nice welcome to the yards

nice welcome to the yards
Thanks! It's great to be here. I hope everyone takes a few minutes to read the text that accompanies my customs as the stories are just as important as the customs themselves :)
-
These are both spectacular and extraordinarily creepy at the same time! Religious cults are super-intriguing; we just can't take our eyes off them!
-
Wow, I don't know where to start after seeing so many cool customs. I must say Eiko Skel is my favorite.
-
This guy is frikkin' awesome! Nice use of the clone scuba body to give him the trooper look. There's nothing better than Imps and aliens!
-
The New Republic troopers are phenomenal, but I have to say that Jahnda the Hutt is my fave of the whole bunch! Who wouldn't love an armored Hutt??? that's right, nobody! ;)
-
Your version of Batman is absolutely outstanding! Futuristic, sleek, and definitely fits in the SW universe in this look. I love the Knightwing droid: makes me kinda think that he'd use that tail in some menacing way (like how the facehuggers in Alien get their work done). You've got a portfolio of work that is not only extraordinarily imaginative, but highly, highly interesting to boot. Can't wait to see what else you've got up your sleeve!
-
The Spectre's customs are a mix of a good backstory with a recipe so we (admins and mods) have decided that this is predominantely more custom so get ready for some custom viewing. There are tons of em here. I am gonna feature them on the fp little by little. Wow.
-
The Spectre has some great customs combined with some great backstories.
-
Holy crap, Spectre, this is going to take me a week to catch up on! So many awesome customs, and I only got through page 2 so far! I LOVE the tribbles, that is hilarious!

Thanks!
I feel VERY strongly that a custom should have a "reason" to exist beyond just "looking cool" so just about every custom I do has a fairly well thought out (to me anyway, your mileage may vary LOL) backstory. I have a ton of customs that I will be posting later today that (for the most part- my oldest work has very little in the way of write ups) all have their own stories or are part of linked stories, but are not part of my larger storylines that are already posted. There will be new "chapters" of the stories posted as I finish more figures, when they are posted, they will have their storyline title in the post heading so everyone knows where they belong.
I am glad that people are getting a kick out of my work and I am enjoying seeing the work others have already posted in the forum (I promise I will comment on your work eventually :) ).
-
cool!
-
yet again COOL !, rip looks awesome
-
neat!
-
these are sweet can we get a parts list fo the MST3K figures
-
these are sweet can we get a parts list fo the MST3K figures
They were made from nothing but spare parts and greebles so parts list would be next to impossible to do, sorry :(
-
Absolutely stunning customs, the detailing and the paintwork is gorgeous.
-
I haven't looked through all your figures yet, but so far my fav is "The Shadow Before The Storm."
-
Amazing body of work here. I have seen the first 3ish pages somewhere before. I love your paint aps.
-
Too much custom goodness to take in all at once! I'm slowly working through each page, savoring the flavors as I go. I'm trying to limit myself to a page per day!
-
Great customs dude!
-
Via Google: Today is the 119th Anniversary of the first documented Ice Cream Sundae...Have a happy Sundae!
-
I've long since ran out of adjectives to describe how superlative Spectre's work is.
-
I am glad that my work is going over so well, it really makes me feel good when people enjoy my stuff :)
There is lots more to look forward to in the coming weeks! I have a bunch of new figures all assembled awaiting painting (which is the most time consuming part of this hobby) which i will be sharing as they are finished :)
-
WOW :o
that's an impressive mass of custom figures
the quality of each figure is fantastic
you are very talented

-
Those re awesome!
-
awsomeness!!!!
-
wow, superb work!
-
great work Spectre
The PPSh was a good weapon. My grandfather used a capured PPSh-41 during WW2.
Austria used the weapon until the 60s.
-
Cool Bust man!!! :o
-
Love the bust ups! Those are a perfect medium to customize.
-
Sweet bust ups. On the front page.
I plan on taking some time to get into these threads this weekend. What a great time I plan to have.
Thanks for sharing your work Spectre.
-
hey where did you get the smallCthulhu statues?
-
wow your work is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love the stormtrooper bust
-
hey where did you get the smallCthulhu statues?
They are tokens for a "Cthulhu" RPG that is now out of print. I still have a few of them left that will possibly be used in upcoming projects.
-
Dude these rock bro!!!!
-
Really nice job!!
-

could you part with one?
-
Wow. Very nice. I think we need all the Imperials we can get. Excellent backstory too.
On the front page.
-
Yes, it's great to see an Imperial Officer, I love the expression on the guy's face...
Simple, yet effective custom!
-
Ooo he looks particularly nasty... the baton helps. And as to the rest of your gallery... wow. The Nazgul, the Cthulu cult, all just amazing, I love em. You do villains very well. ;D
-
great custom and great back story
excellent work
-
Great custom and back story indeed!
-
Very Cool! ;D
-
Spectre! That is a great backstory, a seamless mesh between 2 different Universes! The custom itself is very cool, some nice, crisp lines and paint apps. The Green Lantern symbol on his left breast looks great as well! I'm really digging this one.
-
Very cool!! :)
-
Wow, looks great. On the front page.
I like the sound of how you got GL into the Star Wars Verse.
-
Shawn beat me to getting it onto the front page!
-
I've never been a Green Lantern fan, but your fig looks fantastic. Excellent job on the paint detailing!
-
Thanks guys! I am glad everyone is digging this one! I will have some more customs soon, work and life have been pretty hectic lately limiting my "hobby time" but that will soon change :)
-
That GL is too cool! I love mashing universes together and wanted to do a GL/SW fig for a while. Good work!
-
"...all 12"? Wow. Can't wait to see 'em all in a Council Meeting. OH! An intergalactic Improtant Beings Conference should be held between the Guardians and the Jedi Council! Someone get on that dio RFN!
-
I got in here this morning to put the GL Update on, but then I saw the spotter/sniper team and was blown away. That is one cool group Spectre. Definitely on the fp.
-
Cool Stuff!
-
awesome job on that team.
-
The head sculpt swaps fit these guys well...those are the EE Mando 2-pk, correct?
-
The head sculpt swaps fit these guys well...those are the EE Mando 2-pk, correct?
I'm not really sure where they came from. They were just 2 heads from my heads box that fit the neckballs and had matching skintones. They could be the heads you listed as I did have those figures at some point.
-
NICE job on all these - I like the use of the modded JOE Firefly back pack on the Endor troops & good use of the MU Hydra troop body for the GL custom 8)
-
Always enjoy your work... I remember all the cool crossovers you used to make with Cobra "Brotherhood of the Serpent" into the SW universe... and all your cool vehicles. I really like that Cortix custom a lot. Looks fantastic.

