below are a few of my first ever Warhammer 40K paint jobs, which for a first timer aren't bad, if I don't say so myself ;). The marines with the black bases are currently WIP, I did a bit of paint work to them while still on spur. Really need to practice the eyes though, which I was given a great tip for. Before doing any work on the heads, start painting the eyes first :o! It's so simple yet I never thought about it that way - D'oh!!
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Well yeah, we mainly focus on action figures, but this is definitely customizing in my book too.
Your work on these is fantastic. I think painting in such a small detail would than make action figure work easier? Anyhow your results are awesome.
Off to share this too.
-
Your work on these is fantastic. I think painting in such a small detail would than make action figure work easier?
So cool
Amazing detail.
and ....
It’s definitely customizing 👍🏻
Back in college, way waaaayyy before action figures, i used to painte metal Ral Partha Dungeons and Dragons figures. That’s when my eyes could see that kind of detail.
I picked up the brush again when my son came home with a set of Warhammer Goblins and Dwarves. Those Warhammer sites have hundreds of on-line painting tutorials.
You can really hone your skills with 1/72.
-
Thanks guys it is why I started to paint these, even though I would buy them when I was back at college waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the myths of time. I also had Hero Quest but I never painted them, I would give them to mates to do, now I look back and wished I had but hey ho!
I finished painting the Tactical Marines last night, I just need to add some colour tone to their bases and add the transfers before delcaring them done and move on to my Orks and Imperial knight.
God is this addictive!
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
With results like these I can see why they are addicting. Off to share this new update.
-
Wow, your Spacemarines look awesome! And I know what you mean! My brother and I used to play 40k, too! But time ran out for us. He played the Ultra Marines and I had some Ork Boyz.
Your paint job looks excellent and I really like the base plates, too! Good memories here...that's a nice addiction to have.
My brother actually has some Space Marines on sale now - 5 sets of different troops like Scouts, Terminators and more - 4 of them are still sealed. I can send you pictures, if you are interested!
- Philipp
-
Nice job on the Warhammer. I'm not a player or painter, but my son is. He's got a Space Marine unit he's working on too (though right now he's mostly working on Astra Militarium and Bretonians from Fantasy).

That would be great mate! Sorry I have not replied sooner, I've just been really busy.

Thanks Starchaser. I've just finished a few more which I'll post in the next couple of days including a Transformer G1 inspired Imperial Knight.

This I am particularly proud of!
Since I started painting Warhammer miniatures, my 8 year old daughter expressed interest in painting some too. In this thread I will posting her updates on my new army of Marines done to her own style. She has completed one already (see 2nd picture)
https://www.facebook.com/richardscreativeworkshop/posts/2028899997172972 (https://www.facebook.com/richardscreativeworkshop/posts/2028899997172972)
-
Now that is pretty cool. Your daughter paints great!
I like that Transformer Marine too. Off to share both updates.
-
She's 8! That's an awesome! You are definitely a great influence on her. Go Daddy! Now if I can only get my 6 and 4 year old to do the same.
-
Son of a gun
Your daughter has a sharp eye and a steady hand.
She’s a bit more advanced than ‘coloring book’ level.
-
Nice job on this new round. Brilliant job to your daughter too! Congratulate her all for us. And excellent job as a teacher to you as well:)
-
Thank you everyone for you kind words I will pass them on to her, it will make her day.
Before I go away for a couple of days to my Step-daughters wedding, here are few pictures of my latest lieutenant and some completed terrain I have on the go to.

-
Wow, that's a huge update! The Cybot looks incredible! I like the Marine in red armor and the golden helmet, too! Don't worry about the reply! I'll send you a PM...
- Philipp
-
I am really enjoying this WarHammer Stuff. Man you are getting good at painting in such small detail. I am using readers to just be able to type the words on this screen. I don't know how you do it.
Off to share.
-
Thanks Shawn, I am really enjoying painting these and hope to get better at it, which will help me with painting my dios and custom figures. Don't know why I never did this years ago!
-
I can definitely see how this would play huge dividends in your other custom and diorama work.
-
The past couple of days have been really busy with work so I've been relaxing on an evening painting more Warhammer 40K miniatures. I've finished my G1 Optimus Prime inspired Imperial Knight Paladin, started some more Poxwalkers, put together another Space Marine and started painting another Plague Marine. Which I've put against my first one I painted as a comparison (he's still a WIP!)
There are more pictures on my website, especially of the knight with all of his transfers.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/updates/
-
Last night I received some layering paints so I can take my figures to another level. As you can see by three of my Poxwalkers who I need to repaint, I still need some practice lol.
I also spent a little time touching up my Knight while also trying out my new compound paints to add a wonderful dry brush layer of detail to one wall of my Imperial Ruin set (the wall running diagonal in the picture).
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Wow, looks great to me. I like them.
Off to share.
-
I can only agree with Tamer: Your painting skills are phenomenal! I especially like all the different Cybot designs! You have so many different miniatures and units, which I didn't know, yet. That's yet another reason why I really enjoy this series!
Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend!
- Philipp
-
Thank you guys, it means a lot!
I've been working on different on different Warhammer characters this weekend, learning how to use layer paints on different characters, using compound paints on the terrain and just amazed with the difference these makes. Will be using these on my stone dioramas next!
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Here's a closer look at the completed Imperial Terrain, I used the Citidel Necron Compound paint to dry brush it over all of the gold and metal, I dry brushed Longbeard grey over the grey of the walls. The results speak for themselves.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/sector-imperials-ruins/
-
I really like the paint job on this one! It looks outstanding. I thought about what it might take to build something like this for 1/18 scale figures, but I don't have the room (or probably the patience).
-
Thanks Starchaser, I thought that once I got these and a couple more commissions out of the way, I would try my hand at Warhammer game boards.
Last night I was able to finish of the 10 Poxwalkers, a Plague Marine, an Intercessor and a Reiver Marine. Them down but plenty more to go lol. As you can see with the two marines I have been tinkering with shading using paints, getting there slowly with it.
There are more pictures on my website, especially individual ones of the Poxwalkers.

