Terra Articulated Dilophosaurus Review.

Terra Dilophosaurus Review:

Terra is a company that is known primarily for their static vinyl dinosaurs and farm animals. They have made the move to hard plastic articulated figures with an electronic light and sound Utahraptor and have followed that up with this Dilophosaurus. How does their second articulated figure rank? Lets take a look.

The sculpt is passable and more scientifically accurate than the previous release in this articulated line- the Utahraptor, but it looks and feels like a toy. The Dilophosaurus still only  features 5 points of articulation, the same articulation that the Utahraptor sported- hinged jaw (tied to the light and sound action feature and activated by pulling down the left arm), swivel shoulders (move in tandem and are tied to the light and sound action feature) and swivel hips (the hips have a greater range of motion that the Utahraptor's did). The deco is simplistic but still pretty vibrant, even more striking than the Utahraptor was.

The figure falls short of being great by virtue of the simple sculpt and paint and having the majority of the articulation being tied in with the action features. It stands well, is solidly constructed and quite large for the $9.99 price tag. Terra has made some small improvements over their first articulated figure, but they still have a ways to go before they hit Chap Mei or Lontic/Tedco quality.

Nice review Dan. Sounds like they have a ways to go to be top tier, but not bad for the price. Off to share.
