Title: Derryl starts new Vintage Project
Post by: Tamer on June 07, 2019, 06:53:33 AM

"Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce we've started a company named Blue Milk (https://bluemi.lk/former-toy-industry-professionals-form-media-company-announce-premium-star-wars-action-figure-guide/) and are revealing our first collaboration - Star Wars: Vintage Collection Archive Edition.

Star Wars: Vintage Collection Archive Edition is a premium format book launching on Kickstarter, today. The book pays tribute to Hasbro's  epic The Vintage Collection toy line and includes details from the team that created it, accompanied by beautiful photography and layout.

https://kickstarter.com/projects/bluemilk/star-wars-the-vintage-collection-archive-edition-book (https://kickstarter.com/projects/bluemilk/star-wars-the-vintage-collection-archive-edition-book)

Our vision is to create something of tremendous value to the fanbase, as well as something that we would be proud to have in our own collections. We are excited by the vision and hope that this is just the start for us."

Oh yeah, spread the word folks. Having met Derryl myself several times trust me when I say that you will not meet a finer gentleman and ambassador for our hobby. He will deliver a product that is stellar folks so take it from the Tamer and back this!

It already has met its goal and then some.

It was awesome to message with Derryl a bit yesterday. Folks we can only hope he gets back full into the Star Wars Brand. He knows customizers and adamantly supports us.

That's so very cool! I was offline for five days and heard of the news from a friend of mine! It's so awesome that Derryl DePriest conducts this project with Steve and two other fans! And they also provide international shipping! Probably because they make it through kickstarter.  I'll definitely get one of this book!
Thanks for spreading the word, Tamer!

So I finally backed this book! I cannot believe there are only 3 DAYS left! Time flies...so I became a "signed book backer" for $75 plus $12 shipping within the U.S. - I'm gonna pick it up on my visit next year, then.

By now this kickstarter project of Derryl DePriest reached an amount of $169,000 - and I'm optimistic that we can still unlock the next funding goal of $175,000 to get these three coins on top!

Let's keep spreading the word and gather some more backers, please!

I know some collectors were not so happy about the price and the fact that it will be incomplete once it's published. Well, let's hope The Vintage Collection continues for some years with solid new products.
People buy all kinds of LEGO books, such as the LEGO Minifigure Archive book or book of all LEGO Star Wars sets and people still buy them over and over again. LEGO only gives them one exclusive minifigure. Now, Derryl gives us some more of the good extras.

Here's the link to get your very own TVC Archive Book:

Folks, even the 200k stretch goal has been reached now - and there are still 17 hours left to pre-order your exclusive copy of this book.

I agree, this one is gonna be fantastic. Just the stretch goals are awesome not to mention the overall book.

We can only hope they do a follow up version for when newer TVC Stuff gets made.

Yes, I’m very exited for this book, too! And I hope the stuff that’s yet to come in the Vintage Collection will fill another book!

The next question is: Which name are you going to use for the list of supporters? I thought of using my full name. Or maybe my nickname Darth More? Darth More’s Customs?
I'm not sure...

Tamer, what about you? Will you take “Tamer from Imperial Shipyards”?

Not sure yet, but will think on it. Most folks probably would know me as Tamer from ISY rather than my given name.

When I checked my e-mail this morning I discovered that I finally received the confirmation and PledgeManager message from Blue Milk yesterday at 4:57 pm EST.
So I completed my order by choosing the name to appear in the list of backers (decided to take my full name), setting a shipping address and I even ordered a second copy of the book with all the extra goodies for $60 and another $12 for shipping - lovely!

I can recommend to you to carefully check the list of upgrades. This will be the last chance for you to get more extras of this excellent project!

Yepper, just posted the update on the front pages. I got me email and did the final check out. Contemplated doing the full back to get that set of gold coins, but another 100 bucks or so just for gold coins wasn't worth it imo so I stuck with my first backing. Still, it was nice to see that I can even get back in and change things should I want too before they ship in a few months.

Yes, I saw update #16 this morning, too! And I thought about sharing it on here, but I thought it’s a private video on YouTube and only visible for backers. Anyway - great update! I’m very excited for this!

The pictures of update #15 also bring back some good memories. The “Three Worlds” might give away what we will see in the future, too! I doubt Hasbro will give us a new Red V...they’ll just repack the X-Wing from 2011 and that’s it. I love The Repack Collection!

Some people are actually selling their SOTDS X-Wings on ebay now before nobody wants them anymore...