Yepper, they definitely all look great. Your painting is really getting good.
Off to share.
-
Great paint work on those Warhammer pieces!
-
I really like how the Primaris Rievers turned out. Excellent paint work!
-
I remember a few years ago playing the CD ROM game for WarHammer 40K. It was great fun. I liked the powers the upper echelon characters had and you even got to play em a bit. It kind of reminded me of a souped up Starcraft.
-
I never played anything Warhammer related until recently, now I'm addicted to playing Freeblade on the iPhone.
While having a very busy weekend, I still found time to complete another Plague Marine and 2 more Poxwalkers. I think I am starting to get the hang with the layer paints on hte Poxwalkers.

Nice and gruesome. Off to share your update.
-
Some more WIP Death Guard for your perusal.

-
Wow, even more gruesome. It is definitely the right time of year too. off to share the latest.
-
I finished painting my latest Plague Marine the other night, here he is next to the first one I painted a month ago. After taking the picture of the pair of them, I went back and touched up his stomach mouth while adding a light coat of Screaming Pink around his face to pick up the highlights.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#plague
-
The colors are really popping on this one. Gruesome. I like it. Off to share.
-
I agree with Shawn.
The paintjob is amazing.
Some of those figures (especially the last one) are really creepy (in a good way).
Excellent work!
-
Thanks FialaFernbrugg.
This weekend I went over one of the Poxwalkers I was not happy, I applied two thin layers of Flayed One Flesh, when this had dried I highlighted his body using Pallid Wych Flesh to pick out the detail on his body. In the picture the top two are before and after completion while the bottom picture is with his twin I still have to finish.
With the two Reivers and Intercessor I've added red to the eyes, painted the Reivers skull masks and coated all of them in the layer of Nuil oil, which produces a loveky effect around the Reivers helmets.
To finish off I completed the paint job on my sixth Plague Marine.

Very nice. Off to share the latest.
-
Last night I finished adding applied two thin layers of Flayed One Flesh, when this had dried I highlighted their bodies using Pallid Wych Flesh to pick out the detail on their bodies.
I've added pictures of them against the first ones that I have done to see difference between them.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#poxwalkers
-
I am liking the painting on these. I am thinking of getting a few WarHammer 40K books after seeing all these great updates. Off to share.
-
Thanks Shawn, then I hope you like these!
I had to do another paint run to my local GW store after watching a couple of Warhammer how to guides I had to get some more paints to make these guys stand out.
Like the previous Poxwalkers before I applied two thin layers of Flayed One Flesh, when this had dried I highlighted his body using Pallid Wych Flesh to pick out the detail on his body. Used Bugman's Glow for the boils with a layer of Seraphim Sepia or Nurgles Grot (depending).
The tentacles I shaded them Druchii Violet, once that had dried a layer of Rakarth Flesh over the top but not into the recesses of the tentacles and then edge highlighted them with Pallid Wych Flesh.
For their belts and pouches I used a combination of Eshin Grey and Dawnstone, for thr loin cloths/pants a layer of Dawnstone and edge highlights using Administratum Grey.
I have taken pictures with the previous ones I have done before as a comparison, hope you like them. The ones on the right are the miniatures I have just finished, a sort of before and after kinda thing.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#poxwalkers
-
Next up is the Intercessor I have been working on, I did the edge highlights using a Fenrisian Grey with a fine tipped brush also doing the same with the Reivers. I still need to work on the steady hand when doing fine detail like this.
With their weapons I used a hand drill to drill out their gun barrels before applying a thin layer of Nuln Oil to their guns. When it dry I dry brushed Stormhost Silver over them to pick out the details of their weapons.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Yepper those Poxwalkers looks absolutely hideous. You have painted up great detail. Like the new Marine too. Off to share both updates.
-
I came across a bag of Warhammer miniatures in a charity shop. After opening the bag I found many where in need of a complete paint job. Here is the first of many repaints from that bag, a 5th edition Terminator Sergeant.
I repainted his armour with macragge blue, using my thin layer brush at a 45 degree angle I went over all the edgers using Calgar blue, once dry I went over some the edges again with Fenrisian Grey to make them stand out more. Looking at his back I need to tidy it up using macragge to even it out.
With the blue done, it was time to go over his emblems with a base coat of retributor armour, then a shade of reikland flesh (which helps to pick up the recesses of his badges, followed by a layer of Balthasar Gold.
For his weapon, air vents, kilt, borg eye piece and pipes I coated them with leadbelcher, a shade of Nuln oil followed up with Stormhosts Silver for edge highlighting, using the technique of holding the brush at a 45 degree angle.
For his face I used Bugman's glow, dru brushed over with Screaming Pink and then Palid Wych Flesh.
His knee I applied a couple of layers of ceramic white and the parchment on his side was a combination of Rakerth flesh as a base coat, with a shade of Agrax Earthshade and a layer of zandri dust.
The base was already done but I added a small patch of sand with small patches of foliage on either side with a little Agrax Earthshade over the top.
Quite impressed I was able to complete him in one evening.

