I've got 24 watchers on the boil auction. They really like those CW clones.

I made auctions for two new resin parts sets, today. I am up to 10 sets for sale now.
resin set #3  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=350186240302)

Here is the skinny clone wars resin set #10  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=350186244608) that some people have been asking for. I will probably list one of these sets at online auction, tomorrow night to build traffic.

Traffic overall has slowed down since last week. Continuing layoffs are probably the cause as is the approach of springtime and the appliccable cost of yardwork.
Waxer, however is getting hit on faster than Boil did. Part of it is because I had a cross promotion link to his auction on the bottom of Boil's auction. Word will get around if I keep listing customs as was the case in the past. If my stuff can build up hype about customs on ebay and more people start listing them, all the better.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, the number that you see on that counter in the auctions is the number of different PCs that have looked at that auction, not the number of page views that it got. The traffic report program that I told Pat about is one of the included perks of owning an Ebay store. I can see the page views each of my auctions  get as well as alot of other info, when I use that program.

I didn't know that. I thought it was just page views.

27 watchers on the Waxer auction at this time. You know, I think I got the names mixed up on those two.
If I get any time, I will be ready to list Pond by Saturday. I sold two items, Monday but they haven't paid, yet.

UPDATE: 34 watchers now and one of the two buyers paid. He bought a resin set.

I just listed this  Clone Commander Ponds and Ryloth Diorama  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=350189297901) auction. I have a feeling about this one. I'll have pics of this one in both my customs and diorama threads.
Title: Re: Clonehead's Ebay Store and auctions

He got up to 36 watchers.
Well, the Waxer auction went for twice what the Boil one went for which is a nice trend. I believe it was the bird logo that won them over. I think that the Ponds auction could likely double that price again which makes me wonder what ebay sacrifice I should make next. I was thinking either a skinny clone painted up like an incinerator trooper or another Boil, this time with a removable helmet and a little Ryloth dio like the Ponds auction has.

Thanks buddy. If I do the incinerator trooper, I may make a little dio for him like the Ryloth one but a different color. I picked up 6 more of those little dio plaques, yesterday and some more diorama snow, as well.

I do like those little dios. It just makes the figure stand out a lot more imo. Can't wait to see what you do with em and where your mind takes you with em as well.
Title: Re: Clonehead's Ebay Store and auctions
Post by: Clonehead on April 13, 2009, 07:09:30 AM
Thanks, buddy! It's hard telling where my mind could take me................I'm thinking "out to breakfast for a biscuit and gravy" LOL

The Ponds auction already has 22 watchers and 3 bids and after some research, it turns out that I did get the names switched on the Waxer and boil auctions. I will get it right, next time. I'm thinking that I might make the skinny Incinerator trooper, this week, with a black and grey rocky dio. I have been researching CW Gree's look for a future ebay custom that I may base on a Cody figure.

Oh, I have 4 Ebay items to ship, today. One goes to Canada and one goes to Mexico.

Yep, and just at the right time, too, as my real job has been getting slow.
With the economy, the ebay buyers have been frugal with their money. That much is obvious and it takes some work to get them to buy.
If I keep going like this, I will have a lot of repeat lookers and mabey some repeat buyers.
I had a guy write me, today, looking for some commision work. I'm not sure he knows what he wants but if it's something cool, I wouldnt get any traffic out of it.
They are hot on the Ponds auction, that's for sure.

Turns out, he was wanting a Commander Stone fig, you know, the one that went for $172, last week.

18 bids, now. The highest bidder just put a higher one on. 28 watchers and 331 page views from 257 different PCs, so far.

That higher bid scared away 4 watchers on the Ponds auction. I could have started him at a higher price but then the fees go up.

I threw on this all  RC head set  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350190650544&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BID_Stores_IT&refitem=350189297901&itemcount=12&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m184&_trkparms=algo%3DDR%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D12) for 10 days, yesterday for some more traffic. I have been asked for an all RC set, several times in the past. The guy who asked me for Ponds and Stone figures wanted me to quote him a price, yesterday. I directed his attention to last weeks Stone auction and suggested that he make me an offer.

