Ron Hembling finishes up his latest diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, October 31 2019
"Hi All,
I have finally completed my derelict warehouse diorama for my Flashpoint Batman.
Recipe.
Base - the base is and wall support is high density foam and the corrugated iron walls are a clear plastic and the bolts, drain and drain pipe are plastic card.
The door is balsa wood with bolts and handle are plastic card and the rollers are 1:72 scale tank wheels. The telegraph pole is balsa wood and the electrical cabinet is plastic card, the lights are small book lights and the bulb covers are from a Star Trek Enterprise nacelles.
The crate and pallets are balsa wood and the dirt is a mix of sand and dirt with paint mixed with it and the whole dio was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and pastel chalks.
Ron"
Now that turned our sweet!
JDeck shares a Fall Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, October 31 2019
"I've been super busy, I always forget how busy it is in the fall. Fall is also the time of year when I get into an Ewok kick. I don't know why, maybe it's the leaves changing? I have a tradition on Thanksgiving Eve to watch the Ewoks movies, while drinking Moscow mules.
I've been wanting to build an Ewok village for a long time. My other Ewok display is cool, but I need the village. This is just a mock-up. It's just going to be a display for my Ewoks. I'm not looking to build some elaborate diorama."
Wow, I like his Thanksgiving Plan and his new Ewok Dio.
RCW Creations gets our Halloween started off right!

"As a finishing touch for a Halloween display piece, I have added bat LEDs to the box and then covered it with spider webs.
Final pictures to follow."
Now that is one most excellent Halloween Diorama.
Darth More shares Amazon deal on Skiff...

"Well, this was probably tust a test to see how high the demand really is...all orders were cancelled as far as I know from friends and facebook. Classic.
But I saw the TVC Desert Skiff is still at $35.99 on Amazon.com!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NDRK4R3/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=star+wars+vintage+desert+skiff&qid=1572511060&sr=8-1
That's an excellent deal if you ask me! See how much is it sold for here in Germany now, after they cancelled all orders at the initial "luring" price of 43,99€:"
I really feel for my overseas friends that collect.

"Thul Fain
A deep backgrounder from Jabba’s Palace, Thul Fain is _barely_ visible in the alcoves as Boussh walks in through the darkened audience chamber to thaw out Han. Actor unknown, but he merited a Decipher card.
He’s heavily inspired by Echo_Six’s custom of the character; if you haven’t seen it yet, check it out! Echo_Six was also kind enough to provide fabric and pointers for the undertunic. Fabric for the robe was color-adjusted by Stan. Custom sewn robe and tunic. An amazing head sculpt commissioned from Evergrey! Underneath there is a Sallah (Indiana Jones) torso and arms, waist and legs from the IJ Temple Guard, and feet from Bom Vimdin.
Thanks for checking him out! I really appreciate everyone’s feedback and support. Have fun customizing!"
Uh, wow! I like it, Shipyarders supporting Shipyarders making amazing things!

"Kaminoan Defector, Chau Ki
Approximately 2 years after the start of the Clone Wars, Chau Ki secretly defected from Tipoca City with a sample of the Jango Fett DNA used in the creation of all clone troopers. Ki escaped Republic custody and fled to the Separatists with her research and scientific knowledge of the cloning program. Her capture or elimination has become the main concern for Galactic Republic Special Forces Command (GRSFC)."
Now a second clone army under Separatist Command sounds interesting!

I did give up waist articulation attaching the abdomen to the legs/skirt, but was able to keep the Boss Fight mid-chest ball joint articulation."
He has another human Jabba Guard too. I can imagine his Skiff is very well stocked!

Jabba Man updates us on his Lando Falcon...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, October 26 2019
"Hey guys! Today I got to do a little more work on the falcon. I was able to source a better sized dish for her. I built the bottom gun for the belly and did a little kitbash and rework on the front end so there isnt so many gaps and it slopes down more smoothly. Also added some details around the vents on the mandibles ( not sure what they are called) and to finish it off I did a little weathering around the rear engines."
Talk about one awesome project. It would be so cool to get that front end so folks could turn their Legacy Falcons into the new version and back again if they so chose.

