I walked into a hole in the wall pharmacy while delivering mail today and they had 1999 "Episode I" figures (4 Jar Jars, 1 Obi Wan and 1 Padme) hanging on 3 pegs in their toy aisle.
It was weird to see 21 year old toys at a non-collector retail store.

Wow, makes you wonder what we might see ten years down the road when all the distribution errors make their way out.

21 year old "Star Wars" figures at TJ Maxx!
-
It’s like someone opened an old shipping container or something
It’s a blast from the past, dan

Dan do you know who found these and where?

I found them at the TJ Max's in Totowa, NJ.

That's pretty rad. I've heard stories of old finds but, never really seen any myself. I was watching Junkman and he claimed to have gotten an original Kenner Gamorean Guard at a KMart that was closing. It must have been sitting under the shelf for decades.

That is just outstanding Dan. Thanks for sharing them.
Did any of them say how they got on the shelf after so many years? They probably don't know. They just open boxes and put price things on and put em out. Great find though.

Not surprised honestly. TJ MAXX / Marshals gets such random junk every once and awhile. Back in December a local one had a lone 500th Vader in fare condition for $16 I just started laughing. I only wish the chain was more like it used to be. It seems places like 5below and Ollie's are replacement now for overstock product.

According to the clerk I asked, they just came in the most recent toy restock.

That quite amazing! Hasbro probably treats 3.75" fans with these figures to celebrate 50 years of Lucasfilm. They just forgot to slap those stickers on there. :D And only 6" gets the holo foil treatment...ah yeah and Pokémon cards. Very remarkable find, Dan!

I am almost wondering if someone bought newer toys and then just "returned" these.

Sooooo much product is always produced that it just sits around somewhere. Burlington coat factory for instance keeps getting the solo stuff in stock and even TMNT figures from over a decade+ ago! Sure the cards are all crushed, warped and faded but its proof enough. This Is why I don't like flippers since product Is around people don't need to cave and rush dollars for something. A perfect example is a few years ago I got a JORG SACUL for like $12 mint on card at a convention. I remember that figure was bonkers to get and why I never bothered. The celebration III Vader is also another that is around many places and even around $15 at a local vintage toy chain. Its just sad and annoying when you see people fighting for stuff without reason. I mean look at all the retro collection (even exclusive offerings) you know that stuff Is 99% not going to appreciate so why bother paying premiums. The more time passes the less It seems people care since its not like the 80's when people just destroyed and tossed everything. Heck POTF2 alone apparently made soo much sales from product produced that it's what apparently helped fund the prequel trilogy, so that's why soooooooooo much EP1 product was overproduced... as Francis Ford Coppola said "George owns a bank called: SW"

Thats a good point too. You gotta wonder what happened with all those other waves over the past ten years that were delayed or we never saw driving prices up for those figures, but might show up on the TJ Maxx shelves or Ollies one day.

I doubt it in this case as the clerk said they arrived from the warehouse and the stickers that TJ Maxx and Marshalls use come apart if you try to remove them. The stickers on these were clean and undamaged.

It will be interesting to see what other forgotten waves will make their way to retail. Just an interesting story Dan.
