WOW! I am so blown away. Jules, you are a very talented guy. I had to pause so many times just to let all the graphic goodness sink in. The colors you are using in the environments are just beautiful. You really have an eye for placement, camera angles, etc... Way to go, man!!!

Jules, your incredibly hard work and long nights have definitely paid off, as this was absolutely amazing. The digital renderings, the smooth transitions and movements, definitely high quality. Words are not enough for this great piece of work. If it's not already on the front page, it's going there now!

Guys, that is absolutely the last movie I'm going to make until I retire so I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for your comments, and especially thanks to all of you who routinely follow the X-Wing saga. It's a huge indulgence on my part, and I'm glad I can share it with someone!
It was great fun to create, but at 10 days = 60 seconds it is far too time consuming to practically do again. You'll be seeing trailers for Photonovels for sure...

Jules you should be doing all the lucasarts video scenes. It was just brilliant.

Jules, that was awesome, very cool to see the "live action" of the video and the imagery was great as always. I do however, miss the photonovel. While I liked the video I feel I missed a lot of the artistry trying to read the text (I have the same problem with subtitled movies). While I appreciate the work and effort you put into this video, and I did enjoy it, I prefer the photonovel myself.

Spooky, your honesty is very much appreciated. I must admit that after completing this I too prefer the Artistic version, the movies are an uphill struggle from the offset. However, what I love about the movies is the music and how it can convey atmosphere. The Star Wars soundtrack can really bring my vision to life, and it is putting the music to the imagery that gives me the most enjoyment...
There are some fans of the story that really love these movies, so I guess I can't please everyone...Saying that, expect the rest of the X-Wing story to be in comic book format from here on in...

Jules, dont get me wrong, I really liked the movie, really I did, I just prefer your original photonovel, please dont think I am putting this down in any way because I'm not, I like both, I just like the photonovel more. You're right tho, the music really did add to it, have you thought of a video slide show with music?

I think both have their merits to be honest. Still, seeing those Headhunters fight that Tie Gunship I don't think could be conveyed as great static in a regular web-comic format as you did with the video. I also, from what little fiddling I have done know that mere seconds for those shots literally mean days of editing.
Anyway, I am daggone glad to hear this is continueing. You just have to promise to keep these going when Lucasfilm or Lucasarts grabs you up Jules.

Shawn, I always appreciate your kind words, but I am only a mere amateur compared to some of the supremely talented artists, illustrators and CGI people who work in the industry. The Clone Wars cartoon has to be one of the most beautifully rendered TV shows ever created, each image is like a work of art, so we are currently very lucky to have that on our screens.
My only wish would be to see things move away from the prequals and into the later events in the Star Wars Galaxy, call me old fashioned, but the simple themes of friendship in times of adversity is what it's all about, and so I am trying to redress the balance with my work.

This is absolutely stunning, no kidding about it.
You have nailed all the elements from the OT that made us fall in love with this saga to begin with: interesting main characters, intriguing storylines that we know will take us somewhere great (but we just don't know where that is just yet), the focus on the great technology in ships, droids, etc., mysterious background (?) characters in Zen Mantori and the Sullustan, and, of course, great sound editing to boot!
This is what a TV show focusing on the OT/Dark Times should be like! I sooooo hope that someone from Lucasfilm would be smart enough to use some of your ideas if they saw this...and you could paid for it to boot!
Awesome work, my friend! Congrats on a great finished product! Can't wait to see more!

Jules my friend! All of your hard work has paid off well! I am late commenting so I just have to echo what everyone has said and JediMerc naild my thoughts with the great imagery and the OT feel us older guys fell in love with. The music is great, fits well and conveys the mood along with the dark tones. Thanks so much for doing this and sharing with us. Time to go watch it again to take it all in.

I finally got to watch, and all I can say is amazing, that was an incredible venture and your estimate of 10 hours per 60 seconds seems lite with the level of detail you have brought to this. Bravo to the Nth degree.
PS I hope you don't mind but I pointed this out on a few GI Joe Boards I know you do not frequent, but this deserves a look by everyone IMO.

I loved it! I love your photonovels anyway, but this was something extra special... I kept waiting for words, and had to pause it a couple of times to read, lol.. but even still, I couldnt imagine how long it took you to do something like that. My only critique if you don't mind is the parts where they were walking. I'd say maybe zoom in on the person, so you don't see them "sliding" across the floor/down the ramp, or something like that. Everything else was aweosme but that kinda took me away from it for a couple seconds. Hopefully one of these years we'll see another chapter in this format, if not, I'll still continue to read the others.. thanks for this, and good job!

WOW! such a great response, thanks everyone for all of your comments they are all very much appreciated. I often get more comments for customs that take a weekend to create, so all through this I was aware that there may only be a handful of comments, and so I was not expecting so many replies in such a short time.
I have to admit to feeling rather selfish on this project as I really do feel this is for me. Photo Novels have a taken a nose dive in terms of popularity over the last couple of years however, I have a craving to see a return to the original saga, be it in a space sim or TV show, and this story really struck a nerve with me. Saying that, perhaps it's best leaving the Original Saga alone, as it may be far better leaving it to our own imaginations than to tarnish such a perfect story.
Anyhow, I'm really pleased with the results and hope that you guys stay with me on this journey into the Star Wars Universe that I love...

Wow!!! When I saw this released last night, I couldn't tell you how excited I was. I was so envious as Elias started watching it as I was making dinner. As soon as dinner was over I got my turn and it was just as enjoyable as your Dark Child series. I just love these movies that you make. It's really cool when an artist moves the goal posts and creates a new level of accomplishment for everyone to strive for. We really have our work cut out for us. As sad as I am to see the movie completed, especially knowing this is your last, I'm really happy that we'll be seeing more of you back in the forums. You've been missed. Looking forward to seeing you around more.
And again, awesome job, Jules!! You'll be remembered in the customizing community for your contributions for a long time to come.

jule s as i said on the phone Chewie may have had a long running photonovel ,but you my friend will always be remembered as the guy who took the photonovel genre and turned it on its head and challenged the limitations of the traditional photonovel genre .thanks to you Photonovels will never be looked at in the same way again ....