That Hoth AT-ST would be a repack I’d love to see though! And of course an updates for Bib Fortuna and Lobot! And so many more...

I honestly don't have any issues with them needing more time. I rather give them as much time as they need and have an exceptional result at the end. I got a good feeling about this!
Thanks for the update, Tamer! The prototypes for the collector coins look great, too!

Book does look great... Sure it will be... I just couldn't get behind another book of SW that's incomplete. I have too many already. I will miss this from my collection though especially with all the super sweet incentives' they added. I just wish lucasfilm would've just done this instead of all the other crap they put out in books that hit shelves'... (be more Leia... Updating visual dictionary's Etc.)
Title: Re: Derryl starts new Vintage Project
Post by: Darth More on November 20, 2019, 03:09:20 AM
Yes, that's very true! Making this book without being able to make it complete, yet, is just a pity.
They already annouced they would do a second edition to add to it once the Vintage Collection is done (which it won't be for another 5 years I hope!).
Well, if you change your mind I ordered a second book just before checkout. It's the basic version for $60, but I didn't want to spend $150 on it just for the bonus features...
If you want to have mine, you can have it! I'm afraid prices on ebay will explode for this...

Hmmmmmmm you just have to tempt me ()rr.... I had no idea of a VOL II

I have the other 2 figure archive books (and others including un-official ones). I still REALLY want the ones that GUS LOPEZ has done on prototype's etc.... That part is what I wanna see the most in the new BLUE MILK book.

Yep, thats how I roll! I mean I won't loose any sleep over it, but can you imagine the Hasbro fallout if they hadn't met their delivery date with the Barge last February? Folks would have gone nuts!

Still I trust anything Derryl puts his name on. He will make sure we get a good product.

Haha, good one (SID)! Well, they already said a VOL II is likely to happen after the success of the first one. It's a 2 book compendium then. And I think it'll make sense to re-issue the first book when the second one comes out. Who knows when it'll happen. I don't hope it'll happen soon because I want The Vintage Collection to continue for at least 5 years! Make it last a decade.

Thanks for sharing update #21, Tamer! Read it this morning and it looks like the Coronavirus does cause further delay on delivery since the books and prodector shells are printed in China. At least the collector coins are made in USA. Let's see when we will get our books. Maybe in May? Who knows. All I hope for is that the people in China will get better as soon as possible and that their government can vanish this virus.

I am not downplaying the corona virus at all. Still, I am just getting bad vibes that this is gonna keep getting delayed and delayed. I don't know why I am feeling pessimistic now, its just one of those gut feelings.

Today the Georgia Alliance of Star Wars Collectors (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCReAIiTM2QvmQ-0jSebUncA) shared an exclusive interview with Rich Alot and Derryl DePriest on the upcoming release of the Vintage Collection Archive Book. I know some members of our forum have been waiting patiently for this project to become reality. I left my comment below the video on YouTube. All I can say is: It's worth every second of the 37 minutes! I just wish the current brand team for Star Wars at Hasbro would be that honest with us. Times have changed dramatically for us collectors within just a few years...it feels this book will be a testimony to the Golden Age of collecting 3 3/4" Star Wars figures.

Yes, I did. 2 1/2 years later I picked mine up at a friend's house in Michigan. It was also well packed, but I needed some time to find everything included.

I just returned from Action and found a couple picture frames for the chapter break prints.

Regular frames with suitable dimensions are 1.99€. Another one caught my eyes, which is called "Kids Art Box" and included a compartment to store a stack of paper inside. 4.97€ was pretty reasonable.
You might find something like this at Hobby Lobby.

I might get a couple more of those storage box frames because I'm very happy with this solution. And 5 bucks isn't too shabby..let's try the regular frame before though.

I went back to the store and got another picture frame. I also found a case for the book itself at T€Di for 3,55€. It's a dollar store like Dollar General or Five Below here in Germany.
They have all sorts of miscellaneous goods. The book fits in there perfectly. It's an exact width with half an inch space on top. I don't remember the prices on Blue Milk anymore, but the protection case printed with TVC figures was too expensive for me back in the days...

I had some other picture frames for 1,99€ left for autographs. So I used them for this project:

They're pearl white, bronze, silver (for the carbon freezing chamber) and black (of course).

These frames are flatter and don't come with a mat (white inner frame), but I might buy some extra mats down the line and also switch to all black frames. This should do for now.