-
Oh yea! These 2 look great!
-
GREAT STUFF!!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!
-
Pretty cool pieces!! :)
-
Very Cool!
-
Very nice work Dan! I love your incarnation of these characters! The dio is great as well.
-
Wow. I remember that dio set piece from awhile ago and daggone it looks great. I love how you are mixing Ben10 with MOTU. I love the customs, especially that purple kitty.
I am gonna go nuts waiting for the rest of the story and hopefully seeing you do a version of this with the MOTU Heroes. Nice work. It will be on our fp soon.

You want to see the Heroes, you say? Well, there is a "TO BE CONTINUED..." at the end of this chapter... :)
I am glad that everyone is enjoying this last update. Look for some more new customs next week!
-
These are cool. Love the Battle Cat.
-
Holy, [expletive deleted]!! These are freaking awesome! MORE! But not Orko, 'k?
-
LOL DO. As a matter of fact this custom post has gotten me and my daughter started on watching He-Man on Netflix. That have all 100 episodes. It is pretty cool to hear her go through the house shouting by the power of Greyskull.
-
I just got lost in your thread dont think i can make my way back out!!!
I remember alot of stuff from Joecustoms? I think
your Stargate stuff is amazing and the MOTU is just wonderful to look at
-
Wow...those are very cool!
-
Awesome
-
Very Cool! I remember the concept from a cartoon. Which one was it? Centurion?
-
Awesome!
-
Wow Dan those are awesome!! They blow my efforts right out of the water!!! Excellent work my friend :)
Btw pm incoming re B7!!
-
They are really cool!
-
Great job love the ACE he look's so epic! ;D ;D
-
Just awesome work Dan. Awesome.
On the front page, love the stories you create too.
-
Awesome work updating the Centurians!
-
Nice! Every post gets better & better!
-
Thanks for the kind words on the Centurions, guys!
I had initially wanted to do them with actual modular accessories, but it didn't work out as the thin pegs kept breaking off when trying to switch out the accessories so I scrapped the ideas for additional weapons systems (for now anyway - I have an idea as to how to represent them without actually applying them to the figures but it's far in the future).
I actually assembled these guys back in late 2009 but never got around to painting them until this past weekend so it feels great to finally have them done :)
-
Nice job on that Nikto!
-
Nice Nikto. Back on the front page. Still really liking those Centurions, man I am hoping to see the heros from Eternos too. Me and my little girl was MOTU a few times a week. You gotta love Netfiix for all those old toons.
-
Rare Earth Magnets could be an option for parts-swapping awesomeness. I've used them in most of my works that have backpacks.
-
Very Cool!
-
Sick! ;D
-
Wow, you were quite busy! That is a great assortment, all done very well! can't wait to see them in action with your customs!
-
What an awesome collection of melee weapons! Now cast 'em and offer 'em up in yer trade post, LOL.
-
impressive. I may have to see about buying some.
-
Nice custom weaponary. You can't whack it mate.
-
Awesome update, sorry it took me so long to get it on the fp, but its there now! ;)
-
Awesome work Dan! I love them all!
-
These look great, how did you create so many? Are they casts?
-
These look great, how did you create so many? Are they casts?
Thanks!
Each one was hand made from several different, very small parts and then painted. I do not have the skills nor the equipment to cast, I wish I did :(
-
Looks good. Off to the front page.
I also wanted to ask if that was you I heard on I believe it was a JOE Oriented Podcast last week or so? Very nice.
-
AWESOME! He look's really smooth! ;D
-
Looks good. Off to the front page.
I also wanted to ask if that was you I heard on I believe it was a JOE Oriented Podcast last week or so? Very nice.
Thanks!
Yes, that was me. I am one of the 3 hosts of the new Joe Customs.com podcast. We are recording our next (second) show on the 16th for broadcast sometime the week after.
-
VERY COOL ;D
I love this figure. Great job.
I agree we need more background characters BIG time.
-
Awesome job man
-
Well done!
-
Awesome!
-
Ah yes, the rebel alliance, representing multiculturalism and diversity across the galaxy. Except in ANH where they were all white guys, but whatever. :P
Very nice, I like this guy, rebel troopers could use a few more species.
-
Shes HOT! >:D :D LOL! ;)
-
Looks great to me. On the front page.
Is this the Illum Padme head?
-
Looks great to me. On the front page.
Is this the Illum Padme head?
I believe it is, not 100% sure, but I think it is.
-
I'm all for gender equality in the imperial military!! Nice work!
-
Great updates
-
Nice, I am gonna use these as our contest update for today.
-
Nice we could use more background type characters like these in our SW Verse.
-
The Tatooine waif child came out really well!
-
Thats another nice one, buddy!
-
Wow, looks like he walked out of the Cantina. On the front page.
-
What is that head? Men In Black? I recognize it but don't know from where, it looks great.
-
Great kit bash!!!! :)
-
Thats a lot of Guardians. Didn't know there was that much diverstity to them. Looks good. Back to the front page.
-
Nice, can't wait to see more. Back on the front page. Tolkien is still in my top five list of favorite authors.
-
Nice bit of diversity there, Dan. They needed to make more different goblins for this line. That was half the fun of the toy biz collection of mine, finding the goblins.
-
I didn't get to see The Hobbit in the theater. I am upset that I never had the time. But these are great customs.
-
Great stuff Dan!
-
WOW your dioramas are epic!!!!
-
I didn't get to see The Hobbit in the theater. I am upset that I never had the time. But these are great customs.
Mungo, the home video release is on the 19th. If you are like me, however, you will wait for the extended edition release later in the year in time for the holidays.
-
That one in the middle with the bull ring is for the win. Back on the front page. You must be clearing out those K-Marts of their goblins. Ah, I do enjoy the Hobbit and LOTR.
-
These are really well done !!! And just in time for the release of the hobbit today too Great job!!!
-
Awesome Goblins! I love the details you have added, what an awesome diorama you now have!
-
Nice work on the Goblins. I finally got to see The Hobbit. It was a great movie!
-
Nice work on the IMPs too!
-
Buddy, I am a bit jealous of all of those goblins. I need to find me one.
Those caps turned out great, Dan! who is the female head on that officer? I must have that head.
-
I really like those Imperial Technicians, back on the front page.
-
Excellent job on the imp. technicians and the redhead !!
-
who is the female head on that officer? I must have that head.
