Hello, everyone
I decided to branch out from the Custom Vehicle forum a bit to show off another aspect of the work I do.
By trade, I am a graphic artist but for the majority of my formative years I had convinced myself that I was going to be a comic book artist. Then I found out how much money I made once I got there and shortly became a graphic artist.
Anyway, I can work on photo manipulations such as the pics I've already posted of my finished vehicles. And I also work on the occasional web-comic from time to time..
The following are from a scrapped comic for dark horse..I had just gotten into comics and while these weren't the finished pages, these demonstrate my lack of knowledge of the time with Photoshop.
First off, they're set at 72 dpi and weren't printable and had to be re-done, but the story wasn't picked up so I never finished this off. I may come back to this one around the new year, but it's been about four years or so, it will need a bit of a re-write and some new artwork.

Oh......my......GOD!!!!
Dude (if I may call you Dude!), you have a talent I would kill for!!! I love the Star Wars comic, as I myself am creating one using figures. If only I could draw figures like you!
You are a man of many talents, and from now on I will be looking for more of your posts. Thanks so much for joining us and showing your amazing work.

-
I'm not certain I can say anything that hasn't already been posted, lol, but, GREAT WORK! I love the Quinlan Vos you did!
-
Wow,
You know..you guys have to watch how much you feed my ego. Pretty soon I'm going to be walking around here with sunglasses indoors and with a feather boa or two.
But seriously, thanks for all the kind words. Personally, I've been in one of those artistic slumps. And whenever I needed a slump buster, I've always turned to models, and even when I hit a rut with those I'm glad I was able to find something else around the house to tinker with. And finally landing here, kinda brings up my spirits enough to get back into the game with everything....including the comics.
I've been taking a look at everyone else's work to see what's been going on and I may try to fit my fan fic somewhere in your established universe. I'm glad there's plenty of talent here already and it's going to be good to get to know some of you a little better.
anyway..Tonight I'm going to be trying out some new banners and see which one sticks..

And hey, Wraith
I'll take that award and display that proudly on the mantle.

I decided to fatten up the font I chose quite a bit this time around.
Okay, so I figured out the avatar, but how do I add the banner to the bottom of my posts?
-
Triple S, you have done some spectacular work! If you're ever looking for concepts to work on, I have plenty! I'd love to see you do some renditions of my creations anyday!
-
I'll see what I can do, phatty.
Just let me know when you're ready.
-
cool, I like your comic and painting style a lot, well educated, it really attracts me. man, you have a hell of many wonderful talents!
-
brilliant stuff there mate!!! awesome to see great new talent here at the yards
the ultimate collaboration would be HB94 + Phatty + SSS + W9 = Spine Tingling & Breathtaking
-
Excellent job with the comics!! You are really talented!

Not sure when...I still have one commitment to get through for a web-comic that I'm already a month late with..but when I'm done with that, I may re visit this from the beginning and start this up again.
Again, thanks to everyone here at the forums. I was feeling a bit stagnant as of late and this has got me started again. For those interested, I'll send along some info on my current comic. It's not Star Wars, but definitely inspired by...and really not intended for those under 18. Not an X-rated comic, but just a violent vice laden villain who is my own answer the what I would do if I was Darth Vader.

I see as soon as someone better comes along you jump ship eh!!!:-)
-
No no no, my friend, not at all! You're my #1 Web Comic guy! I was just hoping to see what SSS could do graphically with a couple of my characters I've dreamed up is all!
-
Pat, dont worry I was only razzin ya a little! we're still good...
SSS, I'm so glad you've joined us, the communities Web comic / photo novel forums have gone very quiet and new talent is desperately needed. The image above is fantastic, it will be a huge hit here if your other images are anything to go by...
-
Glad to see the front page news got noticed! I will echo the sentiment about your great visual art..
Your signature has now been changed to include your graphic.
-
Oh wow
I usually leave a tab locked on the forum and haven't even seen the front page!
Allow me to extend a long overdue thanks you to Tamer and the rest of the staff for getting those up.
I hope I can live up to the expectation, i just hope the Jedi Kel Van Dorran doesn't end up becoming the worst thing to happen to the Star Wars universe since Jar Jar Binks. I'm still trying to read through all of the material and trying to get a grasp of the feel but I should have a vehicle update sometime this weekend as well..
I have a little time before running an errand tonight so I'm going to start working on the decal set for the Naboo fighter and I'll post an image of that work here later. And maybe an update image of the main character from Fall of the Jedi.

