Here is the finished product! Amazing what some detailed paint apps can do.

Wow, this Gunship looks awesome from every angle! I’m very glad it finally arrived in very good shape! Again, I like the option Hasbro gave us with all the different stickers.
So far the weathering you applied to your Clanker Killer looks excellent!
Here is a completely repainted LAAT from 2005, which I found on ebay for 68€:

Maybe this gives you some inspiration. The front of your Gunship is the part I spent most time looking at! I like all the details you added such as the battle damage. Great progress so far! Omega Squad looks great next top it!

That just looks tough! Awesome job.
You definitely got the version I like the best just wish it were a tad bigger with those attached turrets, but we don't get to decide scale. Off to share.

Thank you, Phillip! Weird issue I ran into...my gunship didn't come with the wenches/ropes that hang on the back. Is that an oversight or does the vintage gunship actually not come with those? As for my gunship, I modded the chin guns by trimming the tip and hollowing them out to actually look like barrels with a muzzle.
I really wish I had pigments to weather the troop bay with to add "mud" footprints.
That just looks tough! Awesome job.

Not sure if Haslab would ever pick it up or not. Honestly to me, the only area that needs to be expanded is the troop carrying section. Way too cluttered in there...I can't even do the modifications I wanted because of that reality.
Edit: I just made some homemade decals in aurebesh that say "Clanker Killer!" I'll apply them once I'm home on Sunday evening.

Hey ClanLeader, you changed your name and made a new profile picture! I like them a lot!!
This is correct! I just re-checked the review on rebelscum:
http://rebelscum.com/Republic-Gunship-The-Vintage-Collection-Hasbro.asp
It seems that people found those cables rather annoying. I also spent quite some time too get them back in there...still a cool feature though, which you could easily add to your LAAT, too!
I hope you have as much fun with your new Gunship as I do looking at these pictures of it while listening to Starset.
- Philipp
Add: I can recommend these pigments by Revell to you! Forum member FialaFernbrugg gave this weathering set to me and working with those pigments is great!
I'm sure you'll find a better offer than this, but this is just to show you this set:

Haha, thanks man. Yes, I did change it. I felt like it was well past time. But alas, I must say I genuinely love my new gunship. I can't wait to finish my Republic Commando Squad. I've managed to find a complete comic book set commando with all his accessories. Problem is his lack of articulated legs. My issue will be swapping those out for regular trooper legs I have in my fodder bin. I don't know if they will be compatible yet or not. I can't find any links or discussions about anyone using that technique. If the un-articulated legs are like how I think they are, it will be a simple boil and pop remedy with a swap for regular articulated clone trooper legs.
I like this guy because he has a special backpack (what I think is a jammer/disrupter) preventing CIS communication and allowing slicing, etc. This fits well with A'tin's role in Omega Squad, as he is the squad tech specialist/slicer.

Down the road, I'm going to see if I can obtain those cables and allow the commandos to fast rope from my LAAT/I.
Then I'll use the fodder from Mr.Black to possibly make a few commando teams. I haven't decided fully on that yet, though.
-
That's a good point! I had never thought about replacing just the legs to modify those Comic Pack RCs...it should work though...I guess you are already familiar with the boil-n-pop method?
Man, that's some indepth knowledge about the plot and accessories. Atin will look awesome and I'm extremely glad that you got your squad together in this short time!
Good times to come!

Yes indeed! I've already thought of the perfect idea for A'tin's appearance. I'm going to use Halloween blood to make a symbol on his helmet to match the scar he has under his helmet. This was given to him by his Mandalorian training sergeant (Walon Vau) for the loss of his fellow squad mates.
To get Atin out of his survivor's guilt after his squadmates died, Vau took his knife to the clone, leaving a scar that stretched from his right eye to the left side of his chin, distinguishing him from his fellow clones.
As such, he will have the "bloodstain" design on his bucket to match the scar underneath. A reminder of his past.
I've done a similar "blood painting" technique with a Predator figure.
Here are the results:(https://i.imgur.com/mFUN6JO.jpg)

Hey, that's impressive! It seems you scanned every single page of Karen Traviss' books! Time for me to read them, again. It's been a while and they're written extremely well! Excellent idea with the scar! It must've hurt that much that you can even see the scar through Atin's Katarn-class armor.

