Some of my dios
« on: February 11, 2018, 04:43:23 PM »
I've been creating dios for quite some time, but just haven't taken too many pics of them. Here are two I created for my club's annual festival. Came in second with the Jedha marketplace dio.

I work with Styrofoam a lot of the time. Coat it with paint or a little plaster.

Here's my mini Scarif dio. The base is plaster-covered Styrofoam painted tan and with hobby grass added. (Just starting to experiment with those accessories.) The faux palm tree I picked up at Hobby Lobby in the floral section. It's actually more of a flower than a tree, but I couldn't find palm trees. The stem is painted brown.

I couldn't find my Scarif trooper to add, so I tossed in my custom Rebel marine.

Really nice looking dioramas! Such dioramas are perfect for display - I'm sure that's what you made them for...Have you made more dioramas you're going to share, too?

Thanks. I found these pix on the desktop. I created this one for my club's dio contest two years ago. I based it on the Rogue One preview trailer.

Again Styrofoam covered with plaster. It took me three Saturdays to get this one together, between the cutting, plastering and painting.

This was probably the biggest dio I've created to date. I have a few ideas for this year's contest already.

Over the weekend, I will take some pix of other dios I have made and post.

Wow, very cool scene! Again, thanks a lot for sharing and have a nice start into the weekend!
Do you live in the U.S.? What kind of club is it you're a member of? Sounds great!

Nice. I seem to remember one like this with prisoners in a line. Off to share the latest.

Proud member of the Kentucky Star Wars Collectors Club for the last 13 - 14 years. I'm out of the Louisville region but actually am a Hoosier (one of the club's few).  For the last 10 years or so, at our annual fall festival, we've had a custom figure and diorama contest. We've added vehicles in the last couple of years. I do well with the figure and dio contest. Haven't done a vehicle, but plan on it this year.

Like the Scarif mini-dio. The Jedha diorama looks good too. Thanks for sharing.

Great work, especially the Scarif dio.

Ron

You inspire me, Ron. Your dios blow me away. I saw what you did with your Scarif dio and tried to copy it.

Because of you, I'm going to try and make a small dio using wood. That's next on my list.

Meanwhile, here's a dio I did last fall for a supernatural/unexplained contest. It's my take on Death Troopers, one of my favorite SW novels.

Black foamcore with Death Star panels attached. Added some of the Halloween gauze and orange LED lights. Made a couple of custom zombie stormtroopers. It looks pretty good with just the LEDs on.

What a great little scene! What did you use for the floor? It's got a great, Death Star sheen!
