Talonreap's Clone Wars Armies
« on: August 13, 2017, 02:52:34 PM »
Hey all! I've been following the Shipyards for over a year now and I've got to say it's my favorite collecting site! Everyone is friendly and supportive, not to mention inspiring! I collected several of my clones when I was young, then got into hobbying, and now have combined both! I plan on posting some customs later this week, but to start here are some pics of my Republic and Separatist forces. I'll post them in this thread as best I can. Apologies for any odd lighting and focus, it's my first time documenting my collection. Enjoy!

Very nice stuff. I need one of those Clone Tanks. Didn't get it when it came out and am now regretting it. Off to share this to the front pages.

Thanks Tamer! Here are some more, with notes.
Below are assorted ROTS clones, organized by division. I have the start of a 501st squad, the 212th, Palpatine and Shock Troopers, and others who I plan on putting under the leadership of Jedi General Shaak Ti one day. Beside them are a Turbo Tank and Attack Shuttle, each with assorted crew.
Above are Razor Squadron, from Tartakovsky's micro-series. I imagine them as a Special Forces group, and so deploy Delta Squad and a pair of ARC Troopers on the gunship, along with a CW Plo Koon speeder bike.

Next up are the 41st Elite Corps Mechanized Division.
Made up of two Target Exclusive AT RT's, an AT DP, a Fighter Tank, and a (new!) Swampspeeder. Still planning on acquiring a few Kashyyyk troopers and maybe the larger version of the Fighter Tank. I have Saesee Tiin in command here as I think his figure from the LC was one of the coolest ever.

Here is my AT TE with crew. I have some plans for customs in the next few days, so stay tuned...
In the back is Boss (due to become Gregor...) and two Stealth Ops clones. The others are organized into squads led by Rex and Stone.

This is Shadow Squadron, based off the Malevolence arc of CW. I recently picked up a Kanan Y-Wing Scout Bomber for cheap off HTS to add on. PIlots are Matchstick with his gunner Goji; others will be painted soon to be the other members of the Squadron.
To the left are the 104th Battalion Mobile Artillery Division, led by Plo Koon and Commander Wolffe.

To finish up, here are the baddies.
Most of these are new additions to my collection, so I'm quite pleased to have found them all for reasonable prices around the web.
From right to left are an AAT and Scout Tank, commanded by a Tactical Droid. After that is a Hailfire Droid and squad of CW Super Battle Droids, led by a Commando Droid. Then is a Vulture droid with assorted droids, and last but not least is the CW repaint of the Droid Trifighter with Maul and Jabba.
I hope you liked browsing my collection, thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Hey folks! I'm home from school on a break and thought it would be a good time to breath some life back into this thread. I set up a tall bookcase and have each level sectioned off for a different set up. I also took advantage of the color printers at school to make some neat backgrounds which I cut out and glued onto some cardboard to reinforce them. I hope you like them!

Shelf 1: Christophsis feat. AAT, Whorm Loathsom, and three Super Battle Droids.

Shelf 2: Ryloth feat. Hailfire droid, Commando Droid, Tactical Droid, and the remnants of some other ambushed droids.

I've got two more shelves set up thus far, and I plan to stop by Home Depot this week to pick up some hardware to add a few more if possible. These scenes were a little more complex so I thought they deserved a few angles to showcase everything going on.

Shelf 3: Teth feat. Mobile Heavy Cannon, ARF Trooper as a gunner, Boost, Sinker and my custom Comet, with Plo Koon and Commander Wolffe on the other side with a hologram of Count Dooku!

Shelf 4: Coruscant Republic Military Headquarters feat. Chancellor Palpatine, Commander Thire, Commander Fox, and a Shock Trooper; Anakin, Commander Appo, 501st Airborne Trooper and a custom trooper, with a 501st AT RT and some clone troops to fill in the back.

Hope you like what I've got set up so far, and I welcome any and all comments and suggestions!

Wow, I haven't seen this part of your collection, yet. Now I know what I've missed! So many cool items! They look so great all together on display - I really like how you displayed them! My favourite pieces are the Clone Wars Republic Gunship & ARC-170 Starfighter, the Order 66 packs, the AV-7, Clone Turbo Tank, Swamp Speeder, AT-TE and Y-Wing...you got a very impressive collection of great stuff! Thanks for sharing these pics!

Thanks Philipp! I am proud of my collection, as its taken several years to amass! Some of it I gathered when I was younger, but the big vehicles were all acquired as I made and spent money as I got older. Glad you appreciate it!

Hey all, I finally got around to adding a few more shelves to this display. Once again, I looked for background photos in the highest resolutions I could find before printing them out and gluing them to cardboard to add some setting to these little displays.  Some of the figures are new, and I've accrued them over the last couple months - I'm particularly proud with the 501st display, as I just love those troopers! I always have but never owned any until recently. Take a look below some of the scenes I've tried to recreate.

This is the very top shelf of the shelving unit, and I've been planning making a mini-diorama of this scene ever since the 5POA Obi-Wan came out in TLJ line. The blast door and background panels are all from Frank Diorio's Diorama Workshop, and I really like the way they bring this scene to life. I found some scrap vinyl lying around my basement that I cut to fit the shelf for some simple black flooring.

I recently discovered the beauty and simplicity of the 2012-2013 Saga Legends Super Battle Droids. They're only 4POA technically, but I've always thought that Super Battle Droid figures had too much articulation to balance well, and all they really need to do is raise their arms to fire. Anyway, I picked up two of them recently to face off against Obi-Wan and the 212th on Utapau here.

Technically this display isn't new, I just changed it around a little.  The shock troopers are arrayed at attention while Chancellor Palpatine receives some kind of engineering technology from a Geonosian captured by Delta Squad. I got the commandos loose and piecemeal over the years, but I'm hoping to experiment with resin casting in the future and I'll try to fabricate some backpacks for Fixer and Sev.  In the background you can see some of the Republic military headquarters on Coruscant at night - I think it gives this whole set-up an air of secrecy.

Finally, I've got my 501st on Umbara.  This has become the most recent jewel in my collection, as I never hoped to find the Republic Fighter Tank in 501st deco, but stumbled across one on Ebay that a mom was selling for cheap. The troopers also work well together, and I'm just really happy overall with the composition and effect. The background is Umbara, taken from one of my all-time favorite arcs in the Clone Wars TV show. It's quite dark, but in one of the photos you can see some of the red plants and alien vegetation in the darkness.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you all like what I've got here!
