Title: ImperialOfficer's Custom Figures Updated 2/3/2020
Post by: ImperialOfficer on April 22, 2018, 04:04:40 AM
Two easy potf2 customs, a generic mandalorian and a special forces stormtrooper. The mando is just a repaint of boba fett, and the stormtrooper is made with the arms, hips and legs of luke in stormtrooper disquise with a modified tie pilot helmet and body. I have made other customs, I just don't feel like posting them.

Always great to see those figures still being used. And your first customs post. Time to get this on the front pages. I really like your color choices on that Mando.

Both of them look nice! I like the design and the combination of colours on both of them!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the compliments and the front page! I am planning on making a whole squad of the special forces trooper. Here is a WIP droid that I started today. The torso, head and upper arms are from the 5poa k2s0. The legs and weapon are from potf2 ig 88. The lower arms are from a KO CW obi wan.

Yesterday I made 3 customs, a wookiee jedi, a smuggler and a tusken raider rebel pilot, and I plan on finishing more today. Shout out to darthapathy on yakface for helping me build up my fodder.

Great job with these customs. I like the red trooper. You droid turned out really well. And I like the choice of the Shadows imperial guard helmet for a tusken raider pilot.

Picture's a bit blurry, so its hard to make out the detail on your sculpted hood, but its a great use of the Sarco Plank body (unless I'm mistaken about that).
Title: Re: ImperialOfficer's custom figures
Post by: ImperialOfficer on May 09, 2018, 06:06:50 PM
It is the sarco plank body, and there isnt much detail on the hood, as it is my first successful attempt at sculpting.

Rebel pilot
Tfa finn body
Unknown head and helmet
TAC clone in training gear armor
Potf2 tie pilot chest box

The concept Stormtrooper wookiees look really cool.
I would like to read the backstory about them.
Your figure looks great so far and I'm looking forward to see the finished figure.

Excellent find on these concepts (I might have to try my hand at them). Your sculpting is shaping up well, I'll be excited to see it when its done. Greenstuff (Kneadatite) is an excellent medium, glad you're trying it out.
Title: Re: ImperialOfficer's custom figures
Post by: ImperialOfficer on June 14, 2018, 04:02:24 AM
Thanks for the complements everyone! The concept art is from the art of solo. I also have some aves apoxie that I plan on trying out later today.

I plan on buying some better quality paints than what I've been using, and I am looking for advice. I only have a budget of about $45, and I am not sure which brand/colors to get. I would like to get enough colors to be able to mix any others that I would need.

That's an ambitious goal! If you have time during the holidays and enough fodder to customize plus motivation, this will be an awesome time I'm looking forward to!

I'm also a big fan of Clone Troopers and yours in Training gear looks great, too! If you have many of these troops, this is a great occasion to bring some variety into your cadets!

Nice work. Thanks for sharing! Have a nice weekend and keep up the creative motivation!

Title: Re: ImperialOfficer's custom figures
Post by: Darth More on June 24, 2018, 01:07:30 AM
Wow, this Maul looks really nice! I suppose this was a 5POA figure before? I'm not familiar with the products released since 2015...I didn't buy the Rebels, TFA, Rogue One, TLJ and SOLO stuff.
I might get Han's Speeder some day though.

Anyway, the ball-joints at the ellbows and knees look great! I also like the double-bladed lightsaber! Was this Maul actually released in the Rebels line?

Darth Maul is actually the character I got my very first Star Wars action figure of back in 1999.

Thanks for sharing and giving me these good memories on this nostalgic Sunday morning! Yesterday, I got my Jabba out of the packaging, again, after I had seen your custom throne for the mighty Hut! Thank you for all the inspiration and keep up the artwork!

- Philipp

P.S.: I'm sure that you'll find good fodder in the bay or on fleamarkets/garage sales around you. But for me  eBay is always the best source.

I saw the baze and chirrut pack, and I am tempted to get a few just for the accessories, especially since chirrut comes with a more accurate version of his crossbow/blaster thing, unlike the single carded release.

