Zed,

These seem to be getting funnier and funnier. The escalating vehicle/weapon scene was just wonderful, the GI Joe command centre threw me out, I didn't see that coming! I found it really funny.

You are the wild card of the pack, and your work is original, light-hearted and very funny. Thanks for continuing to entertain.

Thanks for that HB, means alot.

It's funny you talk about being light-hearted as there is a moment in the next chapter where I just felt the jokes needed to stop (and litterally I have the characters say so).  But then again I figure after 600+ pages of jokes I am entitled to just let two legends fight it out.

Believe me it is, it was rough because I basicly had to take over the living room for a whole day to get all the shots I wanted for this.  The pain of that is that if I foggot to grab something I was basicly SOL because set up takes a few hours.

Still it was fun as that sucker is a fun, fun toy as is the AT-AT.

Most of the time, it probably takes less time than you might think.  I will admit the Flagg and AT-AT fight is very labor intensive due to the backgrounds and everything (some of the pics have taken me over an hour each),   but normally it takes me a weekend to do a whole chapter dependant on effects, but I also have effects on file (like I only have five explosions that I change the shape of each time I use which helps out alot).

Best title ever!

Thanks, I tend to add "honey bunches" onto things all the time in my real world speech which people find humorous given the fact it's so unexpected.  Anyway I like useing the expresion (sparingly though LOL).

Zed, these are always so entertaining! I love toe personal references go you, it breaks the 4th wall in a funny way!

Heh, it's funny, about a month ago someone (who will remain nameless but definatly not from here) said I was "always self referenceing" meaning in a bad way which I scratched my head about at the time.  I tend to keep the 4th wall stuff in reserve but sometimes the situation calls for it, in this case someone pointed out something I had done months ago and to be honest forgot about, but that it looked like I was going somewhere with (BTW the "Venom Corps" are going nowhere unless I think of something new for them, they were just a means to poke at myself LOL).

Thanks again everyone.

Oh believe me, I tend to take comments like the one above with a grain of salt.  But I hope I never will get above input, I mean most of the time when people send me messages (generally through message boards but sometimes e-mails) they offer insights that I may not have considered.

Doing covers for the individual issues came about that way (indirectly, but it was still someone talking about the comic that lead me there, of course I still have to go back and put covers up for all the rest of them LOL)

But point being is I find input a good thing, it's those "you suxxors" comments I scratch my head about, I mean why bother LOL.  Thankfully I only get a few of those and useually dicect them anyway LOL.

No problem there, I have plans for up to another 6 months (not that I have that much of it done, just kind of know where I am going with all of this).  At any given time I have things planned out at least that far, but often I take side trips that turn out a bit more interesting too.  So six months turns into 8-10 given those little ideas that pop in.  NExt issue will be a prime example (and that is all I am saying for the moment  ;D Not spoiling anything yet).

I have found (and anyone who is doing any kind of creative endevor cam attest, and anyone starting one probably needs to write this down) that there are two types of "critisim"

1.   The troll type:  As we have been mentioning.  and I will tell you no matter how hard you try to not let it, the first troll will get to you on some level no matter what.  Thankfully this was not the first troll I had encountered so at this point I can recognize it for what it is, one part jealousy, one part envy and one part lacking in ability to do anything but tear at people and put them down for doing what they enjoy cause it makes what they do (to them) feel like nothing.  Odd thing is every, and I mean EVERY troll I have met eventually has thier day, and generally it's something big that I can enjoy from afar and know they did it to themself.  The only ones that get to me know are those who act like my firends but later when they feel they have an opertunity they just hit you where it hurts.

The most hilarous thing about that comment I mentioned earlier was it was in relation to a thread that had NOTHING to do with anything about toys, comics, dioramas, I mean nothing.  Clearly it was a statement to hurt and for a second it stung, jsut cause I thought the guy was a good guy, I was wrong, not the first time.

2.  The second type of critism is the kind I do value, generally they are aware that you are putting a ton of work into this stuff and act accordingly but at the same time the see room for imporvement and offer advice.  Those in the second catagory have really helped me evolve and caused me to push myself further than I ever thought I would go.  Anyway I try to be accessable to those types of people but the Trolls do make it very difficult at times LOL.

Title: Re: Scale Wars Issue 42: The Internet Strikes Back

Yes, to be honest there are some critiqueing comments in there of my old school comic (PS I keep meaning to repost that, darnit).

I had fun with it at least, been kicking around Uberfan for  about 3 years now (He actually made his first appearence in Toxie's Universe #5 I think, might have been #8-It was tht courtship of Mr. Luke's father was the name of it I can tell you that for certain).

