This is my 1st time posting my customs here but a long time visitor and admirer of the talent on the board. I have been posting most of my work at yakface.. I Let me know what you think..
-
Here is a few more..
-
Very nice, really like that midriff Mando Gal. Your first post is now on our front page. Welcome.
-
Wow, love your customs. Great work!
-
Wonderful paint apps on the fem Mando, so clean and crisp I love it! Great customs all around I can't wait to see more of your work here. BTW what head is on the Mando, Scarlette of some kind?
-
Good to see you over here, drod!
Followed your work for a couple of years now; always great stuff! Good to see you on the front page!
Welcome!
-
thank you for the kind words everyone and welcoming to the forum and the front page intro Tamer...
Yakface - yes the midriff Mando Gal head is the G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary Pilot Scarlett.. It is not a bad sculpt once you give it a new fresh code of paint.
JediMerc - good to see you here as well..
Im working on a few other customs right now and Im hoping to finish them up before the end of the year..
-
some seriously cool work mate ,welcome to the YARDS a byword in customisation(this is the home of the some of the best customisers on the planet(the rest of us here have just lost the plot!)
-
Very nice work! I love your parts mixes and paint aps. The Snaggletooth is brilliant! I really love that figure but think it could benefit from a small scarf around his neck. The female Mando is a masterpiece! That is a phenomenal design and I really wish I had thought of that one! LOL You just can't go wrong with a tough chick combined with a hot body. Can't wait to see more of your work!
-
Cool stuff, I really like the Zabraks! The one girl who I'm assuming is a smuggler in blue, that is really awesome! I really like the holster and parts combination on that one.
-
awesome work welcome to the yards
-
Welcome to the Yards!
-
again thanks for all the kind words and suggestion everyone.. I agree with you Sprywalker, a scarf would like good on snaggletooth... Glad you like the Mando.. She was a great figure to put together.
Here is my last update for this year.. and I hope that everyone is having a good holiday season.. These are my entries to the yakfinities #46 Ladies of the galaxy..
These are my AT-RT ladies.... Im still working on the final touches to the vehicle but the crew is done.. I give you Jex, Lex, and Tess from left to right.
About the ladies..
Jex: She is and expert slicer, computer programmer focusing on vehicles auto pilots and combat simulations controls...She has help Tess build and tune the AT-RT
Next up
Lex the pilot.. Lex is a skilled AT-RT pilot but she could just about flight and drive anything... She got her skills from her dad an ex ARF Trooper...
Last but not least is Tess..
Tess is a very skilled mechanic engineer and vehicle restorer... She is Lex child hood friend and helped with the restoration of Lex Dads AT-RT.. This was a fun figure to but together, alot of work when into this one specially the torso..
Let me know what you guys think and hope you like them..
-
I put this one together for my secret santa.. I give you The Young Traveling Trandoshian.. I wanted to give him a vintage feel and I kind of captured that.. one thing I would of done different is to sculpt the straps on the lower legs instead of using styrene.. ;)
-
Your painting skills are brilliant, sir! Who's body is that midriff girl?
-
These look GREAT!
-
The 3 ladies look absolutely superb!
I never cease to be amazed by your amazing painting skills (as Clonehead's also mentioned)...I can't even bring myself to try painting a headsculpt for fear of 'damage beyond repair', but you can crank out top-flight skin/facial features.
Lex is the "queen" out of this set (though all 3 are phenomenally done): the use of the midriff sculpt was an excellent choice and the finely painted headsculpt caps a great figure. Great combination of parts for the legs and arms as well. Definitely what I'd think of for a female pilot!
Also love your Trandoshan traveler...you nailed the 'vintage'-like feel to the fig and whoever received this is lucky, lucky!
An excellent lineup you've got here!
-
This new trio is impressive as your painting skills.
I really enjoy seeing your amazing customs!
-
Wow nice update. Off to the front page.
-
Dennis, these ladies are out of this world! The paint apps are gorgeous. Love the creativity that went into these. How about a nice shot of the AT-RT?
-
I can identify most of the figs parts u used all except for Tess I'm completely stumped on her.
Jex looks like Ayala upper body and Lex is Delilah Blue upper body. But I'll be darned if i can even remotly guess what Tess is except maybe those lower legs might be Dengars. The heads are also great and I have no clue what line they are from. What could I say about the paint apps that hasn't already been said, great stuff and can't wait to see more from you.
-
Oh, and if that Trandoshan was for sale on ebay, I'd be caught up in one hell of a bidding war!
-
I too would love to see more shots of that AT-RT.
-
Oh my, all of these figures are most impressive! I love all of the ladies, exceptional work. The trandoshan is really perfect! Love the design and color choices.
-
hey fellows..
glad to hear that you like the latest batch and thanks for the kind words..
Yes the female skin tones takes me a few codes of paint to get right.. I have been experimenting alot here with different colors and pastels but the results are great when you take your time...
The trandoshan turned out better then what I was expecting.. Its an old Jedi Luke body with clonewars bossk parts and sculpt..
For Jex and Lex, I used the torso from a old Aayla Secura figure and Dalia Blue.. The headsculpts are from a gijoe caster on ebay..
I know that everyone is interested on what I used for Tess.. Here is the list of parts. She was alot of work and a pain but she turned out very well.
Arms: Fodder
Sculpt: mando female with sculpted hair
Torso: Yarna body reworked with putty.
Upper Legs: Yarma with sculpted side pockets
Lower Legs: Endor rebel trooper.
Belt: gammorean guard belt..
Hey Darthdaddy.. ahaha my figures are not ebay quality yet buddy.. but Im happy to hear that you think so..
-
wow no kidding Yarna body wow NEVER would've thot that. Way to go again love em all
-
hello everyone..
Here are my 3 newest customs.. Jabbas tax collectors..
The worm and young Umpass-Stay before becoming Jabba's bodyguard. These two partner up and are send out by Jabba to collect credits from Farmers that fall behind on their luxury taxes. Farmers that live close to Jabbas castle are considered privileged individuals an are imposed with a luxury tax by the Hut himself... .
The 3rd figure is of a farmer that is behind in his taxes.. Hope you like them..
-
My comments are on the front page.
-
Wow some outstanding work !! And like a few have mentioned you're painting of the figures is excellent !!!
-
Truly lovely paintwork mate - I've enjoyed your work on YF and its great to see you here!
Really lovely pieces, but they leave me wanting more!!!!!
-
woooow remarkable paint work looks amanzing
-
They all look really good, I need to up my painting skill. A lot of you on these forums are pretty crazy. I'll usually do a wash if I want some details, basically just mixing paint and paint remover to highlight the details. I guess I'm kind of new to more advanced paint apps, is there anything you recommend I look into?
-

