-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 31 2016
"Hi All,
Indy dio is all complete and here are my usual outdoor pics. The final thing I had to do was give the diorama and figure a little weathering using pastel chalks.
Ron"
Talk about one fantastic looking diorama. Ron somehow always manages to up the ante with each new project.

Blizzard Force is back with a modern Vintage Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 31 2016
"Also, sometimes I just want to do something new...and there are more than enough opportunities for cool figures Kenner didn't attempt in the good old days. Hasbro added some pretty cool new figures to the Vintage line during their run as well, the more the merrier... ;)
The first one was pretty straight forward...a repaint of the B.A.D. U-3PO, I'd like to buy an "e"...et voila - the not so polite ;) Bespin Droid E-3PO appears..."
He also has a pretty cool vintage poster up to track his progress for all the modern recreations of vintage figures. It makes me miss the vintage line so bad!

"So just finished a Jashco Phurus. He was a lot of work. Many parts, paint, soft goods, even a bit of metal work. He's not a perfect replication of the images online, but I'm fairly happy with him."
I like how he turned out too!
Star Wars Rebels - One-Hour Season Two Finale - TONIGHT!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 30 2016
"In the shocking season 2 finale of Star Wars Rebels, destinies will be forever changed and iconic characters will re-emerge in what will surely be the most talked about episode of the season. In the one-hour finale, Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka seek out an Inquisitor to gain information about Vader, but soon encounter an unexpected ally in their fight against the Sith. When their search leads them to a confrontation with Vader (voiced by James Earl Jones), the three Jedi and their new ally must marshal all their strengths to survive. The two-part finale, which airs TONIGHT, March 30th, is directed by series Executive Producer Dave Filoni and features the return of Darth Maul, voiced by The Clone Wars’ Sam Witwer."
Watch it on Disney XD tonight!

They look great, especially that MonCal. I am still reeling over his Muftak from last time.
We welcome Forceflow to the customizing boards...

"Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster. Thought I'd break the ice with some work from the past few years. Didn't really start getting into customizing until the first GI Joe movie came out. And of course, when TFA was announced, I couldn't help it. Now I just need to get comfortable with photography and start getting everything documented...
First up is a re-imagined Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Finished before TFA, otherwise he would've been a Knight of Ren, I think."
First off welcome to Imperial Shipyards. Next, great custom!
BDC41866 gives us more!
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 29 2016
"This is sort of an Expanded Universe custom idea.....Im sure the Republic had several Maximum Security prisons/penitentiaries that held the worst scum in the galaxy...perhaps either captured by the Jedi or Coruscant police. So here is a concept maximum security prison guard equipped with hazardous environment gear, a shock prod and a blast shield. More to come..."
He says more to come and he means it. I sure do like the parts combinations he puts together. With all the lines I have seen him use his fodder box must be gargantuan!

"I just did a quick paint job on one of the transports. I was concerned about the gritty texture. I tried to polish it up a little, but it didn't help much, so I just started painting. The white material is very porous, so you need a primer coat to seal it. I just painted it black then dry brushed and added detail. Its not bad once its painted. Still, the smallest amount of grit makes a big difference in these small scale ships. But the cheap white plastic works well within a fleet. Not so great as a centerpiece ship. The frosted plastic is the way to go for that."
So, let that be a lesson when you are deciding on which print medium to use while on shapeways. It all depends on your need!

Ron Hembling gives us an INDY Diorama Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 28 2016
"Hi All,
The base is 90% complete I just have to get indy done and then a little weathering to both the figure and the base.
Until then I have done the jungle on the top using plastic plants which I gave different washes of Light and Dark Green. The dirt is a mix of garden mulch and dirt mixed together and it was glued in place and once dry I gave it a wash of light Brown and then while the wash was still wet I used a wash of Dark Brown and mixed the two together.
The small clumps of grass are from Army painter and once the paint dried I glued the clumps of grass and the plastic plants to the base. The moss was done by mixing some railway grass and green paint and then adhering it to the walls and floor.
The skeleton is from Revoltech and the joints were glued together and then painted. The spider webs were done by ripping apart cotton wool and then adhering it the base and then once the first section were dried I pulled the wool apart even more and adhering to the base."
Talk about movie authenticity and looking real. It just popped off the movie screen!

"The first one was pretty straight forward...a repaint of the B.A.D. U-3PO, I'd like to buy an "e"...et voila - the not so polite ;) Bespin Droid E-3PO appears...
For the second one, I had to customize a bit more (hair, blaster holster removed, silver boxes added), here's a comparison:
Several names have been given to this figure so far (Imperial Technician, Scanning Crewman, Scanning Trooper and whatnot ;) ) ... I've prefered Imperial Technician so far (same as in one of the Scanning Crew 2-Packs), so I used that designation for the card..."
I am really liking that Imperial Technician, wow!

