Yeah, it is.  I finished it up to be my entry in the m/v contest.

I tried using the same technique on the engine pods, but didn't let the paint dry overnight before peeling away the rubber cement.  That failed most spectacularly.  I mean it pulled the paint away all the way down to the surface!!  That's why the engines ended up being solid black.  Now, I mean it pulled off the primer that was applied WEEKS ago!  So I can't imagine why it did that.

wow, I was going to ask if you used primer... but it pulled that up to?!  something you might try on these the next time around is using a large grit sand paper to roughen up the surfaces you are going to paint.  The rough uneven scratched surface should hold the primer better... then the paint should hold better to the primer.

I used to do this to my spud guns back in the day.  If you've ever seen PVC pipe it has a very smooth glossy finish on the outside, this makes getting spray paint to stick increadibly dificult.  You could roughen the surface up though with sandpaper and then apply paint on that and scratches and chips were less likely....

One, it creates a super shiny surface, two, it doesn't tear holes,

simon.. seriously... you'd have to have a strong arm to tear holes in the plastic with a sheet of sandpaper....
