Lol, what do you mean "settle"? Hand-made things are always more impressive in a collection! Plus you can be as nitpicky-detailed as you want (or not) since you're not a corporation with mass production manufacturing concerns to keep you from doing what should be done ;)

Oh and Tamer, I like your thinking on the Headhunter... Always liked those, especially the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels version, which someone needs to do a nice reproduction of! Kinda makes me wish I took a different route customizing my Action Fleet X-wing that one of the guns broke off of... Should have taken the bottom guns off and glued / smoothed the wings together for an almost-headhunter! (Sadly, my choice at the time was just to take off the fragile parts of all four guns and drill out a barrel in each to make it some kind of heavy gunner or something, lame!)

that atst did turn out realy awesome.  IT looks top notch posed out in the woods next to the old version!  those chin guns look awesome in profile..

oh yeah.. and...

OMFG I"M SO JEALOUS.  I have been wanting to do a freaking colonial viper for ages.  LOVED battlestar as a kid and loved the new version as well.  The viper is one of the all time best sci-fi space fighters ever made.  The battlestars were awesome too!  You need to design and build a custom launch tube to display it in!  it'd be awesome'

Man now you have got me off on e-bay looking for busted old x-wings for cheap!  shame on you!

I'll find the links to it, but theres a guy I've talked to on deviant art that has done some realy awesome mash ups of star wars and battlestar galactica ship models.

found that guys pics, they are of some viperesque fighters spliced into jedi starfighters and other ships.  him and I collaborated on a concept where the battlestar galactica jumped into the star wars galaxy instead of ours in the final ending to their journey.  The humans in the ragtag fleet joined the republic while the cylons, being machines, naturally joined the sepratist alliance giving them their "droid" technology a much needed boost!

anyways it was a fun idea to think about and this is some of his concepts I liked the best:

here is a link to his gallery on deviant art http://kavinveldar.deviantart.com/gallery/#_featured--11

I've got an old scratch built 6" viper I think you'll like too. I'll post it in my thread, check it out when you get the chance.

Nice buddy! Is that lower black one the shadow version? I remember you mentioning that you were working on two.

reconsgt... I have been so inspired that I just bought two junker x-wings off e-bay.  Dare you make me spend more money on junk! lol.

I'll be doing something similar for sure, only using sheet styrene instead of balsa wood for sturdyness.  Stuff around my house seems to recieve alot of punishment.

The x-wings which I bought don't have their cannons so I figure I'll have to figure out different weoponry anyways.

I'll definately be watching this thread closely, I like that top wing you've got on there.

I realy like the intake nacelles on the stealth one, what did you use for those?

TY,

As for sturdiness, they are very sturdy as they are 1/8" plywood, not balsa so the strength is there, also they have tabs on them that are screwed into the fiberglass base I formed in the inner hull. By bedding it in glass, it is far stronger than the originals.  A pic will follow

As for the intakes, I used a broken landspeeder. I cut the side pods off and halved  them.   I like these as they blend very well into teh hull. I will be using these on the finished model. The black one wasnlt intended to be a stealth version, rather a prototype, to work out the bugs before the final ship, teh benefit is I will have 2 ships as every pilot needs a wingman ;)

If anyone wants to build one similar I have hardcopy templates I made for the wings and top fin. Hit me up, I can cut some in either wood or in cardboard for use as a teplate for your project.

anchoring those in there with the fiberglass is genious.  How thick do the wings look from the front?  are you going to sand down the edges to make it more streamlined?

Naw, I'll try to make my own design as to not coppy yours too closely.  I'm probably going to give mine a more swept forward look with the guns close to the fusalage like the original BSG viper.

Recon,

You've got some amazing "skeels" there...Your paintwork on the customs and creations is superb. I love the ATST and this latest project is looking very exciting. Your swamp ship at the beginning is really stunning.

I think it was Tamer who said you should be working for Hasbro, he was right...