I bet its just my computer, but I don't seem to see the images. I will check back in here later and share your update when I get the images.

Sorry my fault I forgot to add the pictures lol, got distracted at work this morning 🤦???
-
Got em that time. Looks good. Off to share.

Last night I had been looking at the first group of Poxwalkers I had painted and I just wasn't happy with them so I decided to give two Poxwalkers I had previously finished a make over. I went over the skins of both walkers applying two thin layers of Flayed One Flesh, when this had dried I highlighted their bodies using Pallid Wych Flesh to pick out the detail on their bodies. When the had dried and thin layer of Agrax Earthshade to dull the last coat and for the shade to sit within the recesses of their bodies.
With the coat I went over it using Drakenhof Nightshade, then when dry I layered using Eshin Grey edge highlighted using Administratum Grey.
The boils and maggots I used Seraphim Sepia and then finally dry brushed Stormhost silve over his weapon and the other walkers arm.
I also base coated Lieutenants Calsius with Aboddon black and added the first coat of Macragge blue to his armour.
The first picture is what one of the walkers used to look like.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#poxwalkers
-
Nice. Off to share the update.
-
Wow, you keep churning them out. Really nice work on these figures.
-
Thanks Starchaser. I bought a couple of boxes of these on top of the ones I receive with Warhammer: Conquest magazine, as you can see I have quite a few to get through lol. As my technique gets better I'm also starting to go back on the ones I started a month ago to improve them, as you can see with the pictures below.
-
Looks good.
-
Your figures are getting better and better.
Excellent work.
-
Good morning all
For the past few days I have been slowly working on my latest Marine Lieutenant Calsius. So far I have given him a base coat of Macragge blue, Retributor Armour for his shoulder trims, chest emblem, on his sword and leaf emblems on his left knee and shoulder pad, Aboddon Black for behind his knees, crotch, head and sword. When the Retributor Armour had dried, I gave it a shade of Reikland Fleshshade and then a gentle wash of Auric Armour Gold when that had dried. While that was drying I applied Leadbelcher to his unsheathed part of his sword, his com unit around his head, air vents on his backpack. A coat of Gunman's Blow for his face and Averland Sunset for his hair. With his Ultramarine logos on his armour I have given them a base coat of of Celestra Grey and a layer of Rakarth Flesh as a base coat for the two parchments hanging off his armour.
Still got some more work to do with this guy before he is done.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#officers
-
Wow. Nice work. Let me go share some of it.
You are really getting good with those small details.
-
Thanks Shawn ;D
-
Last night I found a little time to work on my marine.
Turning to the gold parts of his armour I used Liberator Gold for edge highlighting, making sure I didn't go into the recess and paint over the fleshshade I did the other day.
I wasn't happy about the emblem on his knee, I painted over the kneecap with Celestra Grey, while this was drying I went over the over Ultramarine logos with Drakenhof Nightshade. I used Agrax Earthshade on his hair and Nuil Oil on his headset. A watered down layer of Rhinox Hide was added to his hair. Turning back to kneecap, I applied the Nightshade, followed by applying White Scar on top after it had dried and doing the same to the other logos. When his kneecap had dried I went over the logo with Macragge Blue.
For his sword, I edge highlighted the gold using Liberator Gold, the blade with light Leadbelcher and edge highlighted with Stormhost Silver on the blade and the scabbard.
His face I tried to do a light layer of Pallid Wych Flesh, then over the top with Flayed One Flesh, Pallid Wych Flesh for the eyeballs with Rhinox Hide for the pupils. Not sure that they turned out OK, so please let me know.
The parchments I added a shade of Agrax Earthshade, edged it with Pallid Wych Flesh and followed up with White Scar.
To finish off last nights work I've added a couple of grass turfs to his base.
I still need to add the finishing touches to his armour and tidy up any mistakes, hoping to have him done by tomorrow.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#officers
-
Oh yeah, I can see the new work. You are really paying extremely close attention to detail. Off to share.
Now if only Facebook would fix their posting images problem.
-
Very cool
-
Last night I finished off Lieutenant Calsius but edge highlighting all of his edges with two watered down coats of Calgar Blue, then went over them again with a couple of coats of Fenrisian Grey. Any mistakes I went over them with Macragge Blue to neaten him up. For the black areas I edge highlighted with a couple of layers of Eshin Grey and then with Dawnstone. For his base I painted over the sand with Agrax Earthshade.
Looking at the finished figure I still need more practice with the human face, especially the eyes. I have plenty more of these guys to practice on!
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#officers
-
It looks pretty good to me. Off to share.
Facebook even let me share pictures today.
-
Thanks Shawn
It’s better than what it did to me, it’s brought up an older picture of him to view ::)
-
Facebook seems to be loosing it lately. I was just able to post pictures back to our page yesterday morning.
-
I know what you mean, I use Blog2social and that's forever getting the pictures wrong on Facebook.
With 4 Poxwalker repaints still to do, I have put them to one side for a moment while a box of Orks and Marine Intercessors where calling out to be taken out of the box and put together. Last night I have managed to put together a box of Ork Gretchin, four more marine Intercessors along with a Marine Hero (blind pack exclusive)
Base coat has been added to the four intercessors