Ain't that the truth! These are awesome, drod! Great concept (tax collectors), creative use of parts (i.e. Wooof's kama skirt as the shoulder wrap on the Klatooinian, the Florn Lamproid body (I think) combined with Quadrinaros), and paint applications (these guys look like they should be single-carded; Hasbro should be ashamed).
Really enjoyed these; the "worm" is my personal favorite. Can't believe you found a good use for Ben Quadrinaros; I never even picked one up b/c I dislike the character and saw no use for him custom-wise. Shows what I know!
-
These figures are amazing. That farmer is my favorite.
-
Awesome paint job all around. I especially love the mando girl. I've thought of using the Zam Wessel body in a similar way but wasn't sure how to pull it off. Thanks for the idea!
-
Great Work! I love how you went outside the usual Jedi/Clone Trooper/Original SW Characters customs; A Tax Collector! I've wanted to do something "ordinary" before.
-
hey guys thank you for all the comments and Im glad you like the figures, the paint and the story behind them... here are the part lists..
The worm (AKA Tax Collector)
Upper Body and Head - Ben Quadrinaros
Lower Worm Body - MIB 3 figure Mr. Wu..
Arms - fodder
Belt - Sculpted
This guy took some time painting and getting the different skin tone colors to blent nicely.
Umpass-Stay
Head - Umpass-Stay which is an excellent detail sculpt.
Upper Body - Mandalore
Legs - Mandalore
Arms - Nikto Gunner
Skirt - Mandalore
Shoulder Wrap - Wooof's cloth kama skirt
Shoulder Belt - fodder bin
Farmer
Head - X wing pilot. I am not sure which
Upper Body - Dr. Evazan TVC
Upper Arms - Star Killer
Lower Arms - Indiana Jones figure
Legs - Star Killer
Belt - Pirates of the caribbean figure.
darthstreams - I usually start painting my figures by priming them. after the primer is dry, i work applying on applying my base color... I paint my layers and highlights mixing my base color with lighter shades of my base colors. For example the Umpass Stay pants, I started with a dark red color as a base and mixed a lighter red in to it to do my highlights. Hope this helps..
-
Hey Imp... Here are some figures I put together for the contest that are going on right now here and yakface... Let me know what you guys think...
1st one up is Tatooine Dessert Punk.. one of my entries to the quarterly contest at yakface...
2nd up is Jaina Solo Jedi Combat Suit.. This is one of my entries for Episode VII figures... Just like what her uncle wore in Return of the Jedi which is my favorite..
3rd Jedi Leia Organa-Solo.. This is also another Episode VII figure..
-
Next up is my ultimate Pre-Flight Jaina Solo for my Episode VII entry here @ the yards..She was alot of work but really fun to work on.. The sculpt work was not easy but I think it turned out ok, but my 1st time sculpting a big part of the figure..
Last figure I finish is my take on a younger Leia Organa.. This is my entry to the Smugglers Gambit contest..
Hope you all enjoy the figures...
-
Very nice. What is the head used for the combat suit Jaina Solo?
-
Wow, I didn't see that 3rd gen Leia till I got in here. Looks good.
Hats off to you on that Desert Punk. I watched that series earlier this year and thought it was absolutely hilarious.
Look for this update on our front page soon.