This fan-fic guard is made using Sora Bulq's head, Vizam's chest, Skiff-Lando's arms (one lower arm has been replaced by an extra Lando lower arm so both lower-arms are armored), Vizam's skirt, and Nikto Skiff Guard's legs (VC99). The triangular hip-sack-style pouch added in the front is from a BBI Special Ops figure."

"I've recently completed another barge reveler and though I would share him now rather than wait since the other companion pieces are languishing in development limbo. He uses plenty of mixed media and was quite a thrill to assemble once I got everything properly fitted. I toyed with the idea of an entirely soft goods outfit, but the fabric I was using simply didn't have the give to allow for full articulation. I drew a lot of inspiration for this one from a Gauron Echo_Six completed previously, and also want to credit Jaeger45 for info on fabric printing, which I employed for the lining of the figure's leather jacket.

Talk about one mose excellent custom figure. Wow! I also like the fact that folks are helping and sharing and others are using good tips and techniques to really up their artwork.

Ron Hembling finishes a Flashpoint Batman...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, October 22 2019
"Hi All,
I got a Mezco Ascending Knight Batman body from a mate for free but didn't come with hands, boots, heads or equipment. There was also tear in the chest section were he removed the bat symbol so I decided to add parts to the body and once I was done I turned him into my interpretation of a FlashPoint Batman.
Recipe - Mezco Ascending Knight Batman body and cape, the head is from a Sovereign Knight Batman, the gauntlets and boots are from Marvel's Fantastic 4 Mr Fantastic from Toybiz. The hands, batarangs, bat chest symbol and grappling hooks are from the Mezco's Ascending Knight Batman which I had as spares.
The points on the shoulders were done using plastic card then gluing them to the shoulders then gluing the cape over them. To cover the tear in the chest section I used a piece of plastic card as I thought it looked good as an extra piece of armour and the blades on the gauntlets and the sheen are was done using plastic card.
I didn't have any weapons so I made the pistols and grappling gun out of Star Wars Bandai Stormtrooper pistols and magazines and the holsters are also from the Star Wars Bandai Stormtroopers. The colour scheme for the bodysuit I got from looking on the net and looking at different variations of the FlashPoint Batman suit and then I used Vallejo Paints to paint and weather him and the equipment.
Ron"

"Hi All,
This was a commission I did for a mate in the States and he wanted an older Luke with a little belly and beard with grey thru it and his hair and he also wanted him to have a yellow saber blade. He also wanted him back on Hoth looking for around with a partial speeder in the background that he come in with.
Luke - is 3-3/4" scale and I glued the joints and puttied them up and used putty to do the beard and also added some putty under the lower section of the outfit to add just a little plump on his midsection.
The base was built up using foam board and the walls were done by ripping apart foam and gluing to the pieces to the wall and I then used spakfilla and covered the walls.
The hoses are just old computer cables and a head phone cable and the debri is left over parts I put together and painted and glued in place and the walking plates are square plastic card.
The top of the base has had rocks done by using Woodland Scenics rock molds and the snow is spakfilla and I used a small book lamp for the light. The background I got of the net and printed it out to give some depth to the back tunnel and the partial speeder was done using plastic card.
Ron"

Darth Daddy shares a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, October 19 2019
"I worked on this custom with Elias the weekend after doing The Master Codebreaker.
This was an action figure that we threw together on the fly in between working on other projects. Dad bored out the head of the Darth Vader and used a hot knife to achieve a precise cut in Vader's helmet. I took an Anakin Skywalker action figure and created a press mold of his face with some ProCreate, waited for it to dry, and then poured some liquid resin into my press mold. Once the cast solidified, we cut the cast to shape, painted in all the details, inserted the piece into our newly created hole carved into Vader's head and glued it into place.