I think that's the Shira Brie head, was from one of those Rebel pilot packs from 4-5 years ago or so. Legacy (white) collection, I think?
-
Nice work on the Goblin army!
-
Looks great Dan. Back on the front page with more comments.
-
this figure looks like it came just out of the package.. Very nice..
-
Nice one, Dan. I would have picked that one up off the shelves, were it there to pick.
-
I like the smooth parts combo. Looks like a factory produced fig to me. Good work Dan.
-
It's amazing how easily some figures come together and how well the parts work sometimes. These are the types of Rebel soldiers we should've gotten more of from Hasbro---even though they'd be classified as "EU" (which I believe Hasbro thinks is the death-knell for selling figs)... ::)
-
I love this set. Dan, please tell me you are gonna build a diorama for these guys. I could see you doing an I.M.P.S. set where that signal crewman backs up the AT-AT in the Star Destroyer. Bravo sir.
On the front page and our Facebook Page.
-
Seriously cool! :)
-
Dude, I am loving the figs! Nice work!
-
I agree, those look great - the accessories for these guys are stellar.
0/
-
Pretty cool! This is a figure that I think is one heck of a sculpt and I like the color scheme you chose. I picked up one of these purely for customizing, though it will be awhile before I get to it.
Did you add the shoulder armor? Looks like the stuff that came with the Evolutions Mandalore figure...
-
Great looking figure.
-
Wow, I agree. It looks great. I like the story on this one too. Off to the front page.
-
Just came across this feed man, great stuff! Very inspiring.
-
I like it. I absolutely loved Zombie Troopers and Red Harvest and would love to see that series continue. I will be eagerly looking forward to October. On the front page.
-
I like it. I absolutely loved Zombie Troopers and Red Harvest and would love to see that series continue. I will be eagerly looking forward to October. On the front page.
Thanks!
I didn't like the overall presentation of "SW Zombies" as depicted in "Deathtroopers" so I never read "Red Harvest". This series will be more of a straight up "Night Of The Living Dead"/"The Walking Dead"-style zombie story, following the rules set up for zombie behavior/traits/etc. in that series of films/comics (with just a touch of the non-silly "Resident Evil" stuff tossed in as they complement each other quite well.).
I have been wanting to do this series since 2005 but for some reason or another it never came to fruition until now :)
-
Death Troopers, I messed up my titles. Too many to remember, but I can see your points. I had a bit of a time thinking the zombies from that series were able to actually manipulate lasers and ship controls. I did like Red Harvest and the whole Sith angle though. I love zombie anything.
-
Nice. Has an old school Romero vibe. I like the fact that it's scary without being too gory.
-
I like him. I agree he would make a great addition to any space themed cantina or ship. Off to share.
-
It's like "Star Wars Throwback Time". Great work!
-
He looks kinda like something you would have seen in the original Marvel run, which is why I like him :)
-
Liking him!
-
Looks good to me Dan. I swear I have seen that head on a custom before, but can't place it. Anyhow, off to share.
-
I love that head sculpt! Very cool looking and simple figure to make Dan! Great choice on the body for him. Also like the previous spacer you made. He does look like a throw back to the Marvel Comics!
-
That alien head is perfect for star wars. Cool quick custom.
-
YES!!! Well Done! I love these kind of cross overs!
-
See I knew Star Trek and Star Wars Fans could get along. ;D
Off to share. Very nice Dan.
-
Nice, that is one great Dalek Army. Off to share.
-
Like them! I am reminded of the Dapol Dalek classic 4 pack. Where did you get the arms from? Or did you mold them yourself?
-
always a pleasure to see some Doctor Who customs !! great job with the Daleks !! Hope to see more from you!!
-
Thanks everyone!
More "Doctor Who" customs are in the pipeline as I come up with parts recipes.
The additions to the manipulator arms are modified parts from other toylines or scratchbuilt.
-
Those are fantastic Daleks.
Say, Spectre, you wouldn't happen to have any spare Matt Smitth Doctors lying around, would you? I require one for fodder.
-
Sorry, only ever bought the 1.
Try www.whona.com, they have both versions of 11 in stock.
-
Sorry to say that I have somehow missed out on your customs before today. Just finished looking through this whole thread and I have to say that you have some truly impressive customizing skills. Your parts choices are also really cool and often unexpected. Fantastic work, all around.
-
YIKES, WHAT AN UPDATE!!!
Some ingenious mix and matching of parts for these, very individualized, and hard to believe they're all the same base figure!
I've grabbed a few of these myself, and plan on doing something with them, though only currently used one for a custom Skeletor.
Keep up the good work!
-
Holy Geez! I was expecting to see 3-4 orcs and then I'm scrolling and scrolling...and scrolling...and scrolling. Just so much Tolkien goodness here...and the fact that they're all individualized makes your work here even more amazing! I'm partial to that Warg Rider Archer with the painted face...creepy!
-
Whoa... whole orc army there. They never did have the uniformity of the Uruks. I love just how many crazy looks you gave them. They look pretty accurate.
-
Dan, I don't know where my comments went in here, but I did post this to the front page.
Love it man. You really have a great ORC Army.
-
Thanks everyone!
I am glad you are all enjoying my Orcs. Coming up soon, Trolls and Ogres :)
-
Oh man I love the Orc Army and diorama! The combination of the dio, accessories and these figures is just fantastic! All the work has really paid off Dan. Cool Daleks as well, sorry I don't know much about Dr. Who. There are so many episodes I just don't know where to start! lol
-
They look good on our front page.
-
loving these Dalek's your doing but Wow What an army of orc's you have there outstanding work!!!
-
Love the back stories you create on these. I am so missing Pacific Rim right now. Off to share.
-
Man, that thing is gnarly. Really cool creature.
-
Great looking creature and loving the paint aps!
-
Wow, he is a spooky one.
Nice job!
-
The daleks look great mate but the beast it awesome great paint apps.
Ron
-
The additional details certainly spruce the figures up. Good job with those additions.
-
look good to me.
-
The Daleks look great - this is an ambitious project. "Exterminate!"
-
They look great Dan. I so need to watch some Dr. Who. Off to share.
-
I love these!
If I ever got just one Dalek, I'd never be able to stop.
..... Sound familiar? ... and I don't mean Lay's potatoe chips.
Do you cast these or are they all retail/online purchases?
-
I love these!