JDeck finishes up his A-Wing Model...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 28 2016
" I finished up the A-wing model. With me nothing is ever really finished, I may fine tune some things. My original goal was to make the model better than the Titanium series stuff, or anything on the market, which unfortunately isn't a tall task. I found a polar lights display that will look good, and it might be big enough to hide the battery. I'll have to modify it with a hollow tube, and a switch."
It looks great to me.

Lee Bucerind - owner of Celestial Stars and Gems, a modest jeweler shop in a very upscale Coruscent neighborhood. Lee is not a rock star gem cutter, but he's reliable and inventive. People say if you want it done right go to Lee Bucerind, he's not flashy, but he's good."

JDeck shows us a model build update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 26 2016
"I did some basic paintwork today. I need to clean up the paint lines, always use 3M masking tape. I used Dollar store brand, I was in a bind. I was way behind. I was willing to make a deal. But I can fix it, a black wash will help too. Once I paint the interior it won't be so bright. Looks like my figure is in a tanning bed. It'll look cool once its detailed and weathered."
I am really loving the light work on this build.

Ron Hembling starts an INDY Project!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 24 2016
"Hi All,
Started a new dio tonight and I just realized that I haven't done a Indy dio for a long time so I decided to do one.
This dio will depict indy in a ancient ruin looking around holding a fire torch which will able to light up as if it was a real flame.
The base so is made using high density foam and it still needs a roof and a lot of engraving for the stone work. Indy and the skeleton are both from Figma and indy has wiring running thru is arm and body and down thru his left leg. I still need to putty up the joints and add his pouch and holster and the skeleton has had it's joints glued and will need some putty before painting.
Ron"
Ron definitely doesn't let the dust settle long before he starts a new project. Of course we will be following this and updating you on his progress.

Mandalore 25 is back with two new Sith...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 24 2016
"Made these two sith, Darth Wroth, and Darth Anarcis, from the Fan Film "Star Wars: Contract of Evil" for a customer. Sculpt Wroth's hair, rearranged their horns, and pointed their ears. This one wasn't simple, for there aren't any decent pictures of them, a couple of Wroth were helpful, but mostly I just watched the film over and over pausing it to get the right angles."
They look pretty nice to me!
The Boo kits out a TIE Interceptor...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 24 2016
"Hey all! Well, it's been awhile but I just finished up my latest project, a TIE interceptor. These are just some quickie phone pics, hopefully I'll have time to do some lit ones later. These are a bit washed out, and a lot of the detail painting is lost, but oh well, you get the idea.
Did the usual greeblie additions, but really tried to push myself with the lighting. I cobbled together a custom light panel for the sides of the cockpit, and ran a dual-voltage system into a custom battery pack with a nifty angel-eye switch. Then lots of FO.
I tried to do some engine detail, not super happy with it, but I guess it's ok. The base is made from sanded poplar."
Talk about adding some lights too! Daggone it all looks fantastic and it was good to see Boo back!
JDeck opens up the inside for me...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 24 2016
"Many thanks again. I'm afraid there's not much to show. I'm putting the 9v power source in the display base, so I don't have to preform surgery on the model just to change the battery.
I kitbashed a pilot today. The body is 1/48 modern U.S pilot, head is ww2 Russian pilot. It looks better than what came with the kit. I wanted it to be similar to the pilot in the original ILM model."
I had originally asked him to see how the lighting all worked. I have a few less questions now. Adding lights to a project really pushes it up a few notches imo.

JDeck adds some lights...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 23 2016
"I started working on an MPC 1/48 A-wing model kit. Pretty simple kit, other than the inverted panel lines its really nice, especially for a 33 year old kit. So far all I've done was wire up the lights for the engines and cockpit. I'm using a warm/white chip LED for the cockpit, and two warm/white 3mm LEDs for the engines. Not too many modifications to mount them, mostly drilling holes, and cutting a couple things. This is just a mock-up, I still need to modify some things, take it apart again to paint. At first I didn't like the smoked glass, because its not accurate, but it filters the light perfectly. I still have a lot to do, but Its starting to look pretty rad."
I totally agree, those lights really looks pretty cool if you ask me!
Custom Creator works the graffiti...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 23 2016
"Time to rattle some cans! Ok, not really. This was all done by hand with brushes and the help of a black and a white paint marker. All needs to be softened with some weathering. I think I might be able to fit a couple more in there....lol. I wanted to be sure I went with nothing really specific. The only "real life" thing in there is "DRE" as the first song on my Ipod tonight in the workshop was off the Compton album...lol. Also, gotta have the initials in there "CC"
I really like how it turned out. They say its all in the fine detail work and this diorama really shows that off to full effect.

