yeah we had rememberance day here ,the whole country just stops at 11 a.m(people stand in the street and shops with their heads bowed ,stores turn their lights off and cease trading for 2 minutes) . to observe the 2 minutes silence ,all british forces in the world(except those in combat operations ) wherever they are observe the silence ,many people wear the Poppy as a symbol of Remembrance ,there will also be a service of rememberance at the Cenotaph in London on sunday(Known as rememberance sunday) and there will be another silence held . but the first silence is always held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (the official end of the 1st World War ,"The Great War").

my great grandfather was killed on day one of the battle of the Some with 60,000 of his comrades in arms ,mown down like grass by German machine gunners .
