Okay, so I've been lurking on here for a little while now but I never posted despite the awesome customs you guys make. But I just had to say something after reading this fan comic, it's just too good.

Great storytelling, great visuals, you got the SW feel perfectly. I really enjoy reading stories that happen at the same time as the movies. I know the Azzameen are actual EU characters but I'm not familiar with them. Just looked them up quickly on Wookiepedia and it seems you've done a great job with making this story based on the X-Wing Alliance game. I'm really looking forward to read more and should catch up and read the previous issues for now. Keep up the good work!

Hadrien,

Thank you for your post, I'm pleased that my work prompted you to comment.

I do hope you look back at previous chapters, and if you like seeing what goes on while the movies are in play you'll love chapter 13.

Thanks once again.

Jules

I've read all of your chapters, and this one was probably my favorite, I especially was blown away by the "on deck" battle with the Stormtroopers.

Ok, now that I've gotten all my stuff updated; let me post my praise for this "Graphic Fiction."

Jules' photonovel is the best thing out there bar none!! It is the perfect blend of photographs, photoshop, action figures, graphic images, etc. One of the main things, visually, that I love about this photonovel is that even though Jules uses some graphic images for backgrounds, the pics always have depth to them. Too many times I've seen photonovels with graphic backgrounds and the entire picture just looks flat. Also, even though Jules uses some graphic images, either the way he tweaks them in photoshop or it's just some sort of Jedi magic he uses, but the images do not have that "video game" feel to them. There are some images that look real life, some look almost like a comic book; but needless to say - this photonovel is the most visually stunning photonovel there is!! Not only does Jules capture the motion and excitement of the epic space battles, but Jules also captures that "gritty" futuristic feeling of Blade Runner and Franklin (UK movie not released in US). I don't know where he finds some of the images he uses, but they are simply amazing.

I've mentioned this to Jules on yakface, but I actually took the time to go back and read all 19 chapters in a weekend just to get up to speed and make sure I was catching everything. Man, am I just blown away at this series. I love the fact that it's OT, and the fact that Jules got the idea from a PC video game is just cool!! This photonovel is the flip side of the coin of ANH/TESB/ROTJ. It's the "hero" story of Star Wars without having to focus on the Skywalker family. The Rebellion is much bigger than Luke, Leia, & Han and Jules is portraying THAT story perfectly!!

The custom figures and vehicles are also great. I've mentioned this to Jules several times, but when I look at other folks photonovels (especially Jules & Justin's) I love looking at background images and trying to figure out what they've used to make a particular custom. One of my favorite from this photonovel is the holoprojector made from a vintage "Turret and Probot" gun turret!

But Jules isn't just gifted at graphic designs; his writing is also superb!! The banter between pilots is spot on, and the romance starting up between the pilots is great. Plus you've got the story within a story of the Azzameen family and the missing uncle and then BAM!!! who does Jules throw into the mix???? Characters from his Dark Child photonovel!! Crossing over the two story lines is awesome!! I can't wait to see that custom vintage Imperial Transport from Dark Child, it's probably one of my favorite customs Jules has made. Also, hoping to see some of those custom B-Wings in action soon also!! Back to the writing, sometimes little easter eggs are put into a chapter and they may go unnoticed, so (speaking from experience) it's always cool when someone else can spot them, so with that I have to say, I thought the whole "I'm giving her all she's got" line (from Star Trek) was just hilarious!

I could go on and on about this photonovel. I could see this printed in book form and hanging from the comic book rack at my local grocery store.

I agree, Jules is a master wordsmith too.

We wouldn't look near as awesome without him.

Ignore the "frown face" in the post above. That's suppose to be "? !" I need to turn the "smiles" off when I write.

Jason,

After 20 Chapters I don't recall ever getting such a comprehensive critique of my work, it was a real pleasure reading through your comments.

You made the point that the evenets of Star Wars 4,5 & 6 were larger than Luke, Han and Leia and that is the whole point of this story, i's just on the periphery running parrallel to the events of the film, which is why this story appealed to me so much.

In conclusion I am almost finished Chapter 21,, which is likely to be a 2 parter, so I hope you stick around.

Cheers,

Jules

"20 Chapters"? Did I miss something or is that typo? Or have you slipped Chapter 20 in unnoticed? Either way, I'm sticking around. This is a great forum!
