Hey Yarders,
I've seen tons of your awesome vehicles and figures and have been incredibly impressed. As a fellow collector and some time customizer I've found it's incredibly hard to decide what I like best. So much to choose from! I remembered one of my favorite ships--the "Ugly" starfighter--the Z'ceptor. A combo mashup of a z-95 headhunter and a tie interceptor.
So why am I mentioning this? Well I'm looking for an able customizer (clearly my skills are not up to the task, but that's ok!) who is willing to undertake this creation. I have tons of old Star Wars vehicles I can send you to use in the creation. I have a nearly complete POTF2 X-Wing even that can be used. I can trade for the custom--lots of other vehicles and figures i have no use for perfect for custom makers! or cash! Also have comic books, and other non-star wars items to trade too!
Here's my favorite reference image for the Z'ceptor: http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/2/2a/ZCeptor.JPG
Requested specs: The Z-95 cockpit should open and fit a figure, and the Tie Fighter cockpit with canopy guns should open and fit a figure. The Interceptor wings should rotate and landing gear be usable when the wings are folded horizontal. The canopy guns should rotate and the R2 Unit head should rotate.
I understand this may be a very involved task and that many of you don't do customs. Not to worry this will be a totally professional trade/purchase. I have a paypal account, am an upstanding member of the action figure community, and I run the blog Action Figure Empire: http://actionfigureempire.blogspot.com/ where I'd love to feature your completed work(s)!
If there is enough interest in this task I suppose you guys can bid for this? But really a few Z'ceptors wouldn't hurt either, as long as I can afford them ;)
Thanks guys! I hope we can make this happen!

if it was as simple as putting interceptor wings on an x-wing body like I was picturing... that'd be great... but that image you linked to has ALOT of stuff going on.
It would definately be an interesting project.... but to get it to the state that your wanting is going to take a huge undertaking of both kit-bashing and scratch building. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it'd be a huge undertaking.
Given unlimited resources, time and parts I bet I could pull it off.... but I don't have any of those! I'd be willing to offer my ideas and advice though to anyone who does undertake the challenge...
I'd start by suggesting you gather up at the very LEAST a POTF x-wing for the main fuselage and cockpit, an old tie interceptor for the mid-section and then at least 2 sets of interceptor wings to kit-bash into the wings (and have extra just in case), and also a y-wing's Ion cannon.... and other various greeblies....

I might put this in the SW Wanted Thread to get this more noticed.
I know one thing, new forum member, The Spectre seems to have made some neat combination using a mix mash of Rebel and Imperial Parts. I am not sure if he is interest in comissions though.
I know there are some Shipyarders here that can do it!
-
Heh - I agree Spectre's works indicate he'd be one that could pull this off!
Spud, what about using the wing-lifting mechanics from an Imperial Shuttle to give the Interceptor panels movability? Would that work?
That is one crazy rig!
-
Great vehicle choice, and I too have always wanted to make this one since the day I saw it. I too would suggest Spectre as he has the most amazing vehicle mash ups. If I ever make this it will not have movable wings but I hope to get close on everything else. Good luck and I hope he takes commissions.
-
Depsite my attempts to persuade him, Spectre declined due to the fact that in the past people conned/cheated him out of his hard work and time. I hate that. I have heard that from many skilled custom makers--especially in the 501st. Guys who do honest hard work and turn out amazing projects who get taken advantage of and then decide to swear off ever making anything for anyone. Tis a major sadness. Thus my posting it here.
I have the old X-wing ready to send to the Yarder who undertakes this task. I also have a bunch of other ships, podracers, vehicles, and more that the lucky customizer will get to use on this project and/or keep for their next projects. I also have some figures for the same purposes they are welcome to.
I know this is a huge undertaking, but think of it as a chance to make AFE one of their favorite ships and get your work seen by over 200 visitors a day :)
-
Man, that's terrible. Can understand his position, tho.
If I thought for a moment that I had the skills to pull it off, I'd jump on it. But I'm *FAR* from being the one you'd want to take this on.
-
Oh man Doc you have no idea. I was soooo excited when i saw Spectre's "Ugly" customs. I thought, "At last! I am not the only one who discovered these awesome 'mash-up' ships and thought about creating!" And was crushed to learn that despite being flattered he wouldn't undertake the task. You're right there too Doc, if I had even half the skills Spectre had i might consider undertaking the task myself but alas, I just can't right now. And that works out better for me! I'd much rather feature one (or some) of you guys' work on this! That's much more interesting to me. I think I'm boring haha.
I think Spry might be interested in undertaking this task and he's definitely proven he's got more than enough skills! So perhaps we can turn this into a bit of a competition?
Could go something like this:
AFE would accept any submissions from customizers who want to submit their creations of the Z'ceptor. Keep in mind your work will be kept by AFE, but it will be featured on our front page with a full photo-heavy review and lots of info about the creator and the rig. One lucky winner will get a treasure trove of goodies perfect for customizing!
For the Grand Prize AFE can offer one lucky winner all of the following (in addition to the POTF2 X-Wing we're supplying for you to cannibalize for the Z'Sceptor:
Keep in mind these items are loose and in varying conditions (perfect for customs)
Grand Prize:
1 POTF2 T-16 Skyhopper missing the base
1 POTF2 Airspeeder missing tips to front canons
1 Sebulba's Podracer (with Sebulba Figure) missing a few pieces

