spudafett IRL
« on: November 27, 2010, 07:31:45 PM »
I recently got myself a trenchcoat...  and while wearing said coat and browsing through the peddler's mall I came across an x-men origins "sabretooth" with a very similar trenchcoat...:
http://generalsjoes.com/wp-content/gallery/toy-fair-2009-wolverine-origins/Wolverine%20Movie%20Action%20Figure%20-%20Sabretooth%20with%20Coat.jpg
and I said to myself... I could use almost that entire figure to make a self-custom...

so, I got to work.  I cut off old sabre's hands and replaced them with an animated clone troopers hands (I wanted the wrist articulation), then I trimmed up his side-burns and repainted the face.  I added a shoulder cape to the coat to match my own with a little bit of pleather material and weathered it to match...  I then made two custom guns for myself which match my own real world 243 rifle and double barrel 12 gauge shot-gun.  Throw on a custom painted wild-bill cowboy hat (minus the crossed swoords on the front) and voila, instand "spudafett IRL custom"

increadibly life like isn't it!? lol that is me IRL for refrence.

and here is the real figure:

I've always wanted a trenchcoat and I just recently bought this one.  I got it online from a company in colorado called "down under saddle supply co."  It's a "Drover style" western "oil skin" coat.  The coat is 100% waterproof and extremely warm.  It also comes with an optional fleece liner that I just started wearing in it tonight since it's gotten so cold.  Let me tell ya though, even without the liner this thing is warm.

it's nice and heavy and feels great while wearing it.... If you have the cash and like the style (btw the shoulder cape is removable) then I recomend checking out their web-site for one.

Mine cost me right at 150 bucks btw (which is a sweet deal for a full length coat like this!)

anyway, I'm glad you guys like the figure.  I'm currently looking for a pair of cow-boy boot feet for the figure to match my stingray skin boots.

Tamer, the figure's guns are inspired by my own real-life guns, I just havn't posed for a picture with them, I guess I need to!

Spud, this is one of the best real world style customs I have seen. The funny thing is when I saw the pic of you standing on the deck I thought, he looks like the Sabertooth figure! haha Glad you found one as it is perfect for your custom. Great job reworking the head it looks very convincing as you now. The top part of the coat replicated with pleather is also a great touch to complete the outfit. Very well done and the pics are great!

I did make one before, it an old "me as a mando" style custom, something that I'd thought that I'd eventually make into a costume... but that never panned out.

thanks for the comments guys, I'll get pics of my guns and all tomorrow.

as promised:

one of my deer, an 8point buck, and my remington 243 and dual barrel 12gauge on my gun rack (the gun rack was made from my first ever deer which was a doe):

and I fixed the figure's feet, replaced the sabretooth's boots with the boots from a wild bill figure and painted them to match my stingray skin boots as well as re-painted the stock of the shotgun:

and a little fun on the customs shelf:
