My farwell
« on: December 06, 2010, 04:03:25 PM »
Well guys I just wanted to drop everyone a note.  I am now officially out of collecting.  I have finally sold off all of my collection.  It was a fun 5 or so years.  I want to give a big thanks to the staff for creating a great site and thanks you for letting be a part of it.  I want to give Shawn aka Tamer a big thanks for keeping me going and giving the oil companies extra profits in trying to find him extra minty carded figures.  I'll still drop by now and then to see whats up.  This is a great site and everyone needs to keep going to make this the best site out there.  It has come along ways since it first started.  Farther then I thought at this point.  Kudos to everyone.  Thanks for the fun and have a safe and happy holidays,  Chad

Chad, I've known you here and abroad for many years now, and the privlege is truly ours.  You've been a fantastic asset, and I completely understand where you're at with collecting.  I can't thank you enough for all the help you've given to us since we opened our doors 3 years ago.  Like Doc said, don't go too far!

Yepper Chad we burned up them roads during the ROTS wave didn't we. It was sure nice to get a collecting partner who was just as crazy as I was! Who knows maybe the bug will hit you again, perhaps in another facet, but I sure hope you do check in often.

Whenever I hear something like this (and feel free to ignore my questions if it's prying too much) I wonder of folks who are getting out:

1)  What got you into collecting in the first place?
2)  What made you leave the hobby?

Again, all the best.  Had fun with your trivia!

#1  I was at a local flea market and saw a table with an x-wing and snowspeeder for sale for a couple of buck, didn't buy them and then came back to buy them and they were gone.  That sparked an interest to see what my old stuff was worth and the rest is history went full steam ahead.

#2  What got me out of it was the expense of the hobby.  At my high point in collecting I was buying 2 of each figure, one to keep carded and the other loose.  That lasted a couple of years then the prices started to rise so I decided to just go loose.  The last straw was to prices seemed to keep increasing and repacks and repaints were driving me crazy.  Also to cost of gas hitting stores 3+ times a week was adding up.  Also I was running out of room to store all of the stuff, it was just getting to be too much.
