So have been experimenting and am pleased with the results. I figured you guys would get the biggest kick out of my endeavor, so i'll post it here first.

Not bad for a prototype. I went for making the wires discrete, rather than making myself crazy trying to conceal them completely. Looking at it now I guess  I could have made the terminal a little smaller, but oh well.  Anyhow, I hope you kinds like it.  Comments and questions, welcome.
that is pretty cool. You ought to be able to run the wires through a figure's sleeve or arm, I would guess.

The wires are easy enough to hide. I was thinking a display base with a battery pack built in to run the wires to would be a cool way to go.

Awesome stuff! Dayton has been talking about trying to like a saber like this. Most excellent work!

Thats insanelly cool, how on earth did you manage to light that up.
You know what you need to do next..... A red saber.
Cant wait to see how you add the battery pack and switch to this.
I never thought something so small could possiblly be lit, but you did, and it looks crazy.

Thanks, Gang.

I'm working on getting the materials to do more of these. I need more Light Sabers. Does anyone know if anyone is casting them?

the clear ones take about a day each to set up. Kind of a slow process.

HK-47
« Reply #66 on: March 20, 2013, 09:33:29 PM »
I've been wanting to do HK-47 for a while and finally picked up an HK-50 BAD to paint. I figured it I'd be painting it anyhow, so why not get the less expensive figure. The ball joints were giving me some trouble, as they are made of that PE plastic that nothing will stick to. I ended up have to remove the joints and dye them black. It sucked haveing to cut him up, but, joint rub is no longer an issue. Definitely one of the dirtier paint jobs I have done on a figure. I painted a lot him with my fingers really. I still haven't painted the gun just because it doesn't look bad as is. I may get around to it.

The mold on this figure is fantastic. Great detailing. I wish he was a little bigger. He's pretty small compared to most of my other figure. I'm thinking the scale he's in is around 1:20th. He's close to seven feet in the game, it looks like, and the figure stands at 3 and 7/8 inch which is about right in 1:20th scale assuming 3 and 3/4 = 6 foot 3. Regardless of scale, I love the figure and really enjoyed painting it. HK-47 is my all time favorite Star Wars character, has been since the first KotOR came out, and I'm really happy to finally have him in my collection of figures. Thanks for looking.

Nice work man, I'm an HK fan too. I totally agree HK-47 has a beautiful sculpt, but he needs a bit of a height adjustment like you said, he seemed to tower over almost everyone else in the game. Great work though with this guy, he looks really nice!

You have some serious talent there! No idea who HK-47 is, but a very good paint job and a great looking figure! Also love your other work! :)

Great job man! I love it. I also really like the lightsaber. Did you use a surface mount LED? or something else?

Keep posting the great pics!

Why go through life base fig, when you can customize?

I'm also a huge fan of KOTOR, having spent hundreds of hours playing and replaying the game. This is easily the best HK figure I've ever seen. Outstanding work on this custom, as well as all of your other work that I've seen. Love your photography too.

Thanks, guys. My pics are all taken with an old Droid smart phone. I think it has a five mp camera. Doesn't always focus the way I want, but it was free, so I make do. I found the real trick to getting the photos to come out well is to get the lighting just right. I do no editing to them other than resizing.

Sten, for the saber I just chopped the emitter off a CW Shakk Ti's light saber and replaced it with 3mm LED.
