Bandai Stormtrooper 1/12 scale
« on: January 21, 2015, 11:50:47 PM »
Hi All,

Well I have nearly got the new house unpacked and a parcel arrived with a Bandai Stormie inside,  I decided to take a break from unpacking for a few hours and build the kit and I have to say I was very very pleased with the final kit once it was built.

I have only attached one pic has everyone by now has seen reviews of this figure but the only thing I did was raised the neck a few millimeters so it wasn't sitting on the shoulders.

For me this kit was a joy to put together and it only took me about an hour as I cleaned the flash and mold lines that were on some parts but nothing to major to be concerned about especially if this is your first sprue kit.

The kit goes together very well without any glue but me being me I glued the parts that needed gluing so it won't come apart, I haven't built a model kit for a long long time and I was very surprised how detailed the parts are especially at this scale.

The articulation is another aspect that I love about this kit Bandai really did a bang up job with it without any lose of movement due to the armour. Another thing that I like about this kit is there are no connection pins that Hasbro have in their figures so this figure would look great on a display without taking away the realism due to connection pins.

Another major thing I like about this kit is it was only $20aus with postage compared to the $35aus - $40aus for the Hasbro figures that we pay here in Australia, so my verdict is as follows.

Price - 10/10
detail - 10/10
articulation - 10/10
accessories - 10/10

So I highly recommend this kit to any SW fan that loves Stormtroopers.

Ron

Nice. I have been on the fence about getting into a new line, but I might just bite now.

Cheers Shawn and if you do get one you won't be disappointed.

What's with the unpainted frown?

I was thinking the same thing and I think Bandai have gone for this look as per images given to them and I have looked as well and there are helmets that had no white between the eyes and black line.

The frown on a Stormtrooper helmet refers to the mouth grille which should be painted gray (for ANH) or black (for ESB and ROTJ). This one is white.

The brow is a different thing, it is the rubber trim above the eyes that can be added high or low depending of the Stormtrooper type (ANH, ROTJ, Sandtrooper etc.) :)

Ok the mouth piece hasn't been painted yet which it is in the progress of happening and the kit comes with either stickers or decals if you don't want to paint anything.

as you mentioned earlier

Not being rude mate but if you asked someone here in Australia what a frown is they would tell you it is when your eyebrows are brought together and the forehead is wrinkled.

The term frown for a Stormtrooper helmet was not created by me but by 501st and other experts out there. Check out StarWarsHelmets.com or 501st forums, if you don't take my word for it:

Well I wonder why they didn't give that frown some black or grey paint. Good eye for detail there Serg. I learn something new everyday! I bet Serg could write a heck of a research paper!
