Mattel "Jurassic World" "Battle Damage" Dinosaur Review:
As part of the inaugural releases for Mattel's "Jurassic World" line, they have released 5 "Battle Damage" dinosaurs packaged in open tray cardboard packaging. This assortment has a "battle damage wound" action feature on the dinosaur's right flank that works like the old "Battle Armor" He-Man and Skeletor figures' chest armor- if you push it in slightly, a spring powered cylinder rotates downward changing the area from dinosaur hide to a ragged red wound.
The first wave of dinosaurs feature the Triceratops, a Velociraptor, a Pachycephalosaurus, and the two I picked up - the Stygimoloch and the Herrerasaurus.
The Stygimoloch has 5 points of articulation- ball hinge hips (very little lateral movement), ball hinge shoulders, and a ball hinged neck. The Herrerasaurus features 6 points of articulation- ball hinge hips (very little lateral movement), hips, ball hinge shoulders, a hinge neck and a hinged jaw. The paint apps are clean and neat on both dinosaurs.
These dinosaurs are pretty decently sized for their $9.84 retail price as evidenced in the scale photos. However, three of the five dinosaurs in the first wave are very common species that have been released by every manufacturer that has ever produced dinosaur toys. The remaining two have never had toy releases (especially articulated figures) as far as I am aware so they were far more desirable to me.
