I started painting the AT-AT. The Royal Navy grey is actually very close to the color of the plastic. Ahh well. It'll work great. It is very slightly darker though, but not noticeably different. However it is a more flat color than the plastic.
The body I wanted some chipping effects so I painted it a darker color (Dark Ghost grey). Then I used the masking paint to create the effect. Once it is dry I can paint it the royal grey and peel the liquid mask. I don't care about accuracy anymore, I'm just doing whatever I want.
I'm not sure what I want to do with the head, so Ill see how the masking effect looks.
The legs I painted royal grey with no chipping.
I'll do the same for the undercarriage.
The last picture compares the original plastic (head) and the Royal Navy grey (leg) pretty close. But I must say this color is very strange. Sometimes it's really dark, sometimes it looks light. I use it a lot for imperial models, works great for ANH TIE fighters, and walkers.