Anyway his presentation always was an issue, how do I explain this fan who critisizes the comic constantly.  I finally just tossed him in with little explaination of how he got there, although I was orginally thinking he was going to do a reality show like Ramesy's Kitchen Nightmares, except he just barged in uninvited.  My idea was to have one page cross over with another comics (in other words we would post the same page on the same day) in which he did the same there, but the guys I contacted wouldn't go for it.  Oh well.

And a note, I am moving so I am force to put the comic on hiatus for a couple of weeks, hoefully no longer (but we all know how plans get sidetracked).  Anyway don't fear, the cliffhanger won't take that long to get into.

Just tossing this out here (as I did on Facebook) anyone got any issues with the background on the comic? Some guy on one of the webcomic message boards said it was too busy and distracting (yes he ment the starfield/Logo BTW). He also said it hurt the eyes so I was just seeing what other people thought as this is the first time (after putting it up almost a year go) anyone has said anything about it. Thanks

Personally I love your page layout, the moving pages over a static backdrop is my favourite feature.

One fault I'm finding is load times. You've done something that has meant the pages take ages to load..is it the size of the background image perhaps.

Oh and the guy who moaned about the pages....what will he complain of next? a sprained eyelash caused by moving his eyes around the screen as he reads your pages!!!

Thanks HB, coming from someone with your design skills tha means a great deal.

On load times, that was something I never thought about when I switched cameras, the one I use now is much more pixels than the one I used to use, I noticed too the pics were larger but did't realize it was effecting load times (but now that you mentioned it I get it).  I will fix that when updates start back up to facilitate quicker load times.

No clue what the guys deal is LOL.

A great point, and I did eventually find out but I had to view another board, but I will admit I read his comics and they were rather bland to say the least.

That is Warduke from the early 1980's Dungeons and Dragons line, he even made an appearence in the cartoon (He hit a tree and turned it to ice capturing Dungeon Master).  He is one of the earliest figures I had intereacting with my Star Wars figs (I just said he was tall LOL).

Believe it or not I got Warriors Three at my local Wal-Mart.  I just walked in and there they were, only time I have seen them or anyone else from the wave, and as far as I can tell the only time they shipped here (As helmeted Thor lingered for a month but no more of him showed up). dumb luck I guess

That is great luck. Since I've been getting my MU figs from BBTS, the only reason I go into the toy aisles anymore is to look for them and Sif.  I may have to go hunting for that  Warduke on e bay or something. I always thought he was awesome looking!

He and Strongheart are the easiest ones to track down from the D&D Line (they were carried over a few times)  Price can be an issue cause some think these are worth more than they are (Actually it's the second wave that was very hard to find).

I have seen him in a few yardsales and flea markets too, shouldn't be very hard to track down, but he is my fav of the sereis.

Sif is one I have been looking for as well. I saw a pic of her at NYCC with the name tag saying "Available: NOW"  I was like "Yeah, BS, obviously you guys haven't looked for her"  LOL.

HAHA, which part, it was a three part quiz.

That joke was born from a guy critizing me long ago for Dr. Doom's Dialouge (which is always grandious and arrogant and talks like he knows what he's doing even when he has no clue).  Anyway the guy misunderstood cause he wasn't a comic fan, (and never read the books in which Doom would act that way) and got all hot and bothered because he didn't get the joke, so I desided to make that aspect part of the joke here, I had fun with it anyway.

But it looks like you gotta start back over with Amazing Fantasy #15 to me LOL.

Vintage Maddness (with some noteable exceptions)

Please don't take that as a criticism!  I was just getting all built up with Toxie's origin, as well as that black stickfa ninja's origin, and thought perhaps there was going to be a convergence there at the end.  I was on the edge of my seat, and now I have to wait til the next episode!

Notes:  To say it's been a tough month is an understatement, and while I prefer to keep my private life a bit close to my chest and not broadcast it accross the interwebs, I just wanna tell everyone that might have been wondering about my updates that I really did have a big crisis (or three) and I really needed the two weeks off to heal and sort things out.  Life's better now and adjustments are made, no, it wasn't a death in the family or anything that drastic, just family drama that didn't need to exist.  At any rate updating should be back to normal for the forseeable future, on with the show.

In this exciting issue of SCALE WARS

Deadpool hops around in time (as if that isn't enough by itself)

Star Wars is further damaged

Discover why a T-Rex is wandering around 1;18th town

Vader and vengance

and the ever popular much, much more.

