Your Cyber Wookie's Ryyk blades are fantastic. Love the shapes, wrapped hilts, everything.

Terminator meets Star Wars. The best crossover I can think of.
Your Cyborg Wookiee looks phenomenal.

I could so see a soft goods robe or cape or something that would show just a hint of the metal terror beneath. I agree it is a great concept of SW meets T800. I always wondered how much cooler Luke would have been to have a real metal hand.

Loje Nella 3D build
« Reply #349 on: April 13, 2021, 07:02:56 AM »
Hey Yarders

Here’s my 3D Loje Nella build.  It’s not finished, but I couldn’t wait to show these WIPs.

I have given up on free hand sculpting.  1/18th is just too small, and I need to wear magnifiers that destroy my depth perception.  Don’t get me started on sculpting media work time.  It was all too frustrating.

My GF got me a resin 3D printer for my birthday, and I love it.  Thank you Cal for talking me through my baby steps.

I’ve printed a few things, but I decided to try Forger for iPad.  It’s only ten bucks, which is much more reasonable than Z-brush.

Anyway, I decided to start with something relatively simple, Loje Nella.  He’s another blink and you miss him character from Jabba’s palace.

I started out with a couple of spheres, a hemisphere and a cylinder.
Blocking it out was pretty quick.  There is a learning curve and there are a lot of features to try out.  Once you get the hang of it, you can really move quickly.  Detailing is fun, but I can lose hours obsessing over a single pixel.

Once I was satisfied, I downloaded the file onto the cloud, then to my slicer program and then I stuck the flash into the printer.

I am very happy with the results.
My Phrozen prints slices 30 microns thick.
I could never match this free hand.

The body will come soon.
See you then.

It's so good to see you back Sjefke! Now,these are some thrilling screenshots right there! Never saw this character before and you say it's an easy one to make a CAD for. Okay then, I have no idea about how difficult 3D shaping really is, but I now it's time consuming.
This piece turned out great printed out! Can't wait to see the full custom figure.

So apparently you've made the first step into a larger world! I'm genuinely impressed.

By the way I think you would be well advised to marry your GF after she gave a resin printer to you. Just sayin'. Oh, and happy belated birthday to you!

Thanks so much Darth More.
I’ve ever really been away.  I still watch what everyone is doing on ISY, but haven’t produced much.  Ive just spent the last two years trying to sulpt miniature heads, and it has been slow going, and I’ve been watching ISY.

And you’re right.  Virtual sculpting and resin printing is the next level.  The detail is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve got a few other projects in the works and hope I can do them justice with the painting and soft goods.

And (BIG AND) I fully intend to put a ring on it 🥰.  She’s perfect for me.

Wow, that looks excellent! 3D printing sure holds a lot of promise, especially in light of Hasbro's weird approach to the 1:18 scale. My son is working with a Elegoo Mars for 28mm figures and having a ball. I haven't convinced him to shift to 1:18 for me yet :) He is still working of perfecting his technique with prints and building supports, so has only experimented with stl's from other folks. Soon enough (probably this summer) he will venture in to designing his own figures.

I’m sure that Elegoo has a little downtime.
Maybe you could time share it with your son.
Once I have the body sculpted out, I can share the iCloud link.

Wow, that's really a kind offer! My son said he thinks that's a great idea also.