Oh yeah, getting some work done on some Marines. Very nice.
Off to share the latest.
-
Here are some more that I'm bringing to life.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
I've built two more Intercessors and an Ork, base coated them and started painting the Orks skin. I've also gone back to a Plague Marine to finish off the trim on his armour and rotting flesh of his tentacles.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Having a spare hour last night I set too layering the skin's of two more Poxwalkers, starting with 2 thin layers of Flayed One Flesh, followed with the final layers of Pallid Wych Flesh. The first picture is with the Flayed Flesh layer
With them dying I started on my latest Plague Marine a Noxious Blightbringer, giving him his base coat.
To finish off I applied a layer of Agrax Earthshade to my Ork.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/orks/#gretchin
-
I thought I would give GW's air paints ago and oh my word why didn't I do this earlier! It's so much quicker and a lot cheaper than buying their Chaos black spray can. Boy do I love my airbrush, best thing I bought this year!
Within half an hour I was able to base coat a lot of miniatures along with the Basilica, just need to purchase Macrabe blue, Death Guard Green and Waaagh! Flesh in air paints and I'll be a happy painter lol!
After base coating a small army I went back to my two Poxwalkers and Plague Marine, with their tentacles I used watered down Rakarth Flesh to layer over the work I did the other night and then Pallid Wych Flesh to edge highlight them. Armageddon Dust for the Poxwalkers stands with brown round them, which leaves my two remaining walkers left to do.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/
-
After finishing off them, I moved over the intercessors and Terminator, I started the other night, adding Retributor Armour to their chest emblems, shoulder pad trims weapon emblems and the Sergeants eyes.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
I really like those Intercessors and Terminators. The paint job is looking brilliant.
-
Wow, talk about a ton of great work here. Off to share!
-
Thanks Shawn
This weekend my wife had me painting our front room but as you know, you can only go as fast as the paint the dries. So while waiting for the paint to dry, you can guess what I was up to :-)
Before I start layering the marines armour, I wanted to concentrate on some of finer details with their heads, especially the human faces and eyes in particular. As you know customising a 3.5 or even a 6 inch figure getting the eyes right is difficult, more so with these guys. I was taught a trick, paint the eyes black and then a couple of drops of white in the each corner. As you can see, I still need practice lol.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
I have done some more work on my Ork, applying Agrax Earthshade over his skin, the layer of Warboss green and then edged with Skarsnik green and the same with his pet. Leadbleacher on all his metallic surfaces, black and white checks on his gloves and warplock bronze in places around his clothing.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/orks/
-
I also started 2 more Intercessors and a Space Marine Hero all in
Smurf Ultramarine colours. Using the painting process as I have used with the others, these three are almost in the same place as my others.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
I think you are definitely getting better painting the faces. Neat trick with the black.
I am really liking that Orc. Off to share the latest.
-
Thanks Shawn.
Just a quick update, I've not had a lot of time recently because my wife thought it was a good idea to redecorate our front room before Christmas ::)
Before I went to bed last night I stupidly sat down in front of these guys then I picked up a paint brush and turned to the Ork. I gave the teeth of him and his creature a covering of Zandri dust, followed by a shade of Seraphim Sepia (who thinks up these names!!) and then a layer of Ushabti bone.
For his wrappings on his staff and gun I have used Mournfang brown as a base coat.
Please excuse the pictures it was very early this morning with really bad lighting.
With Brother Garus, I have used (so far) Averland Sunset as a base coat for his hair and shaded it with Seraphim Sepia, I'm going to see how that has worked when I get some more light on him lol.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/orks/#gretchin
-
I also started tweaking 3 other Intercessors, the bald headed one, I gave his helmet another coat of ceramic white along with his knee cap, when his helmet dried I shaded it with Agrax Earthshade and it's eyes another coat of Evil Sunz Scarlet.
The red helmet marine I shaded his helmet with Agrax Earthshade as well. The knife bearing marine, I gave his eyes another coat of Evil Sunz Scarlet and his rifle a touch of leadbealcher.
Again, sorry about the pictures.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
Very nice. I like that Orc update too.
Off to share.
-
Mate you are killing it with these 40K pieces they all look awesome.
Ron
-
Thanks pal ;D
-
I was off for a couple of days last week and got some serious painting done, trying to finish a load of miniatures completed before Christmas.
With my Intercessors I completed the edging on them all using Calagar blue followed by Fensisian Grey, Armageddon dust on their stands with a coat of Agrax Earthshade and grass turfs supplied from Green Stuff.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
A couple more pictures.
With my Marine hero I followed the recipe as the Intercessors, but with his stand I used Mechanicus Standard grey as the base and dry brushed Longbeard Grey over the stone, Rhinox brown for the mud with a touch of Agrax Earthshade. All gold was with Retributor Armour, Agrax and then Necron Compound dry brushed over the top and the silver was done with Leadbelcher, null oil and then Necron Compound.
Completed the Terminator following the Ultramarine recipe

I completed my final two Poxwalkers off.

