Yeah he's a cool character. I tried to find one to cast so I could make multiples since its just six parts but not for 80 bucks. That was the cheapest I could find a complete one on eBay for outside of having to buy the entire run of figs he was packaged in which was much higher. Great application, he looks sweet. I can hear him now, calling us all Meatbags lol

HK-50s are a good bit less $ and used the same mold.

Let me first say: Wow!  Simply wow!  This is THE best incarnation of HK I've seen anywhere.  Your paint application skills are just impeccable.

How did you achieve the metallic sheen on his armor?  Did you paint him the red-maroon color, then apply a light metallic drybrush?  Or vice versa?

I typically go with the paint I want as my overall base color first, then apply dabs of or drybrush metallic colors and have been looking for how to achieve a better effect---more like yours actually---when I do armor and the like.  Just curious how you attack something like this.

Again, a great figure!

Light side, dark side...meh.  Just give me a lightsaber and a blaster and I'll take care of it!

I'm glad you like him.

The paints are as follows.

The base coat is Model Masters Flat black followed by a dry brushing of Model Masters Steel.

The orange is Tamiya Flat Yellow and Flat Red mixed to the proper shade of rusty orange and thinned heavily so as to be more of a wash.

Then I did a wipe of brown, then one of black.

Then I buffed the finish to the luster I wanted. This also exposed the metallic on the raised areas.

I guess you could say that there is also dry brushing of the metallic on top of the orange in so much as I used the same stiff brush to buff the finish as I use to do some of the dry brushing. I just didn't add any more paint to the brush after it had dried long while without being cleaned. All of the exposed metal you see is from the orange being rubbed off, though.

I hope this helps.

Thanks again for the kind words Gents.

Thanks. I haven't finished anything in a while. I have a bunch of stuff ready for paint, I just haven't made the time. A case of lots of inspiration, but not enough motivation.

I know I overlooked this at the time, but thanks for responding about your paints and apps.  I'm  in the same boat it sounds like you are right now: lots of unfinished work, no time/motivation to do anything with them right now.  Hoping to see you back on track soon!

Those aren't figures those are works of ART!!! Sweet.
I just love the two of them together, that is one of the oh smack pictures. Those are figures that need to be displayed.
Just wonderful work

I finally got one done. Just a Night Adder figure with some paint and fodder bashed on. The wires you see are what is powering the LED in the light saber. It shows up better in some shots than others. My camera doesn't handle low lighting so well.