Thanks!
These are all purchased figures. The bodies are Asylum Daleks while the right arms are a mix of Assault Daleks and Imperial Guard Daleks.
I currently have 64 Dalek figures but want 100 :)
-
Cool "new" Daleks. The paint job is really excellent.
-
All the droids look awesome. I think i need to grab a 4pack
-
Sweet paint work Dan. Off to share.
-
Very nice. Off to share.
-
Lovin the Dalek a day Dan. Off to share.
-
Looks great Dan. I so need to get into this series. Your paint work is fantastic. Off to share.
-
Wow, great image. Time to go use it.
-
0//Nice work. I like them
-
Looking good Dan. Off to share. You have one large Dalek army. I don't think you have ever seen a Dalek you didn't love!
-
I love your Dalek army.
You're making it hard for me to resist trying to track down and collect this line.
Daleks are like astromechs. You can't have just one.
-
I love your Dalek army.
You're making it hard for me to resist trying to track down and collect this line.
Daleks are like astromechs. You can't have just one.
I agree, but I promised my wife I would stop when I hit 100 ( currently around 65) :)
-
No more after 100? Hmmm...technically can't you call em something else if you customize them? Then, you can't count your customs towards your limit of 100 right?
LOL. All joking aside I was looking at my collection room and thinking, wow I have way too much. It is extremely good to set limits.
-
Looks great Dan. That sounds like you had a fantastic talk. Off to share.
-
Looks great Dan. That sounds like you had a fantastic talk. Off to share.
It was a great conversation. Erik was the designer of the Yoda's Starfighter toy and came up with the deco for the droid's head. We discussed my ideas for the body deco and I made the figure.
The only part I omitted was he felt it should be really dirty as he pictured Yoda riding arond on top of the droid constantly and not really taking care of it's cleanings LOL
-
Very cool custom Giant Leech!
-
Dan this is one of the coolest custom beasts I have seen. You ought to be well pleased with yourself over this one. It is so what I would expect to find in any dark and damp cave or dungeon. Its looks fantastic in your dungeon diorama. Off to share!
-
I really love this giant leech! The colors are marvelous and you were so creative in assembling the different parts seamlessly into this fantastic (and creepy) dungeon dweller.
-
I love that crew. We don't get much in the way of the 3.75" Doctor Who where I'm at, which is too bad. As I was looking at the image, I suddenly got an urge to buy an old Space 99 Eagle spaceship (I had one as a kid) - they all wore orange spacesuits too I think. Great job!
-

Thanks!
Check out www.whona.com for all of your 3.75" Doctor Who needs, that is where I get almost all of mine.
-
Wow these would fit great in any sci-fi verse. Off to share.
-
Wow those spacers look great!
-
Wow, very cool Dan. I like them. Awesome weapons and armor too. And a most excellent backstory.
-
Man that is some wicked looking Gorgons, very nice
-
Having fun with BossFightStudios figures I see. These Gorgons look really great and the backstory is excellent!
-
I like it. I like it a lot. You have really torn this one apart and put it back together and painted it well. Great story too. Off to share in all the right places.
-
Looks great Dan. I am anxious to see what you do with the riders too. Off to share.
-
The Direwarg turned out really well, the paint job is excellent. I love that Chimera, though. How did you build it? it looks fantastic!
-
very cool customs!
-
Your latest Gorgon looks fantastic. I always like reading your backstories too. Off to share.
-
WOW the two headed wolf looks awesome and that Gorgon is amazing.
Ron
-
I think you are having too much fun with the HACKS Gorgons! Looks great. Keep it up.
-
Those Gorgons are fantastic and so are the two beasts, Great Work
-
Kicking butt with the Gorgon customs mate totally awesome.
Ron
-
I haven't known anything about Gorgons, yet. But as a fan of Warhammer (Fantasy, Lord of the Rings and 40k) I think they look great!
Since I am not focused on anything else of Sci-Fi/Fantasy your customs look as bizarre as they look interesting to me! Excellent work on all figures and creatures!
-
Very nice Dan. Off to share!
-
This is gonna look fantastic on the front page. A really awesome custom Dan.
-
Pretty awesome. Looks nice and gruesome on the front pages.
-
Very nice Dan. Great custom and great story, off to share it.
-
Due to the issue with Photobucket and 3rd Party Hosting, I am moving all of my customs to the new Facebook page I created for them (link in first post).
-
I have finally added the last custom figure that needed to be photographed to "The Spectreverse", a Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/Spectreverse/ ) devoted to my custom Universe's galleries!
There are still 11 custom vehicles that need to be photographed but I need to make a larger area to photograph them in, which I will do this weekend.
There are still several write-ups that need to be rewritten as they were lost to forum server changes over the years, but they will be redone in time. The stories are still in my head, I just need to type them all out again.
Please stop by, check out over 20 years worth of creations and please give the page a "Like" if you can.

Strange Spaceport Visitor
Spaceports across the galaxy play host to billions of sentients of all shapes and sizes every day. Multitudes of travelers including humans, near human species, reptilians, aquatic beings, insectoids and those with body plans that are almost inconceivable arrive and depart constantly. You never know what you will see on any given day.
Note: This figure is hollow. It was made from one of the shell-like vinyl cloaks from the "Star Wars" line (came with one of the daughters from the "Lucas Family" 4pk). Usually I work with far more subdued colors but I wanted something bright, cheery and metallic for a change. The tendrils are trimmings from several "G.I.Joe" Zombie-Viper "Compound Z" canister hoses and are each tipped with a drop of glow-in-the-dark green paint. I left the hose trimmings transparent to give the creature a mysterious, amoeba-like quality.

I love it, especially the tentacles great work indeed.

Now that looks better then most of the SW designs I've see. Simple yet conceivable. Great work. Be cool to see more like this.

Neat alien. I saw this on our FB Page and share it today.

Very interesting looking alien.
Excellent work!

Green Orc Chieftain
Excerpt from "The Galactic Almanac Of Developed Species" (Fourth Edition):
Despite the relatively high level of technology that the majority of the Galaxy's citizens enjoy, not every planet in the Galaxy is as advanced as the more civilized worlds in the Core. Throughout our million-system Galaxy, there are scores of worlds that harbor less advanced native sentients. From the Jawas and Tusken Raiders of distant Tattooine to the savage Ewoks of the forest moon of Endor, less advanced "primitive" cultures can be found on many worlds that are best avoided by the sophisticated Galactic traveller.
Case in point: the distant world of Tolkien III, found on the very fringe of the Galaxy near the dangerous region of "Wild Space".
Tolkien III boasts no less than six different primitive sentient species and several different subspecies of same. The various sentient species resemble many of the horrific creatures found in ancient fantasy literature from across the Galaxy earning them the names of said fantastical beings: Orcs, Goblins, Ogres, Trolls, Gorgons and Gaunts.
The Orcs of Tolkien III can be divided into three major species , with each species having several subspecies. The three main species can be simply identified by the dominant color of their flesh: Brown, Green and White.
White Orcs tend to be quite large, 2.5 - 3 meters, and heavily muscled. They appear to be the dominant Orc species despite their relatively small numbers. White Orcs have been observed to be more intelligent than the other two species.
Green Orcs stand just over 2 meters and are split between two major subspecies, divided by their geography. Northern Green Orcs tend to be more heavily muscled while Southern Green Orcs tend to be slimmer, yet still athletically built.
Brown Orcs are most plentiful, but are the smallest standing at just under 2 meters. Brown Orcs tend to be less intelligent than the other two major species, but are brutal fighters and not to be underestimated.
Orcs in general are more technologically advanced than Goblins, having been observed in the use of simple mechanical devices (catapults and enormous artillery crossbows) as well as their use of ranged weapons like bolos and archery equipment.

