Grimace the hutt, bit of pop art, sculpted in sculptris, 3d printed, painted with some fancy glitter and pearl paints, and hit with a high gloss varnish. I have another I printed, then smoothed out with epoxy, this one was not smoothed out. Card art took me a few hours to do, but I'm happy with it.

Lastly for my update I wanted to share some of my learnings about 3d printing. The higher your build height the quicker the print will go and the lower the quality. Originally I was printing at super high quality about 0.04mm build height. This still gives the appearance of build lines but to a lesser extent. Anyway for some larger less finely detailed prints you may want to go with a larger build height, but then again come the big build lines. I wanted to smooth out my prints but I was printing in PLA (acetone approach did nothing, but should work with ABS) So for a few prints I made the build height 0.1-0.2mm and then brushed with a clear two part epoxy. You can see the results in the attachments for the force awakens vader helmet I printed.

Wow, so cool to see all the great activity here. I got two of  the posts on the front pages and plan to hit that last one tomorrow. Awesome printing advice too. I think that Grimace the Hutt and box art turned out fantastic!

I love Grimace, the card art really brings it all together.

Got the other work on the front pages. Good stuff. I enjoy seeing what you get into with your printer.

Happy New year all! Here's a diorama I picked up for 20% off at big lots over the holiday season, gave it a new paint job
