The Drall
« on: December 22, 2009, 02:47:19 PM »
INFO: Dralls are small stout-bodied furry bipeds native to the planet Drall in the Corellia system. They are short-limbed, with claws on their fur-covered feet and hands. Fur coloration ranges from brown and black to grey or red, and they do not wear clothing. Dralls have a slight muzzle and their ears lay flat against their heads. Their eyes are jet black.

Dralls live a lifespan similar to that of humans, spanning an average of 120 standard years. The difference is that Dralls tend to reach maturity far more rapidly than humans. Dralls are at their peak at the age of 15 standard years, after wich they begin to advance into old age.

HOMEWORLD:
Drall was a pleasant, temperate planet in the Corellian system, being one of the Five Brothers. It was the homeworld of the Drall, and famous for its great food, and the famous Boiling Sea.

It was believed that the Celestials actually moved the planet into Corell's orbit from an unknown location, along with its four brother planets, facilitated by subterranean planetary repulsors and Centerpoint Station. It is unknown if the Drall were indigenous to the planet or whether they were transplanted there by the Celestials.

Over 35,000 years before the Battle of Yavin, Drall scientist Tiran developed the Theory of Universal Reference.

About 30,000 BBY, the planet was annexed by the Infinite Empire.

In 500 BBY, Drall joined with Corellia and Selonia in a failed attempt to conquer Talus and Tralus.

During the First Corellian Insurrection, the Drallist faction assumed power on Drall. It was later blockaded during the Second Corellian Crisis.

BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:
The Drall were a small furry yet highly intelligent species found on Drall in the Corellian system. They were descended from burrowing mammals and they were extremely diligent record-keepers, and it was said that they had recorded every trivial event since the dawn of intelligence. Libraries were among their greatest forms of entertainment, as were story-telling sessions called Ta'sharr.

The planet from which they originated was unknown; thousands of years before the Galactic Civil War, the Celestials transported the species to Drall in the Corellian system. Drall was usually hot and members of the species were covered with thick fur. Drall rarely wore any clothes except a belt to carry personal belongings. They were very fond of jewelry composed of ores and gems, which they made into beautiful works of art. Some Drall also believe that they originally hibernated before becoming civilized and build rooms in their houses that remind them of caves. These rooms help the Drall relax and think clearly.

CULTURE AND HISTORY:
Dralls are very self-confident beings who carry themselves with great dignity, despite the inclination of many other species to view them as cuddly, living toys. They are level-headed, careful observers who deliberate the circumstances thoroughly before making any decisions.

Culturally, Drall are scrupulously honest and keep excellent records. They are well-known for their scholars and scientists. Unfortunately, they are more interested in abstract concepts and in accumulating knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Although they are exceedingly well-versed in virtually every form of technology in the galaxy, and are frequently on the cutting edge of a wide variety of scientific fields, they rarely put any of this knowledge toward practical application.

Like Selonians, Drall society was clan-based. The head of each family was usually the oldest female, called the Duchess. The Duchess worked with all family matters and held a daily Ta'sharr with the children of the clan. Drall family members supported tourism in areas like the Boiling Sea, they also worked as scholars and trinketsmiths. When a member of a Drall clan reached 18, the members of the clan gathered together and the Duchess awarded the Septar of Drall to the person.

Drall rarely carried weapons and were usually peaceful and quiet. Drall police officers wore medallions around their necks and carried flashsticks to disable criminals. The Wingriders were a division of police that rode ibbot mounts.