I like the space alien - really clever to use the hoses for its tentacles. Nice job with the Boss Fight Orc too!
-
Loving the customs, Tolkien III lol nice. I love the lore and backstory for well made customs I can't wait to see more !
-
Nice Orc. Off to share the latest.

Nice customs on the aliens, great additions to a growing universe

Assassins' Guild: The Night Creepers
Night Creeper Assassins
The ancient order of assassins known as the Night Creepers has existed since the dawn of the Old Republic. Silent killers that can blend into the very shadows themselves, the Night Creepers are the best of the best.
Over the millennia, the Night Creepers have adapted, adding high technology to their ancient arts to become even more efficient killers. The modern versions of the Night Creepers wear a void black suit that masks their presence from even the best sensor packages. Their Onmi-Vision goggles allow them to see in any portion of the spectrum that they need to utilize to hunt their prey. Night Creepers employ incredibly efficient and deadly vibroweapons that can cut through even the densest armor.
Night Creepers are fanatically dedicated to their craft. No Night Creeper has ever been taken alive on the rare occasion when they fail to assassinate their target, nor has any body or any of their technology been recovered as their stealth suits completely disintegrate the Night Creeper and their weapons leaving only smoke and ash.

Those look like Maz Kanata's goggles:) I'm curious about the recipe as I really like how the figures turned out. Good backstory too!
-
I could read a whole novel series about these guys. Great work Dan. Off to share.
-
Awesome figures and a very interesting backstory.
Excellent work.
-
Those look like Maz Kanata's goggles:) I'm curious about the recipe as I really like how the figures turned out. Good backstory too!
Thanks!
These are practically no-paint customs as they are mostly factory parts. I just cleaned up some sloppy paint apps on the figure parts and painted almost all of the accessories.
The heads are from the "G.I.Joe: Rise Of Cobra" Flash (laser trooper) figure.
The bodies are "G.I.Joe: Rise Of Cobra" Rex "The Doctor" Lewis
5 of the goggles are from the "Sandstorm" versions of Luke and Han from the BAD line.
The 6th pair of goggles are "G.I.Joe" but I don't recall which figure they came with. I had actually wanted to do all 6 identically but only had 5 pairs of the "sandstorm" goggles LOL
The accessories aside from the tonfas are all "G.I.Joe".
The tonfas are custom resin casts from "Good To Go Customs" but they went out of busness almost a decade ago so finding more of them will be next to impossible.
I am glad you like the backstory as well, it is a mixture of the Night Creepers name from "G.I.Joe", some characteristics of the Hand ninjas from Marvel Comics (the bit about them self destructing, but it is mystic in the comics, not technological like in my story) and the rest I created.
-
Great use of Joe parts. I did think using the "Night Creepers" name was a Joe reference. Good job!
-
I love the look of the Night Creepers mate and loved the back story.
Ron
-
I really enjoy the back stories a lot too.
-
My Orc Chieftain needed a dark mount!
Toy Biz "Lord Of The Rings" Fell Beast. Eventually the reigns will be shortened to better fit the smaller rider (original Ringwraith figure was 6").

Very nice idea! Now it looks correctly in scale. Thanks for sharing! I am also a fan of the LotR 6" figures from ToyBiz...sad they got shut down...

Great use of the Nazgul fell beast.

Reptilian Spaceport Visitor I
Spaceports across the galaxy play host to billions of sentients of all shapes and sizes every day. Multitudes of travelers including humans, near human species, reptilians, aquatic beings, insectoids and those with body plans that are almost inconceivable arrive and depart constantly. You never know what you will see on any given day.
Note:
This was a project to use up some older fodder. I wanted to create an alien that might have appeared in a sci-fi movie or television show between the 70's-90's and created via practical effects (actor in a rubber mask/animatronic head and wearing a costume) instead of a modern CGI creature.
This figure features a fantastic head cast from Krymsynguardimmoral.

These are two very impressive customs especially the head sculpts look stunning! I never thought I'd see the bodies of Rune Haako and Sio Bibble like that! :D

Alien Gambler I
Gamblers can be found in casinos and cantinas all across the Galaxy. They range from friendly wanderers to despicable cheats and cutthroats.
Note:

Wow, that tongue on the space visitor is so gruesome, I love it! Heck I like all three. Your paint work is so good too Dan. Off to share in all the right places.
-
Three really fun customs. The re-purposing of these older bodies is great. I recognize the first two heads from the old, short-lived "Space Precinct" TV show (and toy line), but I don't recognize the last. These characters would fit right into the casino at Canto Bight :)

Thanks! Some older bodies still hold up for background characters. I still have a few older fodder bodies left that I hope to use up eventually.
The Three-Eyed guy's head is indeed "Space Precinct", but the Reptilian, while resembling another "Space Precinct" character is actually from Galoob's short-lived "Star Trek: The Next Generation" line (the "Selay"). The last head is from the "Outer Space Men" line. All 3 heads are casts from Krymmsynguardimmoral.
-
Sullustan Rebel Trooper
Unlike the Galactic Empire's "humans only" policies, the New Republic (formerly known as the "Rebel Alliance To Restore The Republic") allows all sentients to serve in their military and have equal rights regardless of race, creed, or planet of origin. The only requirement to serve is the desire to live free and to defend the freedoms of others.
-
The Sullustan Rebel Trooper was inspired by this continuity Polaroid taken during the production of "Return Of The Jedi":
-
wow
Your custom figures never fail to impress.
You always create very interesting characters.
Excellent work.
-
Looks great to me Dan. Spot on with that Polaroid. Off to share.

That's a great looking custom with a nice background story! Where did you get the weapon/bazooka?
It looks just like in the Battlefront videogame!

