I was able to get a Jabba's Skiff Guards three-pack for $21 at a local shop's Christmas party. This let me finally hack up a Sgt. Doallyn figure without stressing about the cost.
I sanded the neck post and Dremeled the head. Here's a comparison of the modified post and an original. It took a lot of sanding and a lot of MST3K episodes, but I ended up with a nice fit and good range of motion.
The recurring nightmare:
On the subject of nightmares, I tried to piece together an upgraded torture rack Han. It's a TVC carbonite Han with the jacket, arms, and head from the TAC torture Han. The TAC Han has a hard plastic torso and the arms are held in by large flat discs instead of pegs, so I cracked the torso and sanded the discs into pegs so they'd fit in the new torso. The inner jacket has sculpted grooves/channels that fit over the original torso, so I sanded down the new torso to fit in the recesses and let the arms assume a near-normal relaxed position. Other than the weirdly angled scurvy-leg sculpt, the new figure's main shortcoming is a neck that's too short, but I'll take it over the original. A better pair of hands is in the works.
I also Dremeled a stormtrooper Han alternate head for the "My friend" and subsequent Wing Guard hickory shampoo scene.
Speaking of stormtrooper Han heads, I threw one on a TBS Dutch Vander. I've got to believe that Han was able to con stick time in a T-65 at some point.
Thanks for looking - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