I took a commision order for 5 RC heads, today.

I listed that Clone Wars style  Incinerator trooper and diorama  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350190986404&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BID_Stores_IT&refitem=350189297901&itemcount=12&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m184&_trkparms=algo%3DDR%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D12) today, to run for 10 days.
There is a touch up that I need to make to the red paint to the left of his visor that is bugging me. I am going to fix it but by the time I take new pics, someone will have bid on it and I won't be able to switch the pictures. Don't you just hate that?

Thanks for the FP story, Tamer! Ebay traffic has been kind of slow, this week. I hope it picks up by this weekend. I think I have had more custom traffic in here than I have had out there, in the last few days. That is unusual. I have a few online auctions that end, this weekend. but, have only sold one thing out of the store, all week, and that was a custom made auction for a commissioned resin set.
I may list a couple of videogame items, this weekend, that I don't need anymore.

I was kind of dissapointed with how the Ponds auction went. He ended up going to a Mexican bidder for much too cheap, IMO. At the rate of traffic that the Incinerator trooper auction is getting, I would expect about the same. The economy has the bidders tight with there money, that's for sure.
I may start listing custom figures in my store, that way, I can set a price without it costing so much to do so.

not a bad idea. Perhaps do an auction every once in awhile with one that doesn't put you out too much in material or time and then link that auction heavily to your store where the real goodies are so to speak. You do need to get paid for all that hard work.

I had one parcel returned to me, yesterday, marked "no such street". After confirming with the buyer and checking on google maps, it was a mistake on the part of the postal carrier. I will bring this to the attention of my postmaster, today in an attempt to correct any such mistake in the future as I mail it for the second time, out of my pocket.

Darn posties, seems like they are good for about 2 mistakes a year on my stuff.

I am pleased with the response to an auction for all RC heads that I have going on, now. They always did like the RC heads. Those and the Mando heads. I am shipping out a commisioned order today, that includes roughly 35 resin pieces not including the 15-17 optical rangefinders that I put in there. About 10 of the pieces were freebies that I threw in because he had made such a big order. That buyer was partial to the mando helmets.

RC head set  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350190650544&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr12_PcY_BID_Stores_IT&refitem=350189297901&itemcount=12&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m184&_trkparms=algo%3DDR%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D12)     Here is a link to that one auction. I made a revision to it that states that because of the response, I am adding 1 free rc head and will add an additional free head for each dollar jump that the bid makes over it's current amount of $10.50.  They should like that.

Here are a couple of pics of all of the parts that I cast and cleaned up, this weekend and yesterday.
Better than half of this hoard went to one buyer that had requested a custom made auction for some particular pieces. Mostly, mando heads and rangefinders. Look at all of those range finders. I'm so glad that I made a mold to cast those seperately.

I'm happy to report that, this far, this has been a better week as far as sales from my store are concerned. I would like to thank Dana r a, for the big parts purchase. I'm down at the lake, now, with only my iPhone for Internet access and won't be able to get your order out till next week. You forgot to wait for your shipyards member discount but I can assure you that your free parts bundle will be a biggie.

There still not hitting on that custom figure like they should be.

I believe that my next figure auction will be placed in my store for a set price.
I just can't see them going for so cheap.

Shawn, I believe that you have inspired me to paint up a legacy AOTC incinerator trooper, this week.
As mentioned earlier, I had sold some resin parts sets, this weekend and look at this big bundle of sets that I am shipping out to one buyer, today. See that bagged bundle of free parts on the left? That's a promotion that I offer to buyers of multiple parts auctions if they pay the full shipping price for all of the auctions. The more auctions that they buy and pay the full shipping price for, the more parts that they get. This buyer bought 4 sets and paid full shipping so, I put 16 parts into his free parts bundle, randomly chosen from the ten sets of parts that I have available and from the parts that I haven't listed in a set, as of yet.

Remember that all RC helmet set that I listed last week? It was so popular that I listed another one, this week.

So that's why you didnt make it in time for the incinerator trooper auction. I shipped that one to the UK, today. I shipped the Fett you were asking about to Spain, today, also. I got another big one headed to Canada but he hasn't paid yet.