Thanks!
The rocket launcher is from one of the new "Fallout" figures I reviewed a few weeks back.

Sweet! Exchange the backpack for a green square rocket pack and you've got the Rebel Sullustan from the Star Wars Battlefronts trailer!

Spaceport Technician (H'nemthe)
All across the galaxy, sentients of all species punch a chronometer to earn their wages.
This female of the H'nemthe species works as a technician in her local spaceport. Her hard work and technical knowhow keeps the spaceport's operations running smoothly.
NOTE: This figure came about when I received a headless TLJ Rose figure as part of a trade. Her height was exactly the same as M'iiyoom Onith, a figure of unusual stature that I happened to have a spare head from in my Heads Box. I replaced the lower portion of the arms with some "G.I.Joe" 25th Anniversary Zartan gloves and added some accessories for a quick, diorama background figure. The only painting I did was to repaint the brown portion of her hood as the Krazy Glue I used to adhere the head discolored the vinyl.
-
Zileena Klovto- Thief:
Zileena Klovto was kicked out of the most prestigious university in the galaxy after she broke into the school's primary mainframe and stole the answers for all of the current semester's final exams. She was caught when one of the students she sold the answers to was accused of cheating on the exam and gave up her name in exchange for not being expelled. Zileena was expelled but escaped criminal charges due to her wealthy father's intervention.
Enamored with the thrill of her crime, Zileena decided to make it her career. Stealing the only prototype of an experimental stealth suit made by her father's company and deleting all data of it's manufacturing process from their computers, she set out across the galaxy stealing not just for the money it makes her, but for the excitement.
Zileena's suit absorbs sensor scans making her almost invisible while breaking in and out of even the highest security facilities. Her natural aptitude with computers allows her to steal data and leave no records of her ever having accessed the systems. In addition to stealing data, Zileena will also take jobs which require her to steal physical items such as valuable artifacts, jewelery or artwork- but that will cost her employers an even heftier fee than what she charges for data theft due to the extra physical requirements of these kinds of thefts.
Zileena is wanted by law enforcement agencies across the galaxy and has even had to begin dodging the bounty hunters sent after her by a powerful crime lord she was hired to steal something from recently...
-
Those look awesome Dan! Man I really like that Spaceport Technician. Such a great use for the Rose Body.
Off to share!
-
These are really great customs. The H'nemthe head on the technician body works very well - I wouldn't have thought of that. The backstory on Zileena is excellent:) I'm curious about the recipe on her (I recognize the Kitty Pryde head, but not the body).
-

Thanks. The body is Catwoman from "The Dark Knight Rises".

Both figures look great.
I always like the backstory of your custom figures.
Excellent work.

Made some custom blaster rifles today.
They still need to be painted.

Wow, some great combinations there. Off to share.

love the Fallout ones!

Wow, these look awesome! My favorite is the one on the bottom right. But they look all so cool! I'm planning on doing custom weapons for quite a while now and hope that I get to it, soon.
Thanks for sharing this nice project!
- Philipp
-
Those are fantastic, My favorite 2 are the BAR with the scope and the M1 mash up. Great styling. I can see tons of great covert operations using those weapons.

Very interesting weapon designs.
Excellent work.

Great work on both the figures and weapons Dan and look forward to seeing more.

Spacers in Vacuum Suits:
Vacuum suits protect the wearers from the harshness of space. Spacers can often be seen wearing their vacuum suits while planetside or on space stations. The reasons for Spacers wearing their vacuum suits while not in the void of space can range from the wearer not being able to breath the same atmospheric mix as the place they are visiting, protection against unfamiliar airborne microorganisms, or simply due to the wearer wanting to conceal their identities...
The reflectiveness of the plastics and paint on the "Fortnite" base figures made photography difficult. At some point, I want to reseal the green/gray one's faceplate with Testors Glosscote. I was unable to do so tonight as my bottle of Glosscote was old and dried out so I need to get a new one.
-
Great use of the "Visitor" bodies! Fabulous paint job.
-
Dan those look great. You always do such great paint work too. Off to share.
-
Great work mate.

Diorama elements made from found items: cargo crates.
I made these cargo crates out of Fanta orange soda caps. I sanded down the undersides to remove the small protrusions where the cap attached to the breakaway ring that holds them securely to the 20 oz. bottlenecks and then glued 2 of them together base to base. Eventually they will get painted but this gives you an idea of what they look like.
Projects like this are cheap ways to make custom sci-fi diorama elements from junk items you have or encounter every day.
-
I totally agree Dan, finding use for "junk" is helpful on the budget. Plus, it can work really well. I like those bottle cap cannisters, what a great idea.
-
These are great! Off to share on the front pages.
-
What a great idea, nice one mate!
-
Just made some Orc wavy swords.
Boss Fight handles, Brickwarriors blades.
-
Human Spacers (no paint customs)
Spacers of all species traverse the dark void plying their trades, often stopping at spaceport cantinas for a little refreshment and company before heading back out into the black again.
-
Very nice on both Dan, off to the front pages.
-
Those swords are really clever. Kudos! I like the spacers in twin clothes, too.
-
Imzig Male Spacer (spare parts custom)
Spacers of all species traverse the dark void plying their trades, often stopping at spaceport cantinas for a little refreshment and company before heading back out into the black again.

Hey those recent customs look awesome! Nice use of parts and smart head-swaps there!
Thanks for sharing, Dan!

I like the Imzig - good job with parts on this figure.

Retro Styled Spaceport Visitors

Multitudes of travelers including humans, near human species, reptilians, aquatic beings, insectoids and those with body plans that are almost inconceivable arrive and depart constantly. You never know what you will see on any given day.
Note: This was an exeriment in using some of my wife's holographic nail polish to paint the figures' robes.
I wanted them to look like something out of old low budget sci-fi movies and television shows which often used "sparkly" material such as lame` for futuristic or alien costumes.
-
Well that experiment turned out really well! Those aliens totally look like 1950's aliens.
-
I agree. that is one successful experiment. Off to the front pages.
-
Haha wow these are really great. Kinda look like they stepped outta MIB III
Curious how you applied the polish to the figures since I've been experimenting with it on some BS 6" figures.
-
Haha wow these are really great. Kinda look like they stepped outta MIB III
Curious how you applied the polish to the figures since I've been experimenting with it on some BS 6" figures.
Thanks, I was shooting for something like you would have seen in the old "Buck Rogers" or "Doctor Who" era of low budget sci-fi.
I just used the brush that was in the nail polish bottle to apply the polish to the figures. I didn't want to ruin any of my good brushes, especially if the experiment didn't work.
-
Like everyone else said, those space visitors are awesome. I think they look like something for the old school Tom Baker Dr. Who episodes. The holographic nail polish worked like a charm.
-
I agree! They look awesome! The figures themselves remind me just a little of those statues that came with cereals back in the days. And the holographic effect turned out excellently! Strongly reminds me of all the shiny Pokémon cards I traded with friends on the school yard. Thanks for bringing back those good memories, Dan!
Now, I'm afraid you own your wife a bottle of nail polish. And I need a good reason to justify why I buy one of those bottles in the drug store next time! lol
Thanks for sharing. Definitely made my day!
-
Crazy idea trying the nail polish, but what a cool result!
Did you put the nail polish directly on the plastic of the figure, or did you lay down a clear-coat or something first? The polish dried correctly?
-

I Dullcoted the figures first, then applied the nail polish.