It's not actually visible through the armor, but I want it to mimic the actual scar. ()rr

I can't wait to see how your leg swap works out. I like the idea for your scaring paint work too.

Thanks, Tamer. I'll most certainly upload if things work out.

I applied the final piece of nose art! I added the "clanker killer" aurebesh text.

That looks great! It really adds to the ship a lot. About the only thing I might change is doing the Aurebesh with a clear background.

I agree very sweet, takes me back to working on the Clone Wars era stuff....I miss those days lol but looks amazing

So due to the ball turret arms "drooping" from the weight of the clone troopers inside, I'm coming up with a clever solution to the problem. I'm going to remodel some Crumb Bomber Gunship doors to fit my ball turrets on my gunship.
I'm going to cut out an appropriate sized chunk of the door so the turret arms float "at level" with the door and look appropriate.
The downside is getting the measurements correct to the millimeter...
-
That's a smart idea, indeed, RC! I'm confident you'll cut those omissions with highest precision.
But those turrets shouldn't bend under the weight of a single figure in the first place. Boo Hasbro!
-
It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Great idea. The idea of cutting into a gunship though, ouch!

Nah, just the door is getting cut. Nothing else!
-
I know, I know, but still ouch!
-
The main doors arrived today and I modified them. The smaller, forward doors are coming from England, so it will be a bit.

Glad you like it! I'm super excited to get the last two remaining pieces.
-
That's a serious modification! I saw your post yesterday when you added the first pic. Can't sign in on my cell phone anymore so I couldn't comment right away. Those gaps/omissions look as if they alays belonged there! This is seriosly such an improvement also for real combat. Man do I wish these Gunship exsisted...anyhew what a lucky strike that you own the TVC LAAT! All three Gunships I own don't have the extended door panels. So I need to find a solution to support the turret(s) for those. All I can say today is that you cut those parts out on the micrometer! Excellent precision there!
Excellent job!

What can I say. You have seriously upgraded your LAAT with these. Such a great way to stabalize them and still give it that tough look. Your doors look perfect. Frankly, this should be the way they do it if they ever do release a new gunship.

Wow! Very cool upgrade!

Couldn't agree more! Still waiting on the forward bulkhead doors. Then she will be the queen of the skies.

Wow! Very cool upgrade!
Thanks, man. Do you have custom vehicles? I know I've seen you do plenty of figures.
-
So does anyone else HATE how the gunship chin guns are crooked? Or cockeyed rather?
I fixed that.

Wow, so you found those doors loose on ebay? Brilliant! I think those are a couple more pieces to make molds of.
This is officially the best and most complete, best equipped and most accurate Republic Gunship based on the Clone Wars that I know of out in the web! Your master work definitely paid off to create this one of piece!

Why thank you, kind sir. I'm very proud of it, certainly!

Looks really incredible. I would say "definitive." The doors are a great addition for completing the look. Excellent job all the way 'round.

The Clone Wars Y-Wings are pretty sweet. Too darn expensive though, unfortunately. I managed to snatch this gunship up for a decent price compared to what it was normally going for. But it wasn't cheap. By any means...

Yep, these gunships are expensive everywhere i've seen then here in the UK so still not got one yet. i got an excellent deal on the y-wing, like half the normal price 8) its missing the missle pods though and the bombs from underneath

Those lights are great. Off to share.
Had hoped we would hear some news of a new Gunship yesterday, but nothing really was shared about the new Clone Wars other than the Ahsoka Figure and the Trooper.

My bad, miss read it ..they would probably ask silly money for it anyway going off the vintage line vehicles if they do one :'(

I really like how the lights turned out (and your pictures were good too!). Fantastic job with these little details, they make the ship most excellent.

Thank you! I took them in the pitch dark of my master bathroom. No light in there. LOL
-
Yeah, sorry I got your hopes up. Nothing was really shared on TCW at all this past weekend.
They did say that news would be coming out sporadically in a few months about other SW lines so hopefully we hear more then.
-
I had assumed there would be some kind of gunship release with the new Clone Wars season coming.
Dude, this really looks great. Love the light addition. Looks just right.

I like to think this gunship made it thru the entirety of the clone wars intact. From Geonosis to Order 66.