Ron Hembling works on a new Star Wars Diorama...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, October 17 2019
"Hi All,
This is a commission I'm doing for a mate in the States and one I wanted to get in before surgery next week as there will be no modelling for up to two week as I'll have to keep the ankle raised. The mate wants an older Luke with a little belly and beard and a yellow saber blade on a Hoth type deserted Rebel base which he arrived to in a speeder..
The figure is 3-3/4" scale and I glued the joints and puttied them up and used putty to do the beard and also added some putty under the lower section of the outfit to add just a little plump on his midsection.
The base was built up using foam board and the walls were done by ripping apart foam and gluing to the pieces to the wall. I then used spakfilla and covered the walls.
The hoses are just old computer cables and head phone cable and the debri is left over parts I put together and painted and glued in place and the walking grates are square plastic card.
The background I got of the net and printed it out to give some depth to the back tunnel and the partial speeder was done using plastic card.
Ron"

Darth Sinister reimagines his images in the graphics section...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, October 16 2019
One thing I always enjoyed regularly was Darth Sinister's updates where he "reimagines" some of our favorite Star Wars characters, genres, movies, etc. with some of our favorite classic movies and actors of all time. Of course then photobucket had to come along and ruin the fun by holding all of our images hostage, but I am happy to report that DS has taken some time to reload said Graphics Section with some of his classic images and Comic Book Covers. It is just good stuff folks.

"I haven't been feeling very interested in doing figures recently, so I'm hoping that posting some of the things that I have started but not finished will motivate me to work on them.
I have been painting a lot of miniatures recently, and I think that is one of the reasons I havent been doing as many figures. It is a lot less tedious to paint something because I don't have to spend so long basecoating everything, and there is such a huge selection. It doesn't help either that they are so cheap compared to figures.
Here are a few of the minis I have finished recently."
I can sure see why he likes the miniatures and what a great way to get painting experience.

Darth Sinister customizes up for Halloween!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, October 14 2019
"Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday because I can make spooky art, spooky customs and spooky costumes. ;D
Many years ago (2011) I did some mock comic covers called Dark Lords Of The Sith. These were the start of a fun little story to lay the ground work for a Star Wars Sequel (way before the actual Sequels). If anyone wants to go back in the Graphic Arts section and read them they're still there. I just need to go in and fix the pictures, which I will do this evening.
The stars of this tale of Sith Lords were all based on Golden and Silver age Horror Movies, a homage if you will. These great Sith Lords are something I've been building my skills towards making into custom figures for some time. I was able to accomplish a Sith Master (Darth Vereor) a few years ago and had to stop on him and his pet Nexu "Blasko" because of time issues. I'm finally starting to balance out my time issues, so I was able to create his Defel apprentice Lord Vernula. The set is a homage to the late great Bela Lugosi and his portrayal of Count Dracula in the 1931 Universal master piece. Using the likeness of Bela Lugosi as the Master and the Nexu as a homage to Lugosi's film "Black Cat" I found the perfect apprentice in the bat-like alien called a Defel, again a homage to Count Dracula."
Now that is the way to celebrate Halloween!
CloneTroopr is back with a new TOR Sith Warrior...

This figure I've created utilizes a Boss Fight Studio blank.
The Sith Warrior wields a saberspear."

Starchaser shares a new custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, October 13 2019
"Don't have a lot of time right now - Autumn is always an exceedingly busy season in my world. I did manage to build a figure using a resin cast head of Kabe that got sent to me in a custom head lot. When I first saw the Funko Dark Crystal Age of Resistance figure Hup, I knew that the body would be a good buck for shorter figures, so I simply did a head swap (and painted the head) and viola - Kriki, the female Chadra Fan tech from Galaxy's Edge: Black Spire:"
Yepper, sometimes just a few parts here and there and thats all you need for a great custom.

JKNO shares a new Matchbox Custom...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, October 11 2019
"Some time ago I bought a set of Matchbox mini playsets and figures, all these are very close in size to Action Fleet (the reason I bought them). One of these sets had some kind of a (snow) walker, and I decided it needed a bit of a transformation to make it more "starwarsy", something like for example an AT-SE (All Terrain - Scout Enforcer). Here it is - still work in progress, as I intend to weather it more, and will add a few more greeblies on it, but need to have the time to search for the parts and do the job:"
Oh yeah, man I wish they would bring that line back!

