Hello,
Here is a few pics of an A-Wing I'm working on...
This was originally a POTF A-Wing I picked up at a yard sale for $5 two or three years ago.
It was VERY dirty and gross, and ended up sitting in a box of other SW vehicles until just the other day when I decided to have a go at it...
The ship was completely disassembled, and washed in warm, soapy water. I then masked off the gray sections of the hull, and re-painted with Testors flat light aircraft gray. After that had dried and set, I again masked off the fighter and re-painted the red sections of the ship with Testors gloss dark red. The clear engine pieces were omitted from the re-assembly.
I applied a dark gray acrylic wash to the entire ship, and then dry-brushed with a flat aluminum. Once the dry brushing was complete, I added another wash of acrylic flat black for added depth. The decals came from my bin of extras. The biggest challenge was the canopy, as the original had become quite dirty, and heavily scratched. I used Isopropyl to completely romove the factory paint apps from the canopy...I washed it, and then dipped it in Future Floor Wax. I placed the canopy under a bowl to dry overnight, and the next day it looked as though it was brand new! The canopy rails were then re-painted.
I know it isn't exactly Canon, or screen accurate, but I love the heavy weathered look on my SW ships. I still need to finish the cannons, the landing gear, and the aft engine area of the ship.
Thanks for looking!