I listed another resin set of RC heads, this week.  Here  it is. Let's see if it does as well as the one that I sold, last week.  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=350195295170)

I can't believe that they arnt hitting on that RC head set like they were last week. Just last week, it was a hot item and this week, hardly anything. Last weeks possibly got some cross-promotion traffic from the incinerator trooper auction but not much. I am working on an all mando head set to list tonight. Perhaps that will stir things up, a bit.
They always did like the mando heads.

That is an interesting pic, Alex. Some sculpting would be required on that one, I think.
Is that top shot of an actual factory figure?

That RC head set went for a whopping 99 cents, last week. You customizers missed out on a cheap one.

You are right there, buddy. This time, I chose the less risky path of listing a custom figure in my ebay store.
Here is a link to my ebay store 's homepage where you can find the auction for one of my AOTC Incinerator troopers.

I noticed that he hasn't gotten alot of looks, as of yet. Ebay said that they were going to give more exposure to store listings in a general search rather than just sticking them all at the bottom of the searched item list. I do see other people's store items in the list. Anything that has more than 10 days left is a store item. I went through the whole Star Wars custom list, today, and didnt see that incinerator trooper auction.

it does make one wonder if they make one pay to get to the top of the list so to speak. Like the featured items that show up when you do searches.

Well, there is that option when you make an auction. I haven't told you about that, yet. it's all about how much you want to spend when you list. There are the keywords that you use in the title to consider, also, as well as what catagory you list it in and if you want to pay to list it in two catagories. I do not believe that the subtitle under the auction name applies as far as the keywords go.

That RC head set went for a whopping 99 cents, last week. You customizers missed out on a cheap one.

Wish I'd known about that auction.  I musta felt the reverberations of a missed deal in the Force and started looking on ebay for parts right about then.  That's ok, I'm nibbling on the Mando helmet auction.   >:D

Yep, I feel your nibble.
What's funny is that another similar RC helmet set auction from the week before went for over $16. Weird, huh?

I just listed that second Clone Commander Ponds figure  Here  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350200578013) for a starting price of 0.99 cents. Here's hoping that he does better than the last figure that I listed in an open auction like this.

Thanks buddy but the hype caused by the stolen factory MOC ponds auction that was listed two days after my custom version kind of killed the hype for mine and as a result, he went for a paultry $21.
Now the Boil auction seems to be causing some excitement and why wouldn't it? There are no stolen factory representations of him that are listed. Wish me luck on that one.

They are hitting on that RC auction but It won't go for what it would of a year or two ago. People's pocket books are just too tight.
Being back to work for a week and a half now, I would expect my sales to drop as I don't have time to stir the pot everyday like I did last month. I am still looking at more than $900 in sales for the last 30 days and my feedback is 9 points shy of breaking 1,000.

You going to crank it up, doc? I can help if you need.

Yeah - I seriously need to get hopping and start cranking out some casts.  Man, having the whole family get sick right when the temps hit my shut-down point (90*+ and now over 100!) really affected my drive to get much done.

BUT!!  There's a couple of things in the wigs that may happen here (HALO helmet casting and getting out from under some bills) that would go a long way towards helping my mood and desire to cast!

I am in the process of making a listing for a new resin set on ebay today. This will be the first of two trooper weapons sets that I plan on making available and this one contains 10 parts. 1 sandtrooper rifle,1 large tac clone rifle, two rots clone commander pistol holsters with pistols"right and left", and two clone wars pistol holsters with pistols"right and left"
The part count is higher and the guns are a bit harder to clean up than the helmets are so I will list this set with a higher price than my other sets but will make the set in my store cheaper than the one that I list on open ebay.

Jay, can you help me with the proper designations of the weapons shown and I will add their proper names in the listing?

got it listed. Here is the  cheaper store version (http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Custom-Resin-Trooper-Weapon-Set-1-Loose_W0QQitemZ350296387865QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item518f4ab119) of that auction.

I will have to look to see if there's more but I know that I have Denals, probably a Cody, Some Rexes, a 501st, and one or two plain clones. I will have to check if the plain ones have the newer helmet or  not.

