DS Customs 2018 Thread
« on: July 20, 2016, 10:22:55 AM »
Hello everyone!

Decided to make a new thread opposed to digging up my old one. I haven't been able to make that much with my full time work and full time school, but soon one of those will be ending (school) so I hopefully will get back into the swing of things. I recently got a 3D printer so just wanted to share some of the stuff I've printed or made with it. The lightsaber is 8 different parts and I found an Stl for it online. The naga Sadow sith pure blood head is sculpted by me in sculptris, converted from obj to Stl, and scaled and converted to gcode (format printer understands) in cura.

It doesn't look like you need Hasbro anymore. You can just print any figure you want. Coolio!

Off to share.

My original Naga Sadow sculpt took about 2 days to print because of the ridiculous high quality build height I have my prints set to (0.04mm) which is almost 10 times finer than average. Then the wip pics, black coat, red coat, then terracotta overlay with details.

haha no plans to put it on a body  ;D , I have found a place for him in one of my display cabinets. I'm actually working on his rival Ludo Kresh right now, and think it's coming out pretty well. Probably will be a bit before I have that done and painted. Other things I've been up to is, I printed a g0t0 directly of the model from KOTOR II TSL, and scanned my 15 inch cthulhu and printed him at 2.5" scale.

Looks Great excelent work! What size nozzel did you use to get that fine detail or is it just the standard 4mm?

Wow, these look great too. I would so love to see the process of you starting with a design and taking it through to the printing and finishing phases. So cool.

How long would you say it takes to print out something like this? and do you make sure you are there to watch it or is it something you can leave and then come back to later?

Off to share.

This is such a cool work!
Between the great projects you and Closet Jedi are showing, I am seriously considering putting a 3-D printer on my wish list.
