Recipe:
Clone Trooper:
Upper Torso and lower legs: Airborne Clone Trooper
Upper Legs and Waist: Random Gi Joe
Head: 25th Serpentor
Helmet: Airborne Trooper
Soft Goods Skirt and custom belt with holsters cut from Clone Skirt.
Reek:
For the reek I took the Hasbro Reek and re-sculpted the face a bit and added another horn to the head. I gave it a dark paint scheme with red highlights, I tried to make it look like a "Bull" Reek.
For the Sadle I used vinyl and wire and added on that various pouches and accessories to fully load it up.
Custom base is a scenic mountain top that was snow covered for Christmas Villages I think... ???? It was fully repainted to give that Geonisis Red Clay dirt feel.
Let me know what you think!

Uh, this one is making me speechless.
Let me try to rehinge my jaw and say welcome to the Yards and this one is on its way to the front page soon.

absolutely fantastic. i love it. the modifications to the reek are top notch. That saddle just takes the cake!
but... I'm interested in your techniques for adding the joe hips to the figure. I can't tell how you've exactly done it since the kama and the arms of the figure are covering up that area in most of the figure....
I'm kind of a fan of "joe-ticulating" star wars figures and I'd love to see better how you are doing it.
I'm also intrigued by the knee joints. How did you attach the peg of the star wars figure's knee into the joe thigh?
... oh... and welcome to the yards! great start, I can't wait to see more!

Thanks everyone for your Welcomes, Comments and THE FRONT PAGE!!!! O0

The torso and arms are from a Star Wars Airborne figure. The upper legs and waist are from a Gi joe, and the lower legs are from the same airborne.
The Process:
First, I took the belt off the airborne trooper and cut him in half (right around where the belt lay. I then took a random GI JOE and cut him right about where his belt was. I then sanded down these two cuts and attached them together when a good fit was made, the joint is covered up with the new Belt. Second, to connect the upper legs to the lower legs I started by Dremeling out the bottoms of the upper legs of the GI JOE Thighs. I then moved to the clone's legs. I cut through the thighs of the clone to get just enough rubber, so the peg holding the lower legs in could still do its job, I cut that rubber down until it was able to fit directly into the cavity I made in the GI JOEs Upper legs. I then sculpted the Upper legs to tie it into the armor.
I hope that helps...Next time I think I should just take pictures... ;D

That is so awesome that Alderaan exploded in my head twenty times. That reek is so awesome I really wish I had it. And you just joined! Welcome.

DH AWSOME !!!

OMG. That is so awesome. Cannot wait to see more!

PackRat that is f$%*ing cool my friend, welcome to the yards. First I love the mods you did to the reek I'm a big fan of this creature and yours looks really amazing as the original toy is pretty crap tastic. I also got to give you a hand on your base man that is a cool way to display that large custom makes it look less like a toy and more of a maquette. I want to know what kind of material you use to sculpt your additions like the extra horns and that saddle? Again great work.
-
Always been a fan PRS, glad to see you on the Yards! I have to say, your Kung Fu is mighty strong my friend, that Airborne Reek rider combo delivers 20 kinds of butt kicking awesomeness--if not more :)
-
Wow that is just awesome.
-
A tremendous custom and an excellent diorama as well. You have combined two fantastic subjects that work wonderfully together.
A warm welcome to the Yards!
-
Simply..WOW!!! :o Absolute perfection.

Amazing work my friend! I can't wait to see more. Now I need to find a reek.

Mate I have to say this is mind blowing work to say the least and everything about it screams perfection.

Thanks everyone for all your comments, I am glad you like em!

Saw this on your blog post yesterday and then that your stuff is showing up all over the place! I love the work you did putting the Reek rider together. I'm looking into taking Joe figs apart to incorporate them with SW parts, so I always enjoy checking your stuff out.
Nice work!

This is just one sweet project altogether and I love the dio but, like spuda, that saddle is just a masterpiece.
Welcome to the shipyards!

Makes perfect sense to me (although to those not familiar with the intricacies of the joe parts and what-not it might not make sense).
But if I'm to understand you correctly then the figure doesn't have any movement within the torso? you glued the two torsos together to make one solid piece from the neck down to the hips correct? I've done this as well with a figure in the past, but didn't like the results... you wind up losing a point of articulation to gain the ball jointed hips. It works, but just not well enough IMHO....
of course... looking at your figure you've pulled it off amazingly. Sculpting the joe thighs up to match REALY makes a difference. had you not done that the knee joint would have looked very off. This is one reason why I try to retain the joe's double jointed knee.
I'm putting together a video tutorial on the way I add joe parts to my star wars figures, starting with a tutorial for the galactic marine I posted in my thread this week, when I get the full video tutorial completed and uploaded I'd love to get your thoughts on the process I use.

All these comments and only one custom? This guy is GOOD. Hope you give us some more work soon!

Yup! If I used a super articulated clone instead of a airborne I could have had that extra point of articulation, because of the ball socket-ed Rib cage area...the airborne just doesn't have that.

Its never the quantity, but all about the quality.
I can't even imagine all the intricacies of this figure, beasty, and diorama. Each is done to a grand level.

wow... this is mind-blowing!! top-notch work on all aspects. hope to see more work soon,
and of course a warm welcome to the yards :)

the airborne's torso is about the same as all the other clones... knowing me I'd probably have taken a torso from an articulated clone with the ball jointed torso and then modified a joe torso to fit that joint, saving all the cutting and splicing and glueing. But then you kill 3 figures instead of just 2! lol
still, amazing work. The joining of the two torsos blends in perfectly. And as long as your using it as a static display (which I'm assuming is the case as with most customizers, we build and then we display, we don't play with them....) especially since you have such an amazing looking diorama to display it on, then the loss of the articulation doesn't even matter.

I wish the bull reek had more articulation itself, like in the knees, and i hope by the time AOTC hits the theatres in 2013,they'll have a really nice one out, probably just a repack like their doing with TPM stuff.as far as yours goes,it doesn't need any articulation as long as its just standing their, but it just adds to some poseability purpose's for me.spud is the man when it comes to the SW/joe swapping parts.they may be a few cm taller then a regular SW figure, but they look amazing, and have great possibility's for some great poses.

yeah, I like mixing SW and Joes...its tough sometimes, it can add a little height, but in the end I usually just use them for their waiste area, so I try and keep the height change at a minimum.. This clone is the same height of a VC Clone, so its a success IMO.
Thanks everyone!

well,I myself have yet to venture into that area of customizing,I've see tutorials on the process, and i'm likely to lose a digit or two they way it's done.I do need to look at the process a little closer though, and see if I can't get it done right, plus, still not clear on the knee swapping part yet.your custom is still very awesome, but spud had a point with losing that POA in the torso for the hips articulation, but if he's just riding the bull, then he doesn't need it.

Hello and welcome to the Yards! Sorry I am late to the party but your work is outstanding! I have seen you before on Facebook so I am a fan of your work for sure. Can't wait to see more of your art on display here!