Excellent work.

Thanks everyone.
Still having 3 Intercessors left to paint from the last box set, I wanted to get these painted before starting work on the recent ones acquired from the Warhammer Conquest magazine, which I have built along with 3 more Marine Heroes which I'll show you in a bit.
A while ago I sprayed a lot of marines with a black undercoat, the other day I gave them all two coats of Macragge blue for the armour and then shaded them with Drakenhof Nightshade.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
With that done and the Retributor Armour painted on their chests and shoulder and knee trims, I coated all the gold areas with Reikland Fleshshade, then Auric Armour Gold and then finished them with Liberator Gold highlighting the edges.
I started layering one of the marines with Calgar Blue, hopefully tonight or the this weekend I'll be able to finish these guys off.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors

Here are my latest models from my Conquest magazine, a Blight-Hauler tank, Ultramarine Librarian along with a three of the Space Marine Heroes

Last pictures.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Wow, great updates. Let me go share some of this. Love that Tank.
-
Great update! I like how the Gretchins turned out.
-
Thank you Starchaser.
Time for another miniature update with my recent Intercessors, I finally found the time to finish edging their armour starting with Calgar Blue followed by Fenrisian Grey. For the parchment seal I gave it a base coat of Screamer Pink, shaded with Carroburg Crimson and then edged them with Pink horror to start and then Emperor's Children.
Using a hand drill, I have drilled out the gun barrels on each figure.
I had already started the painting the parchments, using Rakarth Flesh as a base, Agrax Earthshade for shading. I then gave them a layer of Pallid Wych Flesh and finished with a edge coat of White Scar.
For their knee caps, I applied two very thin coats of Celestra Grey, a shade coat of Drakenhof Nightshade, two thin coats of Celestra White and the finished with a layer of White Scar, again a thin coat.
All that is left to do with them is edge their utility belts, finish off their eyes, parchments and their bases before applying the transfers to all of them.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
They look good to me.
Off to share.
-
Thanks Shawn
Last night I finished edging the utility belts on the Marines using Eshin Grey and then with Dawnstone. For their bases I gave them a coat of Stirland Mud and then a shade of Agrax Earthshade.
While that was drying I turned to my Plague Marine Blightbringer who'd been sat on my desk for ages after giving him a black undercoat. I gave his armour a coat of Death Guard green and the protruding bones a coat of Rakarth Flesh. All pipes and weaponry were given a coat of Leadbelcher before I called it a night.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/updates/
-
I recently bought a basing set which contained a series of skulls, tufts and paints. I painted three with a base coat of of Rakarth flesh, then a shade of Agrax Earthshade and then finished them off with highlights using Screaming skull. These are going to be used for the Marines bases.
-
This morning I had a little free time so I quickly dry brushed Screaming Skull over the bases, glued on a tuft on the back of each stand and a skull on the front. All I need to do is tidy up the edges of each base and then those three will be done.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
All kinds of new fun in here too. Liking that new Plague Marine. Off to share the update.
-
Thanks Shawn, I'm glad your liking these :-)
-
Even though it was my wedding anniversary last night, I had an hour to kill while my wife was getting ready.
I finished the Marines by painting Mournfang brown around the rim of each base. They are now ready to defend their world from the scourge of the Death Guard!
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/#intercessors
-
Also I went back to my Blightbringer, adding Retributor armour to his armour trims and the first base coat Rakarth Flesh to his Nurgle pet.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#officers
-
About three months ago I started collecting Warhammer 40k miniatures because I have never worked on something of this scale, also I wanted to improve on my painting skills. This seemed like the perfect hobby to do this. I have put this picture together containing Marines from my first one ever painted up to most recent one. As much as it is time consuming and expensive, I have found this to be very helpful for me.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/home/contents/warhammer-40k/
-
Wow, just a ton of new work in here. Man you can sure see that progression! Off to share the latest.
-
Last night I went back to my Blightbringer, in hopes of trying to complete him before Christmas. This is as far as I got in the time I had while wrapping presents lol. A second layer of Leadbelcher applied to all metal work along with second coats of Death Guard Green to the armour and Rakarth flesh to the Nurgle and the Blightbringers tentacles. Agrax Earthshade applied to the armour, Nuln Oil to all metallic painted areas and Reikland Fleshshade over the Nurgle and tentacles.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#officers

Wow, the colors are really popping on this one! Off to share.

Hi guys,
Sorry it's been awhile since I lasted posted so belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
I won't go into details about these latest Plague Marine miniatures I have finished or the on going Ultramarines. Let me start with the Foul Blightspawn.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#officers
-
Next up the Blight Hauler, being a scary looking tank I wanted to give the base a gruesome look. I think it worked well.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#vehicles
-
And lastly I've been working on a Primaris Hero, a Librarian, a Dreadnought and finally an Aggressor. These are just a small handful of miniatures I got for Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too. I see lots of great custom work went on for you over the holidays. Really enjoying that skull base.