Chuckles is back with more great updates...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, October 10 2019
"Now for something a little different. First a few props (a bunch more on the workbench).
And the reason I'm working on props! I've had this idea for years; I want an environment for all these figures. It's not really a Star Wars diorama, but is (obviously) inspired by Star Wars, and Rot Gut Station. I guess it's a scifi dollhouse? It's a work in progress so here's some working pics."
Folks I am just astounded, such great stuff!
Zoon3d shares his first customs post...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, October 9 2019
"Hi all, new here and first post. I've been working on some obscure figures recently, here's my first - Auromae Iselo, one of Enfys Nest's Cloudriders from the Solo film. Used a TFA Resistance Trooper body and legs, arms from a TFA Finn, all heavily modified, with a custom head. Much of the armour and head actually made from masking tape."
First off, welcome to the Yards! Second, man that is one ingenious way of making one great custom. Now that is a great way to introduce yourself!
RC-1136 shares a wounded custom...

Chuckles just keeps em coming!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, October 9 2019
"Meanwhile here are some pretty simple part swapping figures; I like to think of these three as brothers. From left to right; the in all green is a rebel officer, the one in grey is a crewman on a rebel ship, and the guy in camo pants is rebel special operations. This is a pic of them meeting up for drinks.
Another simple custom; swapped the head, painted the belt, added the holster, and some mud-weathering paint on the boots. (Made this one before Hasbro decided to make one similar.)"
And then he threw in a great Gonk Droid too. Man, it always doesn't have to be hard or complex to get a great custom.

Moronarama shows us more great Jawa Customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, October 9 2019
"The Utinni Kid is one of my favorite creations. Jawas are my focus for collecting and have always been my favorite aliens as a kids. When we played the Star Wars RPG in high school and college, I was a Jawa Smuggler with my own YT Freighter. It was riffing on that they got me the idea to make a Jawa Gunslinger. This current figure is my third run at the character (below is my original Utinni Kid and Doc Jawa figures), and I've also made a few drawings of the idea. My long term plan is to make a whole outlaw gang made of Jawas and droids."
That is one awesome plan and man those are some great Jawa Customs!

The Spectre makes some diorama elements...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, October 6 2019
"Diorama elements made from found items: cargo crates.
I made these cargo crates out of Fanta orange soda caps. I sanded down the undersides to remove the small protrusions where the cap attached to the breakaway ring that holds them securely to the 20 oz. bottlenecks and then glued 2 of them together base to base. Eventually they will get painted but this gives you an idea of what they look like.
Projects like this are cheap ways to make custom sci-fi diorama elements from junk items you have or encounter every day."
What a great way to get some life into your diorama for cheap!

Chuckles shares even more great customs...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, October 4 2019
"Thanks for the kind words guys. Lots more to come as I work my way through the back catalog of older customs.
I like to think of these three (extra dirty) guys as the mechanic crew that keeps Jabba's barge and skiffs running well. The first guy once really pissed off a collector when he recognized the parts used, but I bought a second at retail so it wasn't expensive when I used it for fodder. I made him about 10 years ago. The other two I made last winter while waiting for the barge."
Trust me, that is just the the start of three more great updates with multiple custom figures like the Rodians you see below:

JDeck lights it up!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, October 3 2019
"Okay, I got my lighting kit. 9V 3mm purple bulb with 9V snap connector and switch. I don't have a base yet, I think I have a big enough scrap piece to do this. Anyway, I just wrapped electrical tape around the bulb and fiber optics, made my electrical connections and that's it. So now, I can either paint the figures or work on the base."
Click on through to see the lights off images too. It really rocks.

Chuckles shares a new custom...

"Threw this one together recently. I like the look, but while editing these pics I'm thinking I may want to do some weathering painting. And since I don't want him to be a Jedi I will need to do something about that lightsaber hole in the belt (probably cover with another pouch of some kind). So probably this is a WIP pic."
Talk about one great Cantina Patron!