Here is a quick custom I did of Rose in carbonite. I have no issues with the character, but I was bored and she was the only figure that made sense. Also, if anyone is interested, I might be willing to make casts if there is enough interest that I wouldn't waste silicone on a mold.

You don't know how much I celebrate this Rose in Carbonite! What a brilliant idea! There is hardly a better purpose for this 5POA figure! The quality of the carbonite block really turned out great! Which material did you for the cast?

Also, Ulysses Gartrok and Nagk San are the most mysterious and therefore interesting customs I've seen in a while! Ulysses is my absolute favourite! He just looks so awesome! And Nagk reminds me of the good old days when I played Knights of the Old Republic. Both of them look just so good. That's what Star Wars is to me: mysterious figures with actual character (not that Sequel trash) - how much would I love to see these two on my Mos Eisley diorama. This really inspires me for some customs to populate my current project.

Thank you so much for sharing and enjoy your holidays!

Thank you so much for the compliments! Ulysses and Nagk are my favorite customs so far. The Rose in carbonite above is the original copy - I posted casts for sale in the for sale section. I made rose by cutting han solo out of the POTF2 HIC, which was hollow on the inside. I then superglued her in and used aves apoxie to smooth everything out. The great thing about this method is that I can easily replicate it, and I have a few ideas so far.

Thanks! I am currently working on realistic versions of the squad, but I need both phase 1 and phase 2 removable helmets for them. Fracture is still my favourite of them although that's a tight choice. Your painting skills are impressive! The paintjob on your realistic style squad is even cleaner than your first run! I'm also amazed by the three custom helmets you made!

And the awesomeness continues with Sigma Squad! Wow! You repainted them on one day only?! That’s impressive! I love the designs of them! What about the Battle Droids? I suppose they’re part of the squad. Are they re-programmed to serve as decoys against the separatist army? That would give the Republic Forces a tactical advantage...

Keep up the great work! I’ll send a Gunship to you to drop a package with supplies. This talent must be supported!

Stormtrooper TX-964

After hearing of the destruction that the death star had caused, TX-964 deserted and blew up the supply depot at an imperial base. he has been on the run ever since, and he has camouflaged his armor to help him avoid detection.

Well, today was the first day of school, and unfortunately I did not make one custom for every day of the summer. I ended up making a total of 55 customs, as well as starting many projects and getting countless ideas. Here is a group shot:

There are quite a few there that I haven't posted, either because I haven't gotten around to it or because they are being kept secret...

I agree with Tamer. 55 customs for 12 weeks is pretty amazing! And so does Justin over at YakFace think! I saw his post on YakFace's Customizer Spotlight this morning.
When I look at the custom figures I made so far since 2012 I can probably count them with three hands. If I think of the custom figures I'm going to make the count quickly goes close to one hundred...

I keep looking at the picture of your shelf - it's great to see all the customs - you've really done a fantastic job on them! You created some truly awesome customs and I'm really looking forward to seeing your photo novel project evolve...

Thanks for making this summer so much better with all these great customs to look at. Your work is very inspiring. Please, keeo it up!

Lots of great kit bashes here! Keep it up! Just try and use patience with your work. I know it can be frustrating to go slow and not have enough parts but that's what's great about getting loose lots off eBay. They are soo cheap to get fooder. Even the junk EP 1 figures can be made into unrecognizable wonders... Just wanted to throw that out there.

Love lots of you color combinations too. You should try doing washes and dry brushing next (if you haven't)... Dyes can get you cool results too if wait it out.

That's a pretty impressive assortment of characters! I like that you requisitioned elements from other lines (TMNT, etc.) to flesh out the partisans alien ranks. I really enjoyed the combinations here.
Title: Re: ImperialOfficer's custom figures
Post by: Darth More on September 14, 2018, 02:07:34 AM
That's a very nice and diverse Rebel garrison, indeed! 21 figures and one vehicle customized over one weekend is top performance from my perspective.
Like ghostskull18 I really like this Super Battle Droid - Droideka - Grievous - Fusion! Seeing the firing missle play feature of the Destroyer as Flamethrower is brilliant! Never thought of that! Also the SBD torso on Destroyer Droid tipod with alternate cannon looks very cool!
My personal favourites of this lot are the Devaronian with red cape along with the CIS Flamethrower Droid - the paint job on that one is just awesome!