I did a little tidying up with their armour, applied Nuil Oil and Reikland Fleshguard shading to all metal and gold areas and a coat of Zandri Dust to the Librarians robes and the Sargent's face.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Here are a couple of extra pictures.
-
I'm always impressed by your 40k figures.
Keep up the great work.
-
Very nice.
-
These are awesome Richard, keep em coming buddy.
Ron
-
Cheers bud.
This weekend I've cracked on with the Librarians cloak using Zandri Dust for the base, Seraphin Sepia for the shade, Ushabti Bone for layer and then finished with Screaming skull for edging. I used Emperors child for the inside of the robe.
I did a little tidying up with their armour, applied Nuil Oil and Reikland Fleshguard shading to all metal and gold areas and a coat of Zandri Dust to the Librarians robes and the Sargent's face.

First layer of edging using Calgar Blue was applied to my five WIP Ultramarines, followed with Stormhost silver edging on all of their guns. Just a couple of final touches to be done before starting work on their bases.

Like I was telling Ron it looks like my home internet is out again this week (I so have got to get a new ISP) so my work internet let me at least see this new work and get it posted to the front page.
As you can tell I am not bitter about the experience at all. bbfet

Completed the edging on their armour last night. Just the edging on the Dreadnought to finish and then on with their bases.

Thanks everyone ;D

Don't know if your tracking stuff other than 40K, but my son just picked up Mollog's Mob (Nightvault) and started painting. In light of all your Warhammer work here, I may have to share an image with you:)
-
Please do Starchaser I would love to see it!
-
Taking a break from building the sewer, thought it was about time time I finished the series of miniatures I started. I had finished the miniatures bodies but had not got round to their bases. I was inspired with the weather we had in the UK over the weekend, can you tell?
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
And last but not least the Dreadnought, I'm thinking of re-addressing his base later on.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Looks awesome to me. Glad that weather is good for something other than breaking my back.
Looks like more snow next week. It is forecast every day. Off to share the update.

I'm very impressed by the quality of your paintjobs! The color is applied so well - nice & smooth - and also the level of detail is amazing!

The marines and awesome bud.
Ron

The paintjob is phenomenal.
Excellent work.

While I was exhibiting at the Comic con a week last Sunday I started painting a handful of miniatures because they are starting to build up lol. A week later and I'm all most done.

One of the downsides to having a magazine subscription is when the magazine company decides its a good idea to send reinforcements for your troops BUT the reinforcements are figures they have sent prior. Thanks to this I now have quite an army of Poxwalkers made of doubles/trebbles of these vile, gruesome zombie characters.
One of the nice things of having so many of the same figures (yes I could have customized these latest'd dudes) is you can see where you have improved and what you need to do the next time. The last picture are my three identical Poxwalkers, two of which you have seen before last year and the last one is one I started on Saturday and is almost finished.

You can sure see the progression here. Off to share your update.
-
Looking good! I think the poxwalker looks really good. My son concurs. He's painting Bretonnian knights and Trogoths as I write :)
-
Your Marines look royal! Excellent army there. The Poxwalkers look most impressive! It looks like they need some parasite treatment...
Very impressive paintjobs there!

I decided I wanted a container worthy of the Death Guard, one that is writhe with disease and decay.
-
Nice! The colors are excellent. I especially like the Death Guard container, it looks appropriately pale and sickly.
-
Your painting is really getting excellent. I too like that Death Guard version, all of em are great though. Off to share.
-
Thanks guys. Last night i finished the turrets off and with them painted, the scene can be set for the battle to take place between the forces of good and evil!

The whole assemblage looks really good.

The weathering on the containers and barrels is excellent.

Here are some more Marines for you. Afteer base coating them with Macragge blue I have painted over them with the new contrast paint Ultramarine blue, Retributor Armour for the gold area, leadbelcher for all gunmetal areas and Stirland mud for the bases.

-
Very cool
-
Nice! Did you get to participate in Warhammer Day at all?
-
One of many more miniatures I have finished these past couple of weeks. I have also been trying out Games Workshops Contrast paints on a Astarties Marine, he doesn't look bad but I do miss the gold on the armour.
I had two of the same Hero, I did the helmeted version classic style and the other one using contrast paints.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
A couple of WIP Hellblasters and another Dreadnought with a completed Aggressor
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/

Thanks pal
-
Wow, what an update in here! And a name change I see. Off to share to the front pages.
-
Thanks Tamar. I thought it was time to change the name to match the site lol
-
Damn bud these 40k figures are just awesome, your paint apps really bring the details out in them.
Ron
-
Thanks Ron ;D
-
I have finished two of the Hellblasters off.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
On Sunday morning I put the theory of painting miniature with contrast paint is quicker to the test.
I completed these three in the space of about 5 hours. I did cheat with them and dry brushed all the highlights on them instead of hand paint. Next time I'll take my time and hand paint the lights.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
These look fantastic. I'm growing an appreciation for these miniatures. I've been watching YouTube videos on how to paint Star Wars miniatures, and it's not half as involved as what you have. Excellent job.
-
Thanks JD, I have to admit I did rush these so I was a little heavier with the dry brushing as I should have been.
I found a YouTube video of how to paint faces correctly so I'm giving that a go because the eyes are so tricky to do. I started a head last night and have got the base coats and shading done, tonight I'm going to try the eyes and then I'll post my results.
-
Nice update. I look forward to seeing how you do with the eye work on your next update. Off to the front pages.
-
These look great! I'll be excited to see the results on your eyes (I've sent the link to my son too - he's always complaining about eyes as well).
-
You are killing it with these paint apps bud, they are just awesome.
Ron
-
Thanks guys.
Well I followed the instructions in the video above and here are the results. I think I need a little more practice lol ;D
Well just need to paint his body now.