Thanks guys..

haha, yeah Desert Punk is awesome..he is really corny but the dude can fight... Thanks for the front page update..
-
Nice job on all of these. The sculpting on the flight suit looks good.
-
I love both Leias. The Jaina is awesome, especially the face painting. I have a lot of trouble with the eyes.
-
glad you like the Jaina's darthsinister, I can believe it painting eyes are very difficult. It takes me a couple of tries and lots of patience to get them right. I find it that if my paint is smooth and with some drying retarder it makes the painting a bit easier.
Thanks Clonehead, the flight suit took some time to sculpt. The most difficult part was the sleeves, trying to me them look real and to hang naturally was a big task. For those you are wondering, I use aves to do my sculpt work.
-
Great Work!!! Really like to pilot look there.
-
I really dig the Jaina Solo and her mom. Great work!
-
absolutely love your customs. i love one on your first page, you used a gi joe scarlett head for her i think, a mandalorian with her belly out. such a fantastci piece. who is she??
also, that jaina solo in black is beautiful. kind of reminds me of talia al ghul. looks really really nice!
-
These are all top shelf customs! Very impressed with all of them. I really love the sculpting work you have done, very nice. Also your paint work is very minty!

Thanks for the comments Sprywalker, its always good to hear feedback from skillful customizers like your self..
-
Drod those Jaina figs are your best work yet! I simply love both of them - but that X-Wing suit one is something truly special! I had thought of doing a similar build but nothing that I could produce would come near that level of craftsmanship!
Total love it matey - sorry that it took me
So long to reply :)
Best wishes
Ray

hey everyone.. its been a while but I wanted to share some whips I have been working on.. but do to some major work that is being done to my home right now I wont be able to finish them until I get my office back which will be in 4 months.. When the house is back in order and all the dust is gone I will finish them up and post pics..
At the mean time I hope you enjoy the work in progress..
-
Looks great. Hate to think you have to wait four months to finish these, but I know how that works. Back on the front page.
-
Looks great. Is there any sculpting going on there or is it just different fodder put together?
-
Awesome work on these two background era from TCW! I see the detailing you sculpted on the Rodian's front skirt. Very intricate: nice work there!
Interesting choice of body for Walrusman; looks good already...looking forward to the finished product!
-