a working comtech chip reader and over 8 working comtech chips!
(All 3/4" scale)
and more!
So what do you guys think? Good idea? Would you want to enter a submission? Good prizes?
-
Grand Prize offering! Lots of potential for customs!!!
-
I'll try ;D
but we'll see if i succeed
and see if I can find the parts ;)
-
Gah! Yer killin me! If i could do vehicles, I'd be in regardless.
The builder's gotta have an Interceptor for the wings, tho... just something to consider.
-
Excellent! Glad you're going to enter hanns!
-
Sorry Doc :( But on the bright side you can always enter and give it a shot you never know ;)
As far as the interceptor goes you might only need one wing. Cut in half and used for both sides. Might be able to use a snap-together model kit for the wings. So not too bad. Plus you get the X-wing to use in the customizing process if you desire it. First come first serve.
So I guess I'm going ahead with the contest?

you need to check in with Tamer/Phatty or Recon Sgt as all contests need to be run by them mate .

Lol it's just an idea at this point. Haven't decided yet

ok no problemo
-
Ok so no contest. Spry has decided to undertake the task of creating the Z'sceptor. This doesn't mean others can't also do some too though. My POTF2 X-Wing will be going to him and in return he has requested some of the ships I mentioned in the picture. Awesome! So excited to get started on this! Just don't know where I'm going to get a tie interceptor wing...
-
Ok so Spry and I are looking for a hasbro or even kenner (if they made one) tie interceptor complete with all its parts. I think I might have an R2 unit head somewhere to use for this... I have the old X-Wing and the two canons but we also need the turret for the top of the Eye-ball. Anyone want to help us out?
-
I got the R2 head covered - custom-molded from a BaD R2. Master Sprywalker is already accumulating a box of goodies that will be heading his way, so the dome will slip in nicely.
-
Oh awesome! Thanks so much Doc! So an R2 dome? Excellent! I was just gonna go dig through my boxes for one. What else are you sending? I'll be sure to give you a mention in the article(s) about it :)

Hey guys! A friend brought an awesome character to my attention the other day. Xasha a bounty hunter who worked with Boba Fett and wore a combo of Mando and clone armor. Wondering if anyone has done a custom of her? I'd be interested in commissioning a custom of her as with the end of the comic pack series I fear we may never see her in figure form. Anyone interested in this project?
Check out Xasha here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Xasha

the chest would have to be the super expensive Mirta Gev figure.
