WOW that is nuts. It's because they were limited to one per person I think. Since each scalper could only get one, why not charge insane money for waiting on that line! The panic over this year's Hasbro exclusives is ridiculous. Honestly I think this is because every single one of the items would have been very successful retail releases.
The scalping has gotten a little out of hand the last two years, it doesn't really effect me as I am pretty patient. I haven't paid more than retail for any SDCC exclusive item I've ever bought. Wait until October or September when it's on HTS, or when regular Boba hits.
I feel bad for anyone paying more than $25 over retail for this set, I mean a regular Boba comes out at the end of the year, right? It's the panic that feeds this type of stuff, and it's more than silly that people are paying four times the price before the vast majority of fans taking advantage of fellow fans to fund their California vacations dudes who live the Simpsons Comic Book Guy stereotype as a mantra attendees get home from the con. You know, I can see up to double the retail on Fett or the GIJOE set but... really, the prices are pretty predatory. I really just can't stand the whole scalper culture that has arisen around comics and toys since the 90's.
