Ok folks I got to looking at more images and was even excited for some of these Marvel Figures as some of you are gonna chop em up and make great SW Customs out of em. Not that some of them aren't awesome stand alone figures. I think Zed is gonna be pleased:

Man I had to work almost all weekend, just got enough time to watch the repeat of Walking Dead last night and nearly forgot TF was on, spent most of the rest of the night digging through reports and YEP, I is happys. 

IM#:  Unlike most optimists I didn't expect much here, Hasbro likes to try to put the best foot forward, in this case they did, the foot was just gimped. 

Avengers:  OK not to enthused with many of the repaints (Thor, Widow, Hawkeye) but I really like the Red Skull and the Leader (he was in the floor pics) great stuff. 

Legends look cool, but I don't collect them so moving on.

Spider-Man is junk, I think we established that already. 

Wolvie legends look cool, the 1:18th stuff is crap again, oh well.

Thor LOOKS AWESOME!  Loki and that dark elf are must haves.   Can't wait for the rest. 

Marvel Universe: SWEEET!  Cloakd and Dagger, Abomination at last, Zemo is in a single pack as he should have been, Team pack X-Men looks better than the proto pics and that Thor Pack is a must have (Valkyrie at last WHOOT!). 

SW didn't have much but there was a significant moment I think people missed.

On the forth highlighted point down:  HASBRO admitted they screwed up, no blaming retailers, fans, or execs.  They owned up to the TPM wave fiasco and explained how they got it wrong.  I find this significant after so many years of tossing blame around.  The wording of the report makes me think they are genuine and want to do something about it.  I hope they do, but I noticed no one has mentioned it in most places, I think it's something pretty important myself. 

Joe, Yes looks sweet, those Ultimate figs (we saw Roadblock, SE and Flint at NYCC) look great.  The addition of Kwinn and Data Viper makes me a very happy camper.  Tomahawk redo is very cool and I might get it even though I have the original. 

All and all a good toyfair.  We needed it after the mess that was 2012.

Wow that is a really disappointing line up for SW fans.

I won't touch those limited articulation figures, I'm not interested in the 6" line either.

Looks like it'll be Joes for my 2013 fodder then...or maybe I'll stick to original Kenner vintage items...

No, the black line is supposed to have the better articulation.
Now, they stated that any new clone wars figures would be in the realistic style, right? Which line? super arty or crap arty?
I just brought wave 3 of the joe line home tonight, thanks to the Spectre for cluing me in to where i could find them.

Take a look at my lady jaye review and decided for yourself if the bad part would have been too expensive to pack into the now cancelled bad line compared to her massive amount of pack-ins.

Yep, hasbro's focus has changed alright. They probably decided that the SW name will sell the figures regardless and that they should pool their budget to save the gi-joe line.

That's what I'm talking about, Clint. I know when smoke is being blown up my rear and Hasbro is doing it. I would think with all the talk and rumors of several new movies coming out that Hasbro would be trying to shine a little. It's a money grab plain and simple.

As for the Toy Fair all I can say is ... that's it? I've looked at galleries on several toy sites and the 'pickins is crap'. I agree with all of you, the Joe line is the only one worth a hoot. I still ain't doing the 6" Black line. I may buy some of the 3-3/4" Black but that's all.

Oh and by the way, Tamer this sorry Hasbro line up made me think of a cool custom contest to run. I'm looking at everyone using Fix-it now and they can pretty much take any body and build a figure from the ground up. I see Chad do it. I think Spry is dabbling now, Clint and a host of others.

Here's the contest:

Pretend Hasbro is loosing the Star Wars license and your very own toy company is biding for it. Build a Star Wars figure from the ground up, articulation, stylized sculpts, intricate paint apps, pack-ins... everything you want in a Star Wars figure. Designate it to only characters that were found in the original Kenner Early Bird kit back in 78' and submit it for approval.

Could be fun.

When I first heard of hasbro doing 12 inch figures again, I was excited as I have a pretty decent 12 inch collection. I had heard the rumors and then stumbled across a couple of em today in a Target for $12.99 each.
  Folks, I wouldn't buy one of these to be a dog toy if they were on clearance for $1, they are just that bad. I would rather have a POTJ jar jar figure than one of these.

