SmythsToys delivered well packed, better than Amazon.
All boxes arrived in perfect condition. They had a 10€ discount on purchases over 50€ in stores and online. I took advantage of it three times. There's no reason for me to buy from Amazon anymore.
I rather support SmythsToys. Neuss was the only city in Germany with two stores. On Saturday I learned that one of the two was closed back in January. Business is tough these days.

I paid
21€ for Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter
15€ for the Snowtrooper Battle Pack
8€ for Boba Fett's Mico Starfighter - the cheapest way to get a Boba Fett with arm prints.

LEGO has such cool sets. I so like them.

I am wondering if I will ever see vintage pegs like you have either.

Look what I found today in a comic shop:

It just sat there for 12 years, collected some dust while waiting for me to pick it up for 30€.

Yes, it was hidden behind some other items, but I still cannot believe how I could miss it for 12 years. Part of the reason is that I wasn't into the TCW line 'til 2018. I added some more pictures of the comic shop above.

Better vintage pegs than in any of the stores I have been in for a few years.

Man, wall to wall dinos. Jurassic World has the collecting market down pat. Lots of inventory to choose from.

I keep telling myself I am only gonna get the micro galaxy at-ats when they come out, but it is so hard to resist. Nice report.

Well, I could get 10% discount at my local drug store ROSSMANN. Their stores here in Dresden still have 5 AT-STs on pegs. Very tempting. Have you seen yesterday’s reveal of the AT-AT and the Imperial Shuttle from Jazwares? Good times!

Store report: SmythsToys

Dresden, Germany

Sat, Apr 8, 2023

I rode my bike 8 miles to my grandfather's house today and stopped at SmythsToys on my way home. After all regular stores were closed yesterday, it was nice they had open a day before Easter. I got there just in time 30 minutes before they closed and this is what I found:

Reva was 9.90€ so I picked one up for customizing purposes.
I feel very good after the bike tour. It was quite fresh, but I also got some groceries on my way home to recover with a nice beer in the evening.

Thanks, here's an interesting documentary answering the question of why we've seen declining aisles for toys at retail - especially big box stores. I watched the 43 minutes in 2x speed and it was well worth it!

Store report: SmythsToys

Dresden, Germany

Wed, May 10, 2023 (late May 4th report)

Just a very quick stop at the store today to take pictures of the most relevant stuff.

LEGO

They added a locked glass cabinet to the LEGO section for their high-end sets!

Hasbro

The official MRSP for TVC figures is now at 20,99€! That's where they all start.

Those starships by MATTEL's most popular HotWheels were a nice surprise. They're die-cast in different scales and cost about as much as an action figure these days.

Plus you currently get a poster for May 4th with purchases of 20€ or more.

The Corps!

This multipack for 25€ is a nice contrast right next to TVC figures.

AVATAR

Jurassic World

Well, if you were in shock like me by how drastically the Star Wars section has shrunk, let's take a look back in front of the store where their clearance takes place.

Plenty of stock right at the entrance/exit area - hopefully this will push sales of our beloved action figures..