And as (SID) said, eBay is the perfect source for you - especially when you live in the U.S.! Just be patient! You'll find excellent lots of loose figures, vehicles, parts and other fodder on there for reasonable prices or even very cheap. Keep your hobby, work hard for school and later on when you earn money, there won't be any better conditions for you as Star Wars fan and customizer on this planet.

And like I-am-Boba-Fett and Starchaser, I also enjoy following your thread. And I'm sure hemble will also continue following your thread as time allows to. You impress all these great customers on here and that means something.

Keep up the great work, enjoy the hobby, but try not to hustle. I know it can be frustrating to not have time, money or space to instantly realize your ideas, but I made the experience that projects turn out even better the longer they had stayed in my mind before. I started to write down all my ideas, drawn concepts and drafts and collect them in one folder. I keep forgetting stuff you know...

I agree! That's a very cool idea! All I know is that Ninjago is one of the most popular themes of LEGO and still sells very well.

Your realization of Jay ZX is plain excellent! It's very interesting to see how he actuakly looks in 1/18 scale! He looks great!

But dude, your Samukai just looks awesome! To me it looks at least a million times better than the LEGO Minifigure! It's just so cool! And reminds me a little of Gerneral Grievous.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for sharing & have a good weekend!
I'm looking forward to seeing this project continue!

It's been a long time since I updated this thread. Now that summer is here I am going to try for an even loftier goal tan last year. My goal for this year is to create or finish 200 customs over the summer, as well as finally completed my photonovel and work on dioramas. Hopefully I can complete this, but I doubt I will. I really need to use up some of my parts.

Another easier to achieve goal is to remember to post my customs.

Time to start posting my summer customs. I have a ton of stuff to work on, but hopefully I can finish all of my WIP figures.

1. Quarren Skiff Guard
Body - GI Joe HEAT Viper
Head/Hands - TLC Quarren Warrior
Vibro-Axe - POTF2 Skiff Guard Lando

Wow, another batch of cool customs! I really like the Quarren Skiff Guard, the desert worm and the Imperial Merc! Now, I need to watch out for one of those H.E.A.T. Viper figures.
Your ideas are so cool! And your painting skills on even the tiniest sculpts are impressive! Thanks for sharing these awesome concepts! Do you have a 3D printer at home already?

Fun concept - the figure would work as some kind of Sith champion/warrior. Toning down the Chaos weirdness from 40K works pretty well.

May I use this paint scheme for a A K-Series droid for my 229th Stormtrooper Battalion, or my 138th Armored division. Will credit you with original concept.

I haven't been feeling very interested in doing figures recently, so I'm hoping that posting some of the things that I have started but not finished will motivate me to work on them.

I have been painting a lot of miniatures recently, and I think that is one of the reasons I havent been doing as many figures. It is a lot less tedious to paint something because I don't have to spend so long basecoating everything, and there is such a huge selection. It doesn't help either that they are so cheap compared to figures.

Here are a few of the minis I have finished recently.

Thanks. I started working on the crab knight the other day, and I did a few figures today too. I painted a bunch of undead miniatures for Halloween as well.

I started using an airbrush to basecoat figures recently, and today I tried to do more than usual. I really like the effects I got with the orange. I envision him as the leader of some sort of cult, and a couple of high ranking members.

Good grief! Your miniatures look sick! The first thoght when I saw your Halloween customs was: Jup, he got an airbrush, now! I agree with Tamer: the effects look amazing. No need to say how detailed your paintwork is! Excellent ideas there! I'm very glad for you that you work with an airbrush system now! So much potential there! Thanks for sharing!

The minis look really good - especially the spectral figures! I also think the orange hue on your "cult" members looks really interesting. Now you have to build a real good backstory.

That security droid is sweet.  I love the head, its got a Chappie/Biareos from Appleseed vibe.  So Starchaser pointed out the body as a Clone Trainee, and I know the neck piece is from a Mark I Iron Man, but what is the head?

I believe it is from an Iron Man 2 drone.
