I was very surprised when Dr. Aphra out of all won the last official Fan's choice poll. I have to admit, I hadn't even known this character before and didn't vote for her, either. But after she made the final poll, I looked up her character on Wookieepedia. Now, I know why Dr. Aphra and both of her droids are some of the most popular and celebrated comic figures. It's great to have the story of an archaeologist as part of thrr Star Wars universe.
I remember that fans screamed for a release of 0-0-0 (Triple Zero) and BT-1 along with Dr. Aphra. And I just cannot believe that Hasbro listened...a release of these three characters on Comic Con is a brilliant gimmick. I mean which occasion could be better than San Diego Comic Con? It's just too bad that it's another exclusive set...if the price at the Con is $49.99 already, I don't want to even think about the crazy scalper prices on the secondary market...
Nevertheless I'm VERY pleased to see this set! Good job Hasbro! Thanks for listening to your fans and Star Wars enthusiasts!
This 3-Pack was also a very smart move from Hasbro to reduce the development costs for new molds of Dr. Aphra.
Obviously, Hasbro didn't have to do much tooling for the two droids. And combined with the TVC release on a single card, this will definitely bring profit for Hasbro.
"Don't tell me the odds!" Well, since two of the three figures are exclusive, I think the packaging could also be exclusive as well! It's a little strange to see these characters in TVC packaging, but I guess they have to be recognized by the customer as part of a specific line from Hasbro. And since The Vintage Collection is the current SA line in Hasbro's Star Wars (thank the maker it is!), again, I think it's alright. But I would've prefered a (Comic) Pack with different packaging to be honest. Let's hope Disney will let Hasbro bring back the Comic Packs...
Thanks for sharing the great news!
