I actually started the "step-by-step" instructions so that also youger fans and model builders can build their own diorama on a picture frame. The desert models especially are very easy to build, although many moms will probably not be pleased with sand in the house...Thank to the maker for vacuum cleaners! 

For more accuracy I will paint some weathering onto the Swamp Speeder next...

Thanks Ron! Yeah, I started with the easiest models and continued with the more challenging ones. I am also pretty happy with the Kashyyyk Dio and I am looking forward to weathering one of my Swamp Speeders!

When I got home from work on Wednesday night I grabbed another picture frame and started the next project.

First, I painted the back with a brown acrylic paint. I used a little more paint to give it a bit of  texture:



I let the paint dry over night. Technically you can also go from here and let it be this way. I might do another one like this and just apply a few plants. That was it looks like an arid lake/riverbed. Then I glued the plate behind the outer frame:



Next I applied a thick layer of (wood) glue onto the brown surface (about 0,3cm/0.12") and scattered some sand onto it.
 


So when the glue dried completely over (another) night (Friday) I could remove the loose sand. And that's what's underneath: A hard surface of sand. For additional stability you can apply some extra spray glue on it. I would recommend to cover the outer frame with tape, then.



This sand is very fine as you can see in the picture below. I was looking for some sort of this sand for a while and finally found it in a pet shop that is spezialized in reptiles.
I even asked them where this sand comes from. They didn't know either and probally didn't even care. Haha, but I assume it either comes from Australia or Africa...what do you think?



So this little Geonosis display took me just about 15 minutes of "working time". It's not much work as mentioned before and I am happy to be able to make this even during the week and not only on weekends...

  Another great mini dio! The sand you used has the geonosis color. Personally I think the AT-TE looks awesome on it.

Thank you JDeck! Yes, I agree with you! The Action Fleet AT-TE looks great on it. The reason for this might be that the figures are not weathered and therefore don't really fit into the environment...
I am going to re-paint and weather some figures and vehicles over the next time. Also a display for the 3 3/4" AT-TE is planned...but first I have to finish the repaint of the NR-N99...

And to the sand: Yes, I really had to look for a while until I finally found the right type - therefore I bought a 11 lbs bag...should be enough for the next bigger projects

Thank you Ron and Shawn! I am glad you like them! I will paint some weathering on a Phase I Clone Trooper soon, so that the figure actually fits into the environment of Geonosis.

By the way did you know the Emperor has a passion for Classic Cars?














Since I am a big fan of the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz from 1959 I got a 1/18 scale model of this beauty! The idea of this scene came to my mind and today after work I finally realized it!