Darn, I just realized that I didn't update the current banner.
How hard would it be to replace it with this one, Tamer?
This one just shares the link to my channel full of my dull monotone videos and works in progress.
-
Typically, I have to do a few warm up sketches before jumping into a page.
Right now, I'm working on a comic about an assassin who lives more like a rock star than a villain. But before getting into that, I had to squeeze out a practice sketch of Kel Van Dorran. It's been about four years since I've actually drawn the character so there will be a distinct difference in the look.
Anyway, he's intended to be Obi-Wan's age..estimated about mid-thirties to forty.
-
Great Drawing man!!!

Not hard at all, just put the img code you used here into your signature block in your profile and you are all set. Let me know if you have issues and I can help with it.

Got one more for ya for the road before I head on out to work.
I probably shouldn't do this kind of stuff before work, cause then I'm a bit like Austin Powers and declare that I'm spent.
But I thought I should post this one here instead of the Custom Contest thread.
Again, I was fooling around with the action figures and took this pic on the desk..removed the background and added a new one. I keep saying the story takes place on Nar Shadaa, but I've never actually done any research to see if there are two moons. But can't wait to get back to this. Though I may use the excuse that FOJ is a warm up comic.
ANYWAY..

-
nice ! that looks a million mate ;D
-
Sweet. I wonder if any of the clones kept their heads?
-
veeeery nice!
-
Yes a very nice shot indeed! The city scape in the background has a graffiti feel to it more so than real. I like it. Great use of color and I like the two moons, they are reflecting some serious light!
-
That last sketch was awesome, s3!
Great use of line. It's like you were carving it with your strokes.
More drawings, please..
-
woow, nice image man!
-
Screaming Sam!
The photo is excellent, I love the vibrant colours and the backdrop is perfect. I remember playing a game called Dark Forces 2, where the hero, Dash Rendar (I think) has a mission in Nar Shadda. The environment portrayed was a vast, dark dingy metropolis, and I always remember thinking how awesome the place was. I hope that you show us more of this great Star Wars location.

Greetings to all,
I know I have come and gone faster than a one hit wonder, but in my defense..all I can say is that I got a little busy.
Trying to work on a comic book, and of course, I thought I could just sit down at the computer and whip one up on demand..just like that. But I have become a little heavy on the photo shop tricks and the comics were looking pretty sterile. Kind of like an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but anyway. I had an epiphany the other night while trying to shake some more cob webs. I need to draw this thing Old School..with a pen and paper.
In preparation for another small con..I have these ready. Just simple ink sketches.

fantastic drawings!!
yeah, there is nothing like the old school pen and paper, I know what you mean.
-
Great sketches! Is that a Wolverine-Punisher mash-up that I'm seeing? Your Frank Castle looks like Logan, but nothing wrong with that! :)
-
I thought my version of Frank Castle was looking more like Dirty Harry..that wasn't the intent, but just a happy mistake with the pen.
-
Sweet! Life is like that, we all get busy.
Expect to see these on our fp soon. ;D
-
... a happy mistake ...
ah, you too know the late Bob Ross ;)
-
Oh the old Bob Ross..yeah.
I loved that guy..he was great for great painting techniques. If it wasn't for him I would never have learned how to paint foliage in less than twenty minutes.
But I have another with plenty of mistakes...happy and not so happy.
The concept hit me only after watching tons of WW II documentaries on Netflix. You can't be a hero if you can't stop to think about the ones who fell behind your shield.
But thanks to all who have to come to check out my sketches.
-
I think that Captain America is my favorite for sure. Very good concept, great sketches!
-
Wow, another one is in here by the time I fp it.
Looks good Triple S.
-
Amazing, love wolverine!