JKNO makes a better display stand...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 23 2016
"The original stand/base for the Hot Toys 1/6 Interrogator Droid was kinda cheaply made, out of some soft plastic to look like the Hot Toys Death Star grate stands. But kinda poorly made, flimsy and wobbly. So I took an old Sideshow round stand that came with a 1/6 Jedi Training Remote, made a bigger hole in it and inserted the clear supporting rod from the Interrogator Droid. Glued it inside (the SSC stand has a back lid you can open) with epoxy glue and then added metal pellets (glued as well) to give it weight. Looks better than what HT made: the round base is smaller, it is sturdy and more elegant."
I agree it looks pretty good!

He keeps me aware of great Star Wars Deals on our Facebook Page. Here is his latest quote,

That sure works for me! And thanks for the word James!

Folks hands down Stronox makes some of the toughest looking custom action figures these eyes have seen! This latest Mando kind of reminds me of a cross between Judge Dredd and a Mandalorian. I love it!

"It's been a long time since I last posted, but I'm on a short break and decided to tinker with a clone custom.
Here is a sneak peak of a WIP. Just need to finish painting the helmet and he's pretty much done. Hope to finish it by the end of this week."
Well now he looks like he hasn't lost his touch at all. I always like it when the wayward check back in!
I-am-Boba-Fett is back with new update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 22 2016
"Here's a custom Asajj Ventress (Clone Wars: Dark Disciple) figure that I made. This custom figure is based upon artwork created for unproduced Clone Wars show episodes.
This one of a kind custom figure features:
- Custom sculpted hair and armor parts
- Custom vinyl clothing pieces to allow for better posability
- Custom paint work"
She looks fantastic to me. It is nice to see folks still continuing The Clone Wars Line even if Hasbro won't!

DaBooma creates the ultimate version of Rey...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 22 2016
"So I managed to get my hands on all three Rey figures.. with the plan to kitbash them together to make one super articulated Jedi/Resistance Rey. I didn't like the 5POA Resistance Rey's head initually, and was planning on using the 5POA Jakku head instead. But then changed my min.. I think the Resistance head is probably the best out of the three.
Anyway, here's how she turned out."
Folks wait till you see how he wove those three figures all together. Talk about amazing!
Blizzard Force is back with a modern Vintage Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 22 2016
"It always bugged me Chewie was only released on a ROTJ-card in the Vintage Collection. He was part of the first 12, after all... I've only slightly modified the figure and the Bowcaster, main job here was to repaint him, which has been lots of fun... :)
I've used a new picture for the cardback, never noticed the bow was missing on Kenner's cardback before - also the quality is better/higher now. The color field was enlarged to fit the large-size blister.
With this figure, the "first 12" are complete in neo versions now...and only Hammerhead remains to complete the other nine "Star Wars" figures. I'm hoping to complete him soon for a first overview picture..."
Talk about one cool project. What I wouldn't give to be able to buy something like this on the pegs in stores now!
Ron Hembling is almost finished with his latest dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Tuesday, March 22 2016
"Hi All,
The dio is now 90% complete, I just have to add a little depth to the snow and give it an icy look and then paint the edges.
The pipes/tubes are from old power cords and an old fish tank tube pump. Glued them inplace then added holders by using thin wire, I made the snow by mixing spakfilla 80%, PVA glue 15% and water 5% and mixed it all together and then started adding it to the base.
I will get my usual outdoor pics either tomorrow or Wednesday night.
Ron"
I am still really liking that Hoth Rebel Trooper.

I regret not thinking to video the whole build, but with an infant son demanding most of my time and brain power I'm not surprised by my lack of forsight (the first image is a quick head paint that apparently only plays on Flickr). Anyway, he's just about done."
Well now, I don't know why I didn't think of that combination, but Tim is correct. That GE is a perfect candidate for an awesome Deadpool. And congratulations Tim on the new addition to your family!