I have heard the same thing from other folks about those new 12 inch toys. I saw pics of a huge 30 some inch new Vader being made by Jakks Pacific I want to say that looks pretty good. I agree though, if there 12 inch figures are like this imagine what the 3 and 3/4 line, outside of the Black Line, is going to do with figures that look like this. I think Hasbro is making one colossal error. I know they are finally admitting that TPM Wave was their fault, but thinking that cutting back on AF movement and sculpting outside of a new six inch wave is paramount to suicide I am thinking.

That did suprise me as well, for a few moments I was thinking maybe Hasbro had woke up, and I won't say I don't still have hope, but I doubt one full wave of IM3 will sell through anywhere, I bet these 12 inchers will not go anywhere, the same with the still line, same with Wolverine's 3 & 3/4 line, ect. ect.  The only thing I see countering all of this is the Legends scale stuff which does have a huge fan base BUT not for Star Wars (and SW fans seem at best luke warm to the idea.  In fact the only fans I see lighting up to this are long time Marvel Legends fans but those are few and far between now).  I think the whole thing will end up blowing up in thier face honeslty.

LOL. True that Zed. I was referring to what they are doing across the board with the SW License.

And frankly when I see the quality and pack in they deliver consistently in the JOE Line up I just can't wrap my hands around what they are doing to some of their other lines. I guess the one hope we have is that we are now going to get movie years pretty consistent starting in 2015 as it seems they pool most of their resources into movie wave figures.

Honestly, I think it's because they are a year or two behind  behind with Joe, remember all of this was supposed to be out last June.  Keep in mind too they had a year's worth of prototypes and final production pieces in the works for 30th.  I will be willing to be what we see next after retaliation is all that coming out (I doubt very seriously they want to lose all that money on design and tooling).  All of these were done before Hasbro really started cutting back articulation and such (Avengers cut back but they were in the works, the IM 3 stuff wasn't even on the boards yet). 

On pack in's I would argue those are down in most cases.  Wave 2 does seem better but wave 1 was horrid (a basic weapon and some stupid gimmick like a launcher was mostly what we saw) also much if it is recycled (Joe can get away with that a bit easier than Star Wars most of the time) AND keep in mind that much of what we are seeing is recycles and kit bashes that were somewhat rushed due to the movie being pushed up (Lady Jaye is recycled from Renegades Scarlett, Cyber Ninja is a kit bash, two repaints of Storm Shadow).  Again Joe can get away with that as they have a long history of it where as SW cannot as easily.  I think the only true NEW figures thus far are Rock, Willis, and a few others like the troopers.  Granted all the cut back articulation ones are new, but most are kind of crappy. 

Plus I think much of this is relative to what we have been seeing.    Let's face it Avengers was disappointing after all the cool stuff from the individual lines.  Iron Man seriously broke some people's hearts, Wave 1 of Joe kind of hurt to be honest.  SW had distro problems.  MU is lucky to reach stores at all.  So all those kitbashes and such look great in comparison.  I think if all the lines were going strong we wouldn't feel the same way, even with the extra pack ins.  Also I think the Tomahawk has been on the boards for years, there have been hints about it all over the place, so again it's new to us but really not that new. 

And of course I am not a Hasbro appologist my any stretch (I hope I have established that by now).  But I really do think due to the backlog in about a year or two Joe will have similar problems due to stupid cutbacks.

When are you going to show us this line of figures LE?? I'm always interested in what other people are wanting.

I think this idea would make a great contest. I think most people would go for a JOE body because they tend to have the best pose-ability, but you could use anything. Some may want more of a 5 point articulation like the old vintage figures. I'd like to see someone use an old Micronaught body or even just make your own body by hacking joints from various toys and using FIX-IT.  Find or make a head you like. Use existing accessories or make some for pack-in items and draw or design a package (doesn't have to be working) to market your figure in.  Everyone here desperately wants to be toy designers  and have better ideas than the big toy companies anyway.

While we're on contests I've also been thinking it would be cool to see how far some of the great custom artists here can be pushed with a more character focused event.
Call it the Chewie Challenge. In 3-3/4 scale see who can make the best looking real fur covered Chewbacca. It could get wild!
