Medicom Real Action Heroes Royal Guard
« on: November 18, 2009, 02:47:35 PM »
Sideshow Collectibles was kind enough to provide this piece for review, and I'm very pleased with it!

Size: It's slightly smaller than the 12" figures from Sideshow.  Standing next to The Emperor, it was ever so slightly shorter.  Still, it's taller than the Hasbro versions in this scale.  Overall, it fits well with my 12" Collection.

Detail: Stunning.  I don't know what else I can really say.  The robes flow well and have a wire ring built in so that you can pose them as you see fit.  The under robes were pretty plain, but so were the ones the actors wore.  Beneath that was not detailed, but you'll never see it anyway, so it's really not an issue.  The Force Pike is excellent, there was detail placed even into this piece.  And, for once, it was packed well and made sturdy, so there is no bend made into it from shipping.  The helmet is slick and glossy, as it should be, and menacing to look at!

Packaging: The Real Action Heroes comes packaged in a solid black box with silver lettering.  The front does open up to reveal a window box, and is held shut by a small dot of Velcro.  It is sturdy, and feels luxurious in your hands.  You know just by holding this package that what is inside is definitely of high value!

Overall Grade: I give this an A-.  While it looks magnificent and is highly detailed, I did not care for the stand and brackets it came with.  Don't really seem to hold the figure well.  I was hoping for it to be slightly taller, much like Darth Vader in the Sideshow 12" scale.  Still, if those are my only complaints, they aren't much, and it doesn't take away the fact that this piece is spectacular!

A cool figure indeed. Here is mine:

Too bad this figure lacks accessories I got used to from Sideshow figures. But besides that it looks cool. You can see mine next to the RAH TIE Fighter Pilot on the left side of the cabinet in the picture below (the RAH Vaders and my other troopers are still at the apartment where I live now and this cabinet is at the new house):

That is the shelf with the Sideshow figures, and unfortunately because of the automatic resizing of pictures you are not able to see the depth of the shelf. In fact I could display other figures in front of those. :)

Nice video, buddy.  The royal guard sure looks good.

I really like that Jules intro with the Death Star fading into the Imperial Symbol. That should be a new video intro standard.

It is a nice video but IMHO the introduction and ending are a bit too long and you only have 8 images of the actual product if we count the box photos. Thus 2/3 of the video are introduction and ending and only 1/3 is the actual figure photos.  :)

Yeah, you'll have to forgive me...I'm experimenting with Windows Movie Maker and such, so I'm trying new things out!

Cool looking figure.  But with it's inherently simplistic design I don't know that it's worth Medicom's pricing.