-
Group shot and the Dreadnought which I now need to highlight.
-
Your paint work is just superb. Off to share on the front pages.
-
Thanks Tamer
A second coat of Ultramarine contrast has been applied because one coat is not enough. Now I can start adding more colours to them.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
More excellent marines!
-
Nice. Back to the front page.
-
Finished doing the basic contrast coats, time to highlight them.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/

They really turned out great too. Off to share again.
-
Finished these marines
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Finished my Dreadnought.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
After contrasting Marines I thought I'd try contrasting plague marines. I'm not a fan of them but love painting these guys.
I have to admit the contrast paints for them look good.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#plague
-
Wow, every time I return to the computer there are even more pictures of your 40k miniatures on here! Your paint apps are as sharp as always and definitely sharper than I'll ever be able to paint!
Most respect! Your marine corps looks intimidating!
My brother sold the last batch of his Warhammer stuff yesterday and now I wish he didn't...
Nice update!
-
Man those look great. Off to share.
-
A little more work done with my latest Plaguers
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#officers
-
Finished the two contrasted Death Guard Marines.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#plague
-
Now those are nice. Off to share this update too.
-
Nice! I really like the Death Guard Marines. They look most excellent.
-
Finished my latest champions of Nurgle.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#officers
-
They look tough. I really like that third one. Off to share on the front pages.
-
Boy those turned out great (even though I'm no fan of Nurgle's faction). That green is a great color choice for them.
-
Tw more marines started a Captain in Gravis armour and a Hellbaster Sargent.
-
Nice, very nice. Off to share.
-
I really like how that Captain turned out.
-
To get myself primed for painting the G.I. Joe Armoury, thought I'd do a Warhammer 40K warm up.
I've gone back to the Marines and edged them with Calgar blue and Agrax Earthshade over all of the gold.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines
-
On top of these two I have also finished off my Plasma Thermal Regulators and Thermic Plasma Conduits. These I started a couple of months ago. After base coating them in Abbadon Black I then painted them with Leadbelcher. Both coats were done using GW's airbrush paints, it meant I could get an even coat. I've used Nuln Oil for shading, Retributor Armour for the pipes, Agrax Earthshade to shade that. Thousand Sons Blue for the plasma and then edged with Temple Guard Blue.
PLASMA THERMAL REGULATORS