"Hi All,
I have completed the scout trooper and 90% done on the Rebel soldier. The Scout's joints have been puttied up and then painted/weathered using Vallejo paints.
The Rebel is a converted Hoth Solo figure and I super glued the joints and putted them up. I added cloth for the scarf and around the goggles. The backpack was made using plasti card and greeblies from the parts box, I did the beard using putty and still need to weather him.
Ron"
I am really, really liking that Hoth Rebel Soldier. Daggone Hasbro you better make something like this or I will be bugging Ron to make me one!
Darth Daddy is back with a REBELS Update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 20 2016
"One more Rebels post before we return to some Star Wars characters from the film series. Hasbro's Star Wars Rebels Captain Rex figure looked great, but we knew we wanted to embellish it a bit by increasing the articulation. Dad took the ball jointed shoulders of a Yarna d'al' Gargan to articulate Rex's elbows and the knees from a Clone Trooper Pilot to get his legs to bend above the boots. Dad hollowed out Rex's gauntlets and boots to accept the nubs Dad left attached to the ball joints that he glued to Rex's extremities. Dad then used a styrene rod to create pins to attach to the hands articulating Rex's wrists. Dad's efforts took an already amazing looking action figure, and made it that much better by increasing the poseability.
At some point, Dad said he is going to give him a proper paint application..."
Wow, that is a lot of work, but it really makes the figure look great! Ah if only we could get Hasbro to do this the first time around!
Gold Leader One fixes Han's hair again...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 20 2016
"I fixed Han's hair again, this time on the 3.75" figure. I used the same technique as before - dry brushed with a dark gray, then again with a lighter gray. I also painted the tips of the cylinders on his jacket silver, as they should be."
I for one love seeing this one more movie accurate. The 5 POA is bad enough, but then not giving this an accurate paint job bugs me even more!
JDeck uses shapeways to get some cool stuff!
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 20 2016
"I got a few things in today from Shapeways. First 24 1/2256 x-wing in cruising position. 24 1/2256 Y-wings, and a 1/2256 corellian gunship. The x-wings and Y-wings are tiny, I dropped a couple on the carpet, I'll never see them again. The gunship is really cool, really nice detail. Its hollow and it has a hole on the bottom and in the engines, so mounting lights would be easy peasy. These are all from J_Roncho he does a bunch of 1/2256 stuff. The grand total was about $25 w/free shipping, a little high, but its worth it. They'll go great with my 1/2256 fleet."
I have seen some horrible prices on some things, but if you are studious (as with all things) you can really find some fantastic things there. JDeck will keep us abreast of new things so look for more Shapeways Updates.

Blizzard Force is back with a modern Vintage Figure...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 19 2016
"Speaking of new stuff:
Zutmore (Snaggletooth)
Custom on left, original on right. :) I used a Zutton from POTJ and replaced the arms with ones from a Legacy Ugnaught. Afterwards he was repainted with acrylic colours.
Though she (! ;)) was originally released on a SW card she isn't actually part of the movie, but rather the - dreaded - Holiday Special. In addition, there's been a lot of confusion regarding the name in the past (Snaggletooth, Zutton, Zutmore)...all contributing to a pretty interesting character. ;)
I used a - wrongly designated - Zutton from POTJ and replaced the arms with ones from a Legacy Ugnaught. Afterwards he was repainted with acrylic colours."
It is so cool to see these new and awesomely painted figures on custom vintage cardbacks. I love it!
StarFall is back with a new preview...

"Hey Yarders,
I wanted to share a non-Star-Fall project that we hope to be launching as a VAST!comics title at some point soon called: B.U.N.N.Y. Squad.
The Bunnies are secret agents that fight global terrorism and look fine as heck while they do it. Inspired by the low budget movies of the 70s, Charlie's Angels, James Bond, and Totally Spies, the girls of B.U.N.N.Y. Squad all have their own specialties in the field and a boatload of high tech gadgets and gear. We'll be putting together a creative team to bring the Bunnies to the web this summer. Let us know what you think of the idea in the comments."
I thought it was an interesting take on a girl squad!
Ron Hembling changes the theme of his Hoth Diorama...

"Hi All,
Well I have changed the idea for the Bunker from a Solo one to a SW Battlefront one. Yeah you guessed it I was playing Battlefront and was playing the Hoth games, I will have the Rebel standing near the door way after he has just shot a scouttrooper.
I did a small amount of work on the dio today by painting the rocks black and also gave the walls of the bunker and foot grate a wash with watered down black.
Ron"
The idea change sure works for me. It sure looks tough to me.

Ron Hembling starts new Echo Base Diorama...

"Hi All,
New project and this time I'm doing a partial 6" Han Solo/Hoth Bunker dio.
The main structure is high density foam and I have used plasti card for the partial bunker as is the foot plate and with the ice corridor I used a soldering iron to do the lines which the simulates the making of the corridors.
I'm still trying to decide if I should have Solo articulated or statue type, I decide once the dio is built.
Ron"

Gentle Giant lists Darth Vader Scale Collectors Gallery Statue...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 16 2016
"Anakin Skywalker was a great Jedi Knight who fought for the Republic before the Dark Times. His descent into darkness was brought on by the evil Darth Sidious who would go on to convert Skywalker over to the Dark Side. When that happened, Darth Sidious crowned himself Emperor and named Skywalker “Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith”. Sculpted by Gentle Giant’s master artisans, this Darth Vader statue recreates the scene from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back of Lord Vader bowing in devotion to his master, Emperor Palpatine. Each limited edition, hand-painted piece is cast in high quality polyresin with crisp details. This statue also comes individually numbered with a matching certificate of authenticity. This Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Darth Vader Collectors Gallery statue will be the first figure in our new series of 1:8 scaled statues, celebrating the last 36 years of the Star Wars universe."