Nope, I'm all out of plain white animated clones. I can add a couple of Gree and Echo figures to the list, though.

Ebay has just announced a major rate hike in the spring and as a result, I will either have to let my store go or shrink it substantially. I have a need to move alot of my inventory and I am putting the word out there that for any of my items that are not Star Wars related, I am taking offers. On those items, I won't be real picky as long as shipping fees arn't an issue. As far as the Star Wars items go, heck, make me an offer and I might go for it. I will be looking at shrinking my inventory one way or another so act now, before I start unlisting these items. Just send me a PM with your offers.

How much do you sell resin hollowed ARF helmets for?

Send me a PM if you want, clone general. Mine are just like the factory arf helmet but my arm could be twisted to hollow out some for a fee. I should hollow out a factory one and mold it hollow. I don't know if I have an extra or not.

Just got a note from Ebay today that says I am now a bronze level powerseller. I guess I met the requirement for enough items sold in the last three months.

That info is about 5 years out of date. It's a pricey venture anymore, starting a store.  If I wasnt so established, I might let mine go.

Since ebay's idiotic format change of two months ago, my sales have plummited.
I am seriously considering dropping my store subscription after five years.

Not something I want to do as my sales have gotten me out of a jam more than once but it looks like they dug a grave that I'm not going to be able to get out of.

I may give it another month and see what happens.

How did their format change affect your sales?  Are you harder to find, or what?

Even though I am a top rated seller and should be at the top of the list, the thousands of 99 cent listings make me harder to find, I believe.

I hear you loud and clear, CLint.  That is exactly why I am all but non-existent on ebay anymore.   Top it off with the fact that overall, the selling prices are through the floor, it just isn't worth it anymore.  As you know, I too had a store at one time.   Its a joke in my opinion.   They take a ridiculous percentage of sales and then the monthly fees from ebay AND paypal, and you have little left.   One great example:  I sold two sideshow Joes for a friend, first paypal took roughly ten percent . . . then I got my monthly billing statement from ebay, which also took ten percent.    Result = for 300 dollars worth of sales, I had to pay 60 dollars!!
Next time, I am thinking I am going to run an ebay add that says please contact me to make an offer on this item.    See if ebay catches on.    The worst they can do is end the item.  I am going to run it as a buy it now, and include a list of things to sell.

Its about time I continued our Ebay Series this time with our very own the Clonehead!

I have probably known Clint almost as long as I have been in this hobby and I consider Clint a good friend in addition to one of the best custom artist I know. His work schedule as a rigger is always dependent on weather, but he is always dabbling in the best parts and pieces and that you need to make that great custom figure or diorama. First off just go check out his ebay store (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575055288&toolid=10001&campid=5337371392&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fstores.ebay.com%2FClints-Toys-and-Video-Games%3F_rdc%3D1) and then take a look at his Resin Casted SW and JOE Products (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5575055288&toolid=10001&campid=5337373868&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fstores.ebay.com%2FClints-Toys-and-Video-Games%2FCustom-Resin-Star-Wars-GIJOE-%2F_i.html%3F_fsub%3D15%26_sid%3D171379787%26_trksid%3Dp4634.c0.m322).

Custom Heads that are really popular. Shawn was always the bigger promoter of my store around here as I never cared to push it that much in this place of creative wonder.
I do consider my parts listings a more current view of what is in production in lieu of the list in my other thread here. Molds wear out, I replace what I need or want when I can. It's an ongoing mystery of messy magic around here.

Anyways, some of the other toy listings and what not in the store have been sitting around too long and while I have been running some sales to try to shake some of the stuff, I found myself marking some stuff down by %50 the other day.
There are some vintage 80s figs without accessories in there for $2.50
Seems like I marked some more modern stuff down as well
Might be a Joe fig for half off in there
Periodically, I may continue this bigger markdown type of sale to try to shake some more inventory
Oh, I had never put parts on sale before till this year but buyers have responded to it well so keep looking to see that happen in the future.

Thanks

Shawn, I need a banner or something to embed, shipyards logo wise, into my auctions. I doubt it would transfer over to their mobile version though