Swoop Rider Mercenary (Human)
Mercenaries can be hired in just about any seedy spaceport in the galaxy. Whatever your needs, from basic vibroblade wielding brutes to professionally trained ex-soldiers, if you have cold hard credits, you can hire as many mercenaries as you need (or can afford) to do the desired jobs.
This was a simple exercise to try and remove some of the cartoonier aspects of the "Fortnite" figures to make them better fit into the "Spectreverse". The "Fortnite" figures' larger, chunkier designs make finding appropriately scaled replacement parts difficult.

Excellent work

Great work mate and as you have shown the Fortnite Figures have so much potential for customizing.

I would love to do more, but those BFS blind bags make getting the ones you want very difficult and I was lucky to get 1 Alien set.
-
Great update on the figures mate but I have to say that vampire figure is just amazing.
Ron
Thanks! He was a blast to paint.
-
Nice! Is that a Boss Fight blind bag head? It looks great.
Thanks! The heads and hands for both figures are indeed BFS blind bags.
Yeah. I had to work pretty hard to get the second round and still missed out on the Vampire set. Now they're listed as "sold out." So I may be out of luck on that particular one. We'll see if they get more back in.
-
Wow, I like em both. They would both look great in any Space Dio. Off to the front pages.
-
Like everyone has already said, the Vampire/Bat is great. Really nice job on the paint and I really dig the overall look and color choices for his outfit. Pulled off a classic monster that still seems to have the Star Wars vibe.
-
Made a few new custom weapons including a Mandalorian-style disintigrator rifle and a wizard's staff with a GITD jewel atop it :)
-
Those turned out excellent!
-
Those look great Dan. I really like that rifle.
Off to share on the front pages.
-
Those are some neat accessories there. Really like the detail added to Mando's rifle and gems are always nice to look at - even on staffs. Good job, Dan.
-
Hobbits WIP
Made from the "Star Wars" "Mission Fleet" scale Kuiil and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Bala-tik heads.
They will eventually get some further modifications and accessories to individualize them, but I am happy with how they look so far.
They scale nicely with a standard 4" figure (represented here by a "Fortnite" figure).
-
Dan these are great. They look like a perfect size.
Off to the front pages.

Those hobbits are really great! What a good design idea.

After watching the entirety of "Star Wars: Droids" today on Disney+, I was struck by some of the cool, original designs used in the cartoon.
I used some spare Build-A-Droid parts and quickly whipped up these work-in-progress droids (still need painting) based on 2 of the more memorable astromech designs from the 2 part special "The Great Heep".
The spherical astromech with the single leg and antennae is the only one I was able to find a nice clear image of online.
Both droids have swiveling upper domes. The 2 legged droid has additional articulation at the ankles.
I will most likely not be following the colorways used in the cartoon and instead utilizing much more movie styled colors and weathering to make them fit in with the more realistic movie figures.
-
These look great Dan! Very nice. I need to go back and watch that series again. Man it has been a few years.
Off to the front pages.

You can pause streaming video and use the snipping tool to cut and save pictures off the show if you are on a computer. I'm going to have to take some time and watch those. I didn't realize they'd uploaded them as part of the vintage collection! I saw that they'd uploaded the ewoks cartoon and movies.

I watched them on my smart tv, but will have to try that on my laptop eventually, thanks :)

Just watched "Great Heep" today. Love the droids that you did, they look great! Adds a little variety to the line up.
-
When you hit your shoulder on the bookcase in the dark and the figures fall like dominoes...:(
-
Oh no! I hope no customs were hurt in the making of this picture.
-
As you all know, I am an action figure customizer.
I am from the "old school" and do kitbashing like the ILM guys did in the era before digital effects. So I am always looking for interesting "found items" (i.e. non-toy/model kit parts, often everyday household items) to use in my projects.
One of my favorite, more recent discoveries is this blue cap in the photos. It is the cap from the large sized Walmart brand Ibuprofen. As you may also know, I suffer from severe arthritis so I go through a lot of Ibuprofen. Walmart started using this design about 2 years ago and I have never shared this before for some reason so I am doing it now.
This cap will make for excellent diorama use, as either part of a larger tech device or as surface detailing on its own. It only comes in the one size as of right now. The smaller bottles use plain ridged caps like you would find on brand name bottles. It takes super glue and paint as well as most plastics do so it is ideal for model builders' needs.
-
That's a great tip, Spectre, thanks for the lead. I didn't realize you had severe arthritis, sorry to hear that, I have a friend with the same issue and it sucks. That's got to make customizing a challenge.
-
Time to get this on the front page. I have one of those bottles almost finished. My wife and I both threw our backs out this week. Getting old bites I tell you!
Off to the front pages by the way.

I am lucky in that the arthritis is entirely in my lower body (lower back, left hip, both knees, right foot) from a car accident 14 years ago. My wrists and hands are perfectly fine :)
The arthritis in my lower back makes sitting, especially hunched forward like when painting, difficult though. I have to let up and stretch a bit every half hour or so.

Doing some very minor customization/modifications on the newer "Halo" toys while I watch tv and relax.
The new Grunt Mule figures suffer from a rather poor design in that they are supposed to carry 3 additional weapons on their backs, but with all of the Halo accessories having posts on their lateral sides, you can only really fit 1 weapon on the figure. By removing and relocating the posts to the dorsal sides of the weapons, I can now fully stock each Grunt Mule with a full compliment of armament.
I do, however, require several additional Covenant weapons to fully kit out all 6 of my Grunt Mules.
-
That's a great idea! A Mule should be able to carry a lot of gear, that was a design oversight. Six Mules is a lot!
-
Great thinking Dan. Off to share that on the front pages.
Man, I could so use a new HALO novel.
-
Did some minor accessory modifications to the "Halo" gravity hammers. I added pegs to the handles (donated from the SPNKRs from the Armory Set) so my Brute Soldiers can carry them on their backs as secondary weapons similar to how they would be carried in game. Only 3 of my 4 Brute Soldiers are so armed as the 4th gravity hammer went to one of my named Brutes as he could not hold his included Ravager rifle due to his forearm armor getting in the way.
-
What a great idea! It looks cool, too:) BTW - How do I join the CSOTC Society? I'm totally in for that (given that I don't believe I have customized one single clone ever!).
-

By virtue of never having customized one, you are hereby inducted into our order!