Blizzard Force is back with a Vintage Veers Custom...

"On to my favorite character from the original trilogy (who would've guessed...
I was really looking forward to updating this card for a long time....General Veers is my favorite character from the OT and I therefore wanted to correctly name him on my updated card. This is my first version of him, there'll definitely be a second version (in his AT-AT Commander gear) in the future.
The figure uses the body from Captain Needa (Legacy), the head from General Veers (TSC) and a customised rank badge. Afterwards, he was fully repainted."
Talk about one fantastic set up with both the custom action figure and then the vintage cardback. I am loving this project!
Jedi Minstrel gets a clarinet in carbonite!
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 16 2016
"Yes, you read it. No typo here. A friend of mine has been wanting to do something in carbonite for a long time. My clarinet was the catalyst for him. He took my POS clarinet from when I started in 6th grade and turned it into a POA (Piece Of Art). It was a no brainer - let this clarinet sit and collect dust or have a second life as an iconic part of my SW collection. I showed it off to my students (yes, I teach music) and they thought it was cool."
Well I think it is cool too. What a cool way to show it off!

I thought the place to start was designing and creating my character from the game. May I introduce Kyle Randor, I hope you like him!"
I know I like him. I think I may even recognize the base figure for this too!

Blizzard Force is back with an update...

"*gonk* ... *gonk* ... *gonk* ;)
The Gonk (from POTF) has been slightly customized and fully repainted. I wanted to use/update the color design of the original vintage figure for this one, since it's pretty unique. The most similar Droid in ANH is the Lars family Power Droid, but since that one features several additional accessories I wanted to save that for a future custom (with the corresponding cardback/picture). That's why in this case I used a screencap of the scene from which the original cardback pic was taken, but didn't screw with the colors that much..."
Folks, if you can't tell, I am really liking this project. Talk about another great addition to a modern take on a vintage classic!

I just watched The Spectre over the weekend. While I can't say I like Daniel Craig as Bond (no one lives up to Sean Connery imo) he sure does look pretty cool as a FO Stormtrooper!
Panther starts work on a Sith Temple!
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 14 2016
"I've been playing a lot of The Old Republic and been acquiring a few of the figures and wanted to make a diorama based on that period. I fancied designing a Sith temple, but keeping it to a scale that doesn't upset my wife to much lol and she thought she got her dining table back after I completed my last diorama!
Sith Temple's have been touched upon within KOTOR, Jedi Knight saga and the Dark House Star Wars comics, they are normally grand, enormous structures. To which, in keeping to my comment above I am trying to keep to a minimal size.
I'm using black foam board for the main temple structure, hoping to give it a dark, ominous feel to it, while the base will be done with white foam board. After my last set and the use of modroc, seeing how that worked rather well. I am thinking of giving the base a layer of modroc, to give a stone texture. I am thinking of building out and making it a little bit more angular in hopes to giving it a more traditional pyramid look to it.
I welcome any inspirational ideas anyone might have."
Well I sure am excited by the first preview pics. This is gonna be great! Stay tuned for more updates.

A friend of mine who is an avid The Walking Dead Fan brought this to my attention yesterday.
It seems McFarlane Toys is bringing up a new 7" Scale replacing the old 5" Scale while also severely limiting the articulation of said new scale. Sound familiar? We can only hope Hasbro hasn't set the trend of de-evolution on a grand action figure scale!

"Elias painted the bulk of this droid, while I jumped in at the last minute to sharpen up the paint on the yellow markings. Then we added a cost of sealer to complete the quick repaint of Hasbro's figure. It is a nice way to bookend the smuggler action figure on the shelf.
This quick project was a nice way to add something special to our Star Wars Rebels collection without devoting a lot of time to making a new figure.

"Hi All,
Last pics for the night, The dio is now 90% done. The sand was done with a 50/30/10/10 mix of plaster/sand/PVA glue/ Vallejo Desert Yellow, I mixed it all together and then spread it over the base and while it was setting I glued in place the AT-ST/figures and hulls sections.
I just need to make the sand a more realistic look to it and add just a little more weathering to everything.

