Hi Volks,
here are some pics of my latest Hasbro mod - the "RED2: X-WING FIGHTER"
What I have done:
- new painjob / weathering
- more cockpit details incl. fiberoptic ilumination
- engine lights added
- added a power switch for the light into the cockpit (right side panel)
- added 3 "real" rear windows
Here's also the link to the YouTube HD video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=V14NHpJyO-c (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V14NHpJyO-c)
You can find many more pic on my website: maxx-replicas.jimdo.com (http://maxx-replicas.jimdo.com)

This is amazing! You should do some tutorials on lighting and weathering vehicles!
-
My word! that is just superb! It can easily be mistaken for a studio model or replica it is absolutely spot on accurate. Please can we see more of the cockpit detailing? and a close up on some of the weathering, in fact more images of all of it! I am so intrigued on how you have managed to pull this one off.

That is a thing of beauty! I love the rear window modifications, why Hasbro didn't make the vehicle in that way is beyond me.
An absolutely perfect job!

Thanks a lot Jules :)

Excuse my ignorance but what tool did you use to cut out the windows so cleanly?
-
thats an amazing piece of work right there!
Hangarbay: If it were me doing it, I'd use a heated up exacto knife. If you warm your blade in a flame it will cut right through plastic... and I recently stumbled upon an exacto knife blade attachment for soldering irons!! So, a "hot knife" as it is called will be my new tool for vehicle customs! (it's the technique I used on my action fleet customs to get a smooth cut).

Hey man - no problem ;)
There is a really easy way to cut perspex. The perspex i've used for the windows was only 1mm.

This works really great - i allways do that way.
You can also use a "normal" cutter, you dont need this special perspex-cutter. I hope this video helps

I am in awe of this. Jules I can see why you like it. I had to get this video on the front page. Perhaps someone already added it and if so it won't hurt it being up there again!
-
This is one amazing piece to say the least, everything is perfect from the customizing to the paint apps 10/10.

Dang that is sweet!!

I agree, it is definitely one of the best xwing mods I have seen.
