Kid Galaxy "Dinosaur Action 4-Pack" Review:
Kid Galaxy is one of the many distributors of Lontic/Tedco dinosaur products and is the brand most encountered in major retailers. Their trade dress is more or less universal across the various scales and styles of dinosaurs released.
Today we will be looking at a trio of 4-packs containing static vinyl figurines of various dinosaur species, some rarely represented as toys. The figures are made of a rigid, heavy vinyl and are very solid playthings that are sure to satisfy dinosaur lovers of any age. The sculpting is a step above most vinyl dinosaurs from other manufacturers but still a bit below the level of master manufacturers like Schleich and Safari Ltd. There are plenty of details and textures all over each figure, but some details are exagerated (such as the size of the feet on several figurines for balance) and not completely scientifically accurate but do not detract from the overall quality of the figurines.
The paint apps on the skin of the dinosaurs are guite high quality and many have tampo'd patterns on top of their base color to make them even more dynamic and vibrant. The small detail paint, however is lackluster. Small items such as eyes and teeth are often misaligned or incompletely painted. This is a common malady on vinyl dinosaurs (and other animals) and is something easily fixed if you are even a moderately skilled painter but doesn't really affect a child's enjoyment.
For their price, $9.99 each, these sets offer great, fun dinosaurs for a very reasonable price. The fact that several figurines represent species seldom seen as toys makes these sets even better in my eyes as fresh new creatures will always be more enticing than getting the same 7 or 8 species over and over again.