Blizzard Force is back with two new vintage figures...
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, March 11 2016
"I finished two more figures last night, produced new cardbacks for both of them - the Jawa and Death Star Droid from Star Wars.
Legacy figure (customized), fully repainted
Death Star Droid (TVC), antenna added, fully repainted
The Kenner cardback depicts the Sandcrawler DSD (at least I think so), that's why I updated it with the name the droid got later (from "Legends" now) and a corresponding pic. I didn't really want to use the vintage figure as a basis for the colour scheme because it's not really depicted in the movie (only other DSD is the black one - 5D6-RA-7 - on the Death Star)."
It is easy to see he is going for maximum accuracy with this. Daggone it almost makes me want to cry that Hasbro won't continue this line yet. I am not saying Hasbro would give us the quality you see from Blizzard Force, but seeing quality, fully articulated, well painted, and accurate figures on vintage cardbacks has me yearning for the past I will tell you! Great work Blizzard Force!

"I painted my kitbashed TIE Bomber today. I used Tamiya Light Royal grey spray. I know TESB TIE Fighters/Bombers are blue, but I like the ANH grey. I'm not going to weather it Imperial ships are well maintained besides TIEs don't survive long enough to get dirty. All around I'm happy with the results."

DaBooma is back with a new custom Samurai and a Photo-Novel!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 10 2016
"Hey guys!
Here's a GI Joe Budo I finished using a Maraurder Taskforce body and James McCullian (Destro's Ancector) chest armor. The recipe is borrowed, with the exception of the vintage helmet I added. I had to cut and resculpt part of the back so it would fit on the Hogan head properly.. then I repainted it.
Budo was always one of my most favorite GI Joes. A samurai and a GI Joe?! How awesome was that? I remember the 11 year me, would pretend he was some ancient warrior that awoken to help combat evil.. or a Joe that could transform in to him.. like Donald Blake -- in to Thor. Either way.. he was such a bad *** figure.
So, in honor of that 11 year old.. I thought I would deviate from my usual "photo-shoot" and do something a bit more fun.
Enjoy!"
I know I sure enjoyed it! What a great custom figure too.

If you are like me, you hate buying a case of figures to just get one or two of the new ones. Hasbro Toy Shop can't seem to list past wave 1 of anything, my store pegs look like a tornado has blasted through them, so I am left using the internet and online etailers to find what I want.

I was left flabbergasted after spending some time in the work pages of Brad Harris yesterday. I, like many others, didn't care a lot for this particular beast in the new TFA Film, but talk about such a realistic interpretation of this beasty.
And once you get done with that you will be equally flabbergasted when you see his work on a TIE Defender (with working sounds I might add), A Krayt Dragon (yes that one we see the bones of in ANH), and a too scale Rancor!

Ron updates us on his AT-ST Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Wednesday, March 9 2016
"Hi All,
A little more done on the dio, I decided to make this a small Jakku dio with sections of hull spraweled over the place like in SW Battlefront. I have started building a section of a rock cliff which I used left over high density foam to give the bulk to it and now I have to start filling it in using plaster cloth.
The hulls sections are pieces of plasti card which I glued together and then let dry and then started ripping and twisting it apart using pliers and scissors. I have also started giving them a rusty look buy painting them Vallejo German Grey then dry brushed medium Grey and then a wash of flat black and then Hull Red.
Once that all had dried I then used a orange and black pastel chalk and rubbed them on sandpaper and then watered the mix down and dapped it over the pieces and once dry I rubbed the excess away. I still have to do some weathering to them but won't do that until the base is done.
Ron"

I am really enjoying seeing modern custom takes on classic vintage figures and then carding them up in the vintage cardback style. Blizzard Force is one a mission to complete all the ones Hasbro didn't get too as well as improving upon the ones they did do that had inferior figures. JDeck updates us on his TIE Bomber Project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Monday, March 7 2016
"I got some work done on my TIE Bomber. I straightened everything out and permanently glued the two pods together. Then I constructed the part that connects the wings to the pod, I was going to use the x1style but decided to get as close as possible to the real thing. I added a few greebles , some of which were used on the original model. I decided to make a tail gun turret on the rear of the cockpit pod, inspired by ww2 and FO SF TIE fighters, with a design resembling the Millennium Falcon turret. Now I just need to make the part that the bombs shoot out of, that hangs off the bottom."
Talk about one cool concept TIE Bomber!

I am also starting to work on the control panel for the carbonite slab, I'll be adding a couple of fibre optic lights. After that, it needs painting and adding the kibble around slab.
I couldn't resist having Boba Fett gloating in front of Han."

DaBooma is back with a New Stormtrooper...

"Hey guys!
I just finished a FO-Stormie. Body is Maraurder Task force, head is from a 5 POA New Order Trooper. I had to use a bit of sculpting putty to make the head fit in place, and painted the cod piece/crotch.
My only complaint with this Maraurder figure is that the white paint apps do not match the armor pieces, like their other figures. Maybe it's just the figure I got, but the white paint almost has a yellowish tint to it.
Thanks for looking!"
Now that is one tough looking Trooper if you ask me.