SOOO been a rough couple of months, sorry but that made my Scale Wars updates pretty paratic.

First up notice on the pages that I have a new Facebook Page for Scale Wars, "Like" it in order to get updates, reviews, or just because you like it ;-).

More on what had been delaying Scale Wars below.

In this exciting episode:

Annoymos Sucks

Batman is Peeved.

Deadpool goes on another trip.

The Iron Man army.

And the ever popular much, much more.

http://www.zedsjoesite.com/comic/54/01.html

So what has been holding things up is I have been working diligently on an honest to goodness published work.  The plan is to have a series of Novels set in the old west about a group of people who band together to combat evil horrors (ie Vampires, Werewolves, and things that go bump in the night).

The status on the novel is it's submitted and waiting approval.  But I am jumping the gun a bit and getting information out there with what I am calling "the beta site" since I am not finalized on the design of the site.  Once I figure it all out I will probably give it it's own URL.  For now it's a sub site to Scale Wars.

The Site contains character profiles, some short stories introducing the characters and other previews and such.  Content is still being uploaded so bare with me on it but I though it might be time to unveil the reason behind scale wars apparent delays.

Also, don't forget to "like" on facebook for more updates as they happen, or if you just like it ,-).  Link to FB page are also at the top of each page of SW this month.

http://www.zedsjoesite.com/badlands/badlands.html

And my photoshopped cover (totally not the real cover BTW, that has yet to be designed).

Been a very long time since I completed the last issue, I know.  Computer problems, some personal tragedy (I lost my dog of 14 years) and some personal upheavals have made updates pretty sparse on the old scale wars site.  But now the bumps have been gotten over and another issue is in the can.  Antron's master plan to snag alternate reality versons of Iron Man is in full swing and the heroes face one of their own in a larger (mostly) scale.  But a surprise guest star makes things very interesting.

In this issue:

Late night infomercials break into 1:18th town.

Hulk gets wussed.

The Iron Man army throws it's weight around.

Mistaken identity permeates the land.

And the ever popular much, much more.

Enjoy

In case no one has seen on the Scale Wars facebook page, At essence my whole computer had crashed completely.  The hard drive was unretreivable so the updates to SW have been on hold.

What exactly did I lose, Surprisingly not much.  I did lose the latest updates but everything else was backed up thanks to my paranoia.  At essence I am having to reshoot most of the next upcoming parts in order to get back on track.  That has proven a bit harder than I had anticipated but not terrible.  As for anything else, I did lose an article and a review for the new Superman figs (I'll spoil it for you, they suck, but not as bad as either GL or Batman figs from the past two years, they actually have an extra point of articulation LOL).

Anyway, I am up and running again with a new computer, but rebuilding everything is a bit daunting.  I am bogged down with my FINAL edit of my novel (Should be coming out soon, but the computer crash and a few other personal things have been delaying that, but this week should be very productive on all fronts).   But one great thing is I get to rearrange some stuff, I wanted a big event for the 1,000 update and then a big quest star in 1,001.  Problem was getting the "Guest" and it looks like the figure might arrive in perfect time and I can go with my original idea.  What is it?  Well that would be telling but I hope you will all enjoy it.

I just really wanted to let the sites that have supported me most over the crazy five or so years that yes, I am still around and yes scale wars is moving forward.  Delays happen but it eventually gets there if you have all notice LOL.

SO I will part for now with a reminder that the most up to date info is on the FB pages because it's easier to just post there, I also tend to post some funny pics and meme's to keep things alive (some of my creation, many not but fun all the same).  Links are below if you still haven't liked for some reason.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Glad to hear that you are still around. I am looking forward to seeing you review some of the new Black Series. The way some of the new 6inch ones seem to be looking from the online pics I have seen you may not be picking any up.

I kind of figured that would be your take on the new Man of Steel Figures too.

Thanks Tamer, I have decided to not redo the review for MOS because really it's just going to repeat what I said for GL and Batman figs.   Moving on to some more practical pursuits.

On the black series, I know I am picking up r2 and Vader, and probably fett, beyond that I am not sure but we'll see.

If they look as rough in the hand as some of the pics I have seen (like the pic Spooky just posted) it may not be many for me.

I only got Zod, and yes he's rough.  My daughter got me res supes for father's day (always rough when you try to act like you like something crappy LOL).  Compared with DCIH or the Microman Supermen (either the movie one or comic one) yes this is garbage.  I can get a joke or two out of him though.

He ought to make for some good comic relief on Scale Wars.