Man that is slick Dan. I wish AF companies would think of things like this.
Off to share on the front pages.

Thank you kind sir! ;D

Thanks to some recent trades, I have filled almost all of the backpack slots for my Covenant Grunt Mules!
I still need 4 more weapons, which will be coming as part of a trade sometime next week, to complete this project!
-
Wow...that was a bit of work! It'll be good to get that taken care of.
-
Looks like everyone is geared up. Those Grunts can carry a load!
-
My final Grunt Mules have been fully kitted out!
-
That was an adventure! Those grunts carry a lot of gear. Kind of makes their name fit. Here's to patience:)
-
Upgraded McFarlane Toys "Halo" Covenant Needle Rifle.
I replaced the painted opaque needles with transparent ones from one of the modern Jazwares/Wicked Cool Toys Covenant Needlers.
The modern needles are much more game accurate than the smooth, conical ones on the original piece.
-
Now that is great attention to detail. Off to share on the front pages.
-
That turned out pretty cool. Tamer is right, great attention to details.
-
"Halo" Covenant weapons racks.
I modified the weapons in the same manner as the ones I used for my Grunt Mules by removing the posts and relocating them along the dorsal line to better fit into the racks (the smaller pistols on the bottom had posts added to them as they did not have them like the rifles do). In the game, the weapons are stored laterally but the racks in the game are wider than the toys so the weapons do not fit properly when placed in laterally.
I still need 2 smaller weapons (either Manglers, Plasma Pistols, Disruptors or Pulse Rifles) to fill the empty spaces in the lower center racks but do not have any more spare Covenant weapons at the moment.
-
That's pretty cool. I may have a couple smaller guns laying around. I'll check tomorrow and see. If I do, I'd be happy to send 'em your way.
-
That looks awesome Dan.
Off to share this one the front page.
I need something like this for some of my own firearms.
-

Thanks!
That would be much appreciated :)
-
I shot you a pm a couple of days ago (I think). I found two Manglers in my "pile" of weapon fodder. I'm happy to send them your way.
-
Pretty neat to see stuff other than Star Wars posted. Great work on the needle rifle. Any plans for Halo Infinite customs?
-

I am not sure that the message system is working properly. I responded to you on the 7th or so but I don't know if you saw it.
-
So sorry, I saw them, though a couple days later. They're packaged and ready to go (except postage), but I haven't been able to get to post office during their open times here (They're closed on weekends). I will get them in the mail tomorrow.

No rush at all, just wasn't sure if the message went through as there seems to be some kind of delay going on.
Thanks again :)

I took advantage of the awesome sale that Boss Fight Studio had recently for their Orc Conqueror bundle!
I finally got to open them up this afternoon. I outfitted a few of them with custom accessories: a custom helmet I made a few years back and some real metal weapons (with functional blades!) made for me by Car AR!
-
Very nice. You gotta have some Orcs in any fantasy type setting.
-
Those are cool! They turned out really well. Be careful with those blades, though.
-
I just installed glass eyes in all 24 of my "Final Faction" Decimators.
I used 3 different, yet similar, colors as I did not have 24 of any 1 color.
I still have 6 more of the eyes on the left and may grab 6 more Decimators at Dollar Tree to use the last of those eyes.
Now I just have to decide on a colorscheme to paint them.
-
Those look great! And creepy.
-

Thanks!
-
My 6 new Decimators have received their glass eyes!
This brings my Decimator swarm to 30!
-
Such an improvement. I can't wait to see what color you go with for these. Or maybe multiple colors as a sort of hierarchy? Anyhow, off to share on the front pages.
-
Some 5 minute modifications while i watch tv:
I cut and rotated one of the downward facing tusks on these "Masters Of The Universe: Masterverse" Pig-Head figures to face upwards (there is a barely visable seam that needs to be puttied and then the tusk will get repainted) so both of them can look a bit different and not like clones. I have 2 more of these guys coming in the mail and will also make small modifications to differentiate them all.
The pink accents need to go, but otherwise they are great figures. The pink will be repainted copper or bronze, which should look good against the metallic blue armor. The pink straps on the shield will be painted to match the strap on his torso and the pink fur on the boots will be brown or grey.
In the second image, I combined parts from the left weapons to make the ones on the right. The weapons need to be repainted before they can be displayed.
-

I still haven't decided on a color scheme for the Decimators yet, I might just go for a more detailed version of their 2 tone purple, but I am also contemplating some designs based on real world insects.
-
Nice job twisting the tusk, I'll be interested to see what other "individuality" you can give them. I like what you've done with the weapons.
-
The mace and the axe look good too.
Off to the front pages.
-
Starfleet style warp cores or TARDIS time rotors?
With and without flash.
There is photoreactive film in the clear tubes.
-
Very cool.
-
I forget where I saw it, but recently, someone took an old style, anatomically incorrect Stegosaurus like this Playskool "Definitely Dinosaurs" figure and removed the backplates to make a weird, bulbous sci-fi creature and I loved the look.
I just removed the backplates from this and it looks great! The holes where the backplates were plugged into the body (as well as the zig-zag seam where the top of the body halves meet) need to be filled with contour putty and sculpted to resemble the rest of the hide. I am contemplating removing the tail spikes, but haven't decided if I am going to just yet, so for now they are staying.
I haven't figured out exactly what this will be as of yet- domesticated beast of burden (which would require straps/saddle/harness/etc.) or some wild beast, but when I decide, any additional modifications will be made. This as of right now is just a proof of concept.
-
Wow Spectre, this is great! If you decide on a domesticated animal and it needs a saddle I've built a couple of saddles out of simple Hobby Lobby craft foam sheets. I get a couple of colors in the browns and blacks and start cutting to fit. You can use a heat gun to shape the foam and a balled up piece of foil with the heat to give the foam a leathery texture. Works great. Takes paint too. I would leave the tail spikes and change the head. Good ideas here.
-
Yeah...that could be really interesting. A longer tail might be good. Nice hints on the saddle composition DarthSinister.