"Hello All! It sure has been a while but I am back with a few more minor back round characters starting with a different version of an imperial officer just wearing pants . This figure I have wanted to do for a while but like the great Zuckuss and 4-lom mix up here is another mix up. Del Ray books listed this character as a Endor special forces trooper however there are several pictures listing him as a mercenary or bounty hunter at Jabba's palace so you all can decide which is right . The final Dressellian from Rotj nothing big on that guy just a repainted cape. then the Other two imperial officers at Grand Moff Tarkin's Table, a regular Endor trooper in the regular outfit, And finally a super mouse droid from Rotj which was barely visible but there and not an easy one to do, but I am happy with it for now."
I am really liking that super mouse droid. Well all of it for that matter. It was good to see him back!

Ron Hembling shows us the figures for his latest diorama project...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 6 2016
"Hi All,
Have 90% completed the figures for the dio, I just have to add some minor details to the Rebels backpacks and then paint and weather the Rebels and the AT-ST Commander.
The Rebels are from Tamiya's American Infantry GI set and the heads are from Tamiya's U.S WW2 Pilot set. The weapons and gear are a mix of the Tamiya's American Infantry GI and German Infantry on maneuvers figure kit.
The AT-ST Commander has the torso and head fro the Bandai kit and you don't see it but has legs and arms from Tamiya's WW2 German Infantry on maneuvers figure kit.
Ron"
I think its pretty safe to assume everyone knows now that I am going gaga over his new diorama. His attention to detail is just impeccable.

Also made myself two birthday presents.
2) Revan (Lightside)
3) Darth Revan (Dark side-this one is still awaiting the Revan head cast from jedioutlaw31 from over at evilbay). So the present mask is a temporary one for now. Thanks for looking. Much more to come."
I am liking reading that much more to come comments. Make sure you scroll up after you see his latest batch as he shows us some work in progress coordination on a new REBELS Inquisitor.
Panther is back with a new diorama update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 6 2016
"Latest update Shipyarders!
I wanted to give this dio a unique look and give the walls some texture. I bought some modroc and applied a layer onto the dio. When its dried, its going to be heavy and I'll never the get the LEDS out ;D! I think you'll agree though, it's starting to come together. I just have to wait until the it's dried to fit the top LED's.
I hope you like the improvements."
I really enjoy seeing a project come together step by step like this. His results are really amazing. If definitely is the epitome of the alcove Carbo Han was displayed in.
Blizzard Force is back with more great customs on custom cardbacks...

"Just finished four more updates last night. My progress is still quick at the moment because I had already customized the figures in the past and am now supplementing these with new custom hardbacks I created..."
Hands down folks, in my opinion, it doesn't get any better than super-articulated custom figures on custom vintage styled cardbacks. I am really, really enjoying his project. I will keep you updated on what he shows us next.
Darth Daddy is back with an update...
-- Posted by Tamer on Sunday, March 6 2016
"Queen Amidala's loyal protector during the Trade Federation invasion crisis was Captain Panaka. Panaka was often referred to as "the quickest eyes on Naboo" for his attention to detail and selfless dedication to the safety of the Queen.
To create this super-articulated version of the character, I used the Captain Typho action figure from The Legacy Collection as my base figure. I borrowed the head and gloves from the original figure and modified the Typho where needed. Mostly it was the clothing that needed modifying and I was able to do that with a new sculpting medium I started using called ProCreate. Instead of making the hat removable, I just made the head swappable. Since I had two Panaka heads, I removed the hat from one, and sculpted in his hair."
Well now that ProCreate product had me interested and this is what I found on good ole Amazon (the reviews make this sound pretty daggone sweet). The button below will get you where you need to order some of this.

Ron Hembling starts a new Star Wars Dio...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 5 2016
"Hi All,
After having a little break after the last dio I'm back with WIP for a new dio using Bandai's 1/48 AT-ST and as per usual Bandai didn't disappoint with this kit the details is excellent.
I built the AT-ST straight out of the box and glued the legs in place and added a 1/48 scale German WW2 MG34 from the Tamiya German Infantry on maneuvers figure kit. I converted one of the drivers and cut his head off and glued it back on but gave it a small turn to the left and added arms from the 1/48 Tamiya German Infantry on maneuvers figure kit.
I gave the interior some minor paint details as the top is now glued in place and you wont really see much inside. I still have to make the base, paint/weather the AT-ST and the second driver who will be in the turret looking around and also paint some rebels.
Ron"
It sure does look like another great project to me!
JDeck shares new work on his TIE Bomber...
-- Posted by Tamer on Saturday, March 5 2016
"I got my Bandai Advanced TIE today, Amazon Prime is awesome. I started mocking up the parts, I temporarily glued it all together to see what I need to change. Its a little wide and crooked, but I can fix that. I dunno, its starting to look kinda cool. Its just one of those fun low budget builds. I'll change a few things. I still need to add some greebles, and something to make it really unique, to make it a cool variant. Like reconnaissance/light bomber, or something. Or a couple of defensive turrets. I'll think of something."
I think it looks fantastic! Starting to look kinda cool is an understatement.