THERMIC PLASMA CONDUITS

Wow, great work. Love all the conduit stuff. Great for displaying these guys.
Off to share.
-
I really like how those world-scape pieces turned out. They will give your Marines an excellent environment in which to fight.
-
Finished these Ultramarines
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Started these four Plaguemarines using contrast paints.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/
-
Nice. Off to share this update too.
-
Looking really good!
-
It's been a long time since I posted any Warhammer figures, I've been focusing on diorama commissions recently. With the lockdown due to Coronavirus and my work laptop next to my painting desk, I've been catching up with my miniatures lol. Sorry there are quite a few here, including ones that I started a while ago and put down.
Let's start with the Poxwalkers I started months ago.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#poxwalkers
-
Last two Poxwalkers, and then on to the Plague Marines I started using contrast paints.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#plague
-
Last two of that batch, along with The Lord of Contagion and Foetid Bloat-Drone
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#plague
-
Chaos Cultists
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/plague-marines/#cultists
-
Final two Cultists, along with a Haemotrope Reactor I have also been working on this week. This model just needs a little more work doing to it before this if finished.
An Ultramarine Rhino I started months ago and is now finally finished. A marine you might remember, I did a little guide on how to paint eyes. I have now finally finished him to.
-
Staying with the Ultramarines:
A tactical squad bazooka
A couple of Hellblasters
And that is it (for now!), I have just built a group of scouts, bikes and some Intercessor reinforcements which also reminds me to buy more Macragge Blue because I'm going to need it!
I finish with a group shot of the work I did last week.
https://richardscreativeworkshop.co.uk/ultramarines/
-
Your painting skills are really getting good. Wow. Nice stuff.
Off to the front pages.
-
Really nice update! I like how those cultists turned out.
-
These are all great, RC! I love the detail and especially like the paint apps on the reactor. Do you have a specific brush or brand that you prefer for painting at this scale?
-
I'm trying my hand at customizing again.
Completed a full repaint of an Indiana Jones Willie Scott to a Chiss Slave girl
Completed a head swap to make a Zabrak Jedi. Yes he does look like he has chewed on a wasp!
In the process of making a Togruta Jedi and Satele Shan (I hope!).
-
The Chiss gal is great. Off to the front pages.
Look forward to see what your gal Jedi turns into as well.
-
Nice job on these. The Chiss female looks really good. I look forward to seeing how Satele turns out (I haven't had the guts to try building a version of her yet, so kudos!).
-
My comment got lost in space on Monday so I got a little frustrated. Remind me to copy every text before I post it. But I'll try my best to get my words together, again:
The colors on Willie Scott really pop! The shades of blue on her skin add to the nice combination of colors you chose for her costume! One can tell that your experience of painting Warhammer minis did pay off here!
I had to chuckle while reading your comment on the Zabrak Jedi. His head is really well done!
Also love your 6" w.i.p.s.! Satele Shan would be so awesome to see in 1/12 scale! I got my Ahsoka directly from HongKong via eBay. And seeing the prices for her on the secondary market makes me even happier to see her return! Good luck with those two! Can't wait to see how they'll turn out, but I'm sure they will look as awesome as the first two in 1/18 scale! Thanks for sharing! That was really inspiring!
-
Thanks Darth. WIllie's skin is the same paint combination for the Ultramarines.
The headless WIPs are both 3.75" Ashoka and Jedi training Rey. I'm going to use the head of Rose for Satele, give her a hair cut, extensions and a full make over lol.
I've kinda left them alone for a minute will I'm building Coruscant.
-
After completing my latest Star Trek Diorama, I thought I would turn my hand to making a couple of custom figures using the spare Playmates figures I have. My first character is based on the character I play in Star Trek Online wearing the TNG Movie / DS9 uniform.
-
The second is also my character from the game but this time wearing the Odysseys-style uniform
-
The third is a straight head swapped, it is Captain Kirk from the Shatnerverse books (the Mirror Universe trilogy) in his TNG Movie uniform.
-
Nice, love to see self customs.
off to the front pages.
-
That's great! I really like "self" customs, too! The head swap works well also.
-
I bought myself the McFarlane platinum edition CW The Flash and was a little shocked when I opened the box to find I had been sent the unpainted version and not the painted version which is advertised on Amazon (I did check to see if it mentioned that I might receive the unpainted version but there was nothing on the page!)
Anyway I’ve decided why waste this golden, I mean platinum opportunity to paint this guy.
I thought I share with a painting update on the Platinum Flash I got yesterday. I thought I’d start with his head because if I didn’t like it, I can always start again.
-
A little bit of a a flash update for you, I’ve finished the Flash’s eyes which for my first time painting a human face on an action of this scale I am very pleased with the outcome. I’ve base painted all gold on his body which I’ll finish off once I’ve painted the red into his costume.
-
I’m half way through my Flash transformation project. I should have him finished in the next couple of days and then I’ll start his lightning accessories.
-
I have finished the legs and now starting on the accessories
-
More work on his lightning effects
-
I have finished painting McFarlane Platinum Edition CW The Flash and finished off with adding a layer of varnish over him (which unfortunately doesn’t protect all of the joints for I have used a dark red permanent marker). I have a included a before and after picture of his head to the change made by applying the matte varnish.
-
Wow, that's impressive! You did a great job on the eyes. The colors are excellent. You should bill McFarlane for the paint job ;D
-
I can only repeat what Starchaser already said: The paint scheme looks top-notch and you made the eyes look stunning! And I had never thought I'd say this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKBCVZqqooY) about the eyes of a 7" action figure. His looks appears quite thoughtful.
Very good work done here, mate!
-
Wow, looks great. Man you have done a lot of work on this.
Off to the front pages.
-
The rain has called off painting my latest diorama because I need the space to paint that beast so I thought today I’d turn to customising Star Wars characters. A few years ago I made my character from Star Wars The Old Republic so I thought I’d make him again but in Black Series scale. If you play the game as a Jedi their armour is loosely based around mandalorian armour with a robe over the top. As you can see I have a pieces in place and going to start painting him as soon as possible. The next character I’m going to try and do is Kyle Katarn. I’ve been hoping Hasbro would have made a version by now but sadly no. I’ve put the pieces together but need to add a beard, possible change the paldron, he is a WIP.
-
I’m working on a couple customs, one is modelled on the character I play on SWTOR and the other one I am hoping will turn out how I want it.
-
Very nice. Great to see updates here and for your diorama.
Off to share.
-
Those are looking good. Great to see you back at custom figures a bit. Look forward to seeing more.
-
I’ve finished painting my latest two custom Star Wars figures. The first is Kyle Katarn from the Dark Forces game series, I still need to make his belt, paint up his gun and do his lightsaber. The recipe is:
The body is old Han Solo from the Force Awakens
The arms are from Migs Mayfeld
The head is young Han Solo from A Soli Story
His boots are also from young Han Solo
Greenstuff used for his gloves, trouser pockets and pauldron.
-
The second figure is based on my character from the SWTOR game. The recipe is:
Head, cloak and lightsaber from Obi Wan Kenibo TV series.
Body is from Axe Woves
Armour modifications were made using Greenstuff.
-
Those turned out really nice. I like that Kyle's shoulder pad isn't massively oversized. Your SWTOR character looks really good.
-
Nice. Off to share.
