BIOLOGY AND APPEARANCE:The Orfites are sapients indigenous to Kidron. Due to Kidron's thin atmosphere they have four large lungs in a cavernous chest. Orfites have broad noses with large nostrils and frilled olfactory lobes. Their skin has an orange cast, with fine red hair covering their scalps and trailing down their backs. Little distinguishes the sexes, though females tend to have thick eyebrows.
As their home world of Kidron has low gravity, most Orfites who venture away from it require the assistance of a power harness for normal movement and comfort. Orfite society revolves around the sense of smell, their most powerfully developed sense. They produce strong pheromones, using them distinguish among one another in the same way humans use faces.
CULTURE AND HISTORY:The Empire considers the Orfites little more than uncivilized savages. Only through the grace of the Empire is this world allowed to live in peace. The Gordek realizes that this is the case, and the councilors go out of their way to ensure that their world remains unexceptional and easily forgettable.
The Orfites are a people with a simple culture. They have generously shared their world with people that most of the galaxy considers beneath notice, and that generosity has been returned with warm friendship and profound respect. While most of the Orfite sahhs have ignored high technology, some have adapted to the larger culture of the galaxy.
Kidron sustains itself by selling kril meat to other worlds in Elrood Sector. The meat is a staple in diets around the sector. While kril farming has spread to most of the other worlds, Kidron remains the most plentiful and inexpensive source of the meat.