So how bad do folks want playsets/diorama pieces to go with their figures?
-- Posted by Tamer on Friday, March 4 2016
Yesterday we introduced a new forum member, Nicov55, who showed up with some gorgeous dioramas. After conversing with him for just a bit he let us know of an eBay Seller he got some of his dio pieces printed from.
I got on there this morning and got my feelings hurt a bit with the prices, but then it dawned on me that this is how bad folks want set and diorama pieces to go with their figures. Now I don't know the first thing about 3D Printing so I can judge whether or not these prices are fair, but the quality seems pretty daggone sweet and you can argue with Nicov55's results.

Blizzard Force is finishing what Hasbro started!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 3 2016
"Hi everyone, this is my current focus - I'm working on completing a set of all Vintage Collection Figures (Hasbro missed quite a few if you compare them to Kenner's original vintage lineup). I had quite a few of those as a kid, so these are really special to me.
The figures I'm using are "neo" figures from Hasbro's current 3,75" line. Most of these have been mixed, customized and repainted using acrylic colours. Before, I was using reproduction cardbacks, but I've since started designing and producing my own cardbacks. I'm trying to use new (and/or updated) pictures for these, as the Vintage Collection often uses better pics of a high(er) quality - and I do not want to produce "repros" myself, but new stuff.... :)
There were 96 figures total in the original Kenner line (not counting re-releases of figures on later cards), 17 of those on the later POTF cards.
Hasbro released several figures in their Vintage Collection line (VOTC / VTSC / TVC), but I've taken some liberties in deciding which are replacements and which are still missing (e.g. there are 3 Stormtroopers in Hasbro's collection...but for me the "real" Stormtrooper - the one that counts - is the first one on the "Star Wars" cardback...and that wasn't produced again). Here's a list of the figures I'm planning to do....completed figures have been marked green and the numbers are from an overview poster of Kenner's vintage lineup:"
Daggone, but that Driver looks fantastic on a vintage card. I would have loved to have bought multiples of that one. Make sure you scroll around as this is a great reference source for which ones still need to be done too.
JDeck is kitbashing together a TIE Bomber!
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 3 2016
"I'm trying my hand on a kitbash TIE Bomber. I was fooling around today with some spaceship parts, and came up with a basic structure. I had the chance to buy a Fantastic Plastic tie bomber a few months ago, but passed it up, now I'm kicking myself. That's life, so I'm building a 1/72 scale one. Really all I need is the bandai TIE Advance x1 to complete. I'll use the wings, interior, and some of its parts to finish the exterior. It won't be accurate by any means, but you'll get the idea. Meybe I'll make it a First Order TIE Bomber. We'll see."
Well I think everyone knows I would be down for an TESB Version, but wow you can sure see the potential of this already!

Daggone it is awesome to see the type of poses he can get with full articulation. Oh Hasbro, why won't you do this!
DaBooma is back with his finished Rebel Pilots...
-- Posted by Tamer on Thursday, March 3 2016
"Hey guys! Here's a few customs I recently finished. A Rebel Pilot in Marauder Armor, complete with his own droid I call him R0-B1, or Robi. And a few other pilots I did a while ago, just as diorama filler.
Pilot is made from Marauder Task Force Figure, with the 5 POA X-Wing Luke's helmet. Vest is from a GI Joe Airtight. Droid is a Power Rangers Alpha head and an old R2 body.
Enjoy!"
Man, you gotta love those Marauder Task Force Figures. They make some awesome base figures. Those pilots and that astro look great!

Mandalore 25 finishes his Vergere Custom...

"Finished Vergere, super pumped for this one, she turned out superb. Snapped a quick pic beforehand so you could see the parts I used, a Geonosian lower half, Plo Koon body and hands, Luminara Unduli arms, and before I sculpt the head, it was a Geonosian head turned to face backwards for the shape. The lower robes, are cut from a jedi outer robe, the hood is from a clone wars Plo Koon, and the pouch is from a Cad Bane.
If anyone is interested, she's listed here."
I must say she looks fantastic!

Pretty straightforward build on this one: entirely reworked from the Padme Peasant Disguise VC figure with a slice cut out of the skirt, and some greenstuff sculpting for the veil and the belt. The saber is made from an unlit hilt accessory drilled out to accept a filed down missile from the new TFA Unkar's Thug pack. Pretty pleased with her overall, just need to finish working out a Nihilus to pair her with."
Wow she looks great, I am looking forward to seeing his Nihilus too.
