I'm done collecting
« on: February 15, 2010, 03:34:23 PM »
Well, I'm done collecting Star Wars stuff. I've been collecting since episode 1 came out, but lately I've just gotten bored of it. It's also taking up too much of my money. After seeing the pics from Toyfair, I just realized that I don't want to collect anymore. I'd rather save my money and buy other things that I want. My custom figures thread will not be updated, so please close it, and I will probably post pictures of my collection one more time, as it has grown since the last pictures. I think that the only thing I'll be buying this year is the AT-AT.

I might also sell some of my stuff after talking with my parents (It's their Ebay account.)

I'll still hang around on this site though, because I still love Star Wars and the community here is great. I also enjoy seeing the fantastic customs you guys produce.

Thank you sir. I've also got nothing to do with my stuff. After I leave home in about one year, I've got no place to store it all. So if I'm going to get money from it, why not get it right now?

Sorry to hear this dude. Glad to hear that you're staying here with us on the boards though. Are you looking to sell anything through the Yards here by any chance?

I know how you feel, and you're not the first or last to feel that way!  I'm glad you'll be hanging around and contributing!  If you're going to sell it all, make a good list and post it here first, we're ravenous when it comes to sales!

Thank you for the comments guys. I will make sure to have a thorough list, and pictures if you want them, of what I'm selling. I love collecting, and it's a great hobby, but I just don't have the money to do it anymore. I always see something I'd like to have when I go to the store, and instead of buying these figures, I need to save my mone for other stuff.

It's been a fun 11 years of collecting though, and I've met a lot of nice people that love the hobby just as much as I do    :)

I look forward to seeing some awesome customs from you guys in the coming years.

I have been at this since 1975, yeah it can get boring and repetiive, especially in today's market of rehashes and repaints (Look over at GI Joe, talk about burnout).  Still I have found shifting focus helps a lot, it keeps things fresh and alive.  But also money can make a huge difference and I have lived that as well.

But seriously go where your heart leads you and if says stop and give it up, more power to you.

Yeah, i agree with Jay, at least you'll still be hanging around the site. Like most collectors, your interest will wain and might pick up at a later time. i know i was off Star Wars for about 3 years before i got back into it at the end of 2008!! But i think im way to obsessed and have a way too obsessive personality to give it up!!
