"Rampage: The Movie" Canister Contact George Review:
As with the Big City Brawl George set, the Canister Contact George set is the weakest of the 3. It is not as disappointing as the Big City Brawl George set though as there are guite a few nice pieces in this set.
George in his pre-mutated state is a statue. There is no articulation at all as he is a solid chunk of vinyl. Despite the lack of articulation though, George is actually pretty nice. Sculpt-wise, George holds up to any gorilla figurine released by Schleich, Papo or Safari Ltd, in fact, George might actually be better sculpted than any of the other manufacturers' gorillas. He is large and heavy and is a bargain at $9.94 compared to other manufacturers' gorillas as he is larger than similarly sized figurines and he comes with an articulated figure and a bunch of accessories.
The Rock figure is the same mold as the one in the Mega-George set but in a differemt color scheme. From the neck down, it is one of the as yet unreleased offerings from the new assortment of "The Corps!" Coming this fall. Just like the one in the Mega-George set, he also has an empty holster as he does not have an included pistol.
The accessories are a mix of brand new and recycled molds. The gold rifle, knife, radio, binoculars and backpack along with the silver canister are all new molds and are quite good. The canister is the only "undamaged" canister in the line and I wish there were a way to get additional ones without buying multiple sets. The sniper rifle fits into a slot on the backpack so the figure can carry it stowed on his back. The large green barrier pieces are recycled from Lanard's "The Corps!" line and are modular so they can be assembled in any configuration you want. The only downside to the barrier pieces, aside from the lack of painted details, is that the reverse sides are hollow and undetailed. The modular aspect of the barriers allows for the addition of as many sets as you want for larger barriers and they can even attach to each other to make closed fortifications if you have enough pieces.
For $9.94, this is a pretty decent toy, but do yourself a favor and get Canister Contact Ralph and Lizzie first as I feel that those sets give you more bang for your buck.
