Mattel's "Jurassic World" Attack Pack Gallimimus and Dimorphodon Review:

Mattel's "Jurassic World" Attack Pack dinosaurs are the most basic dinosaurs available in the main 3.75" scale range. These small dinosaurs are not always in scale like the rest of the series but are great, low cost dinosaurs to help flesh out the line.

Most of the dinosaurs in the "Attack Pack" series share the same articulation- swivel shoulders/hips and a hinged jaw on the carnivorous dinosaurs. Some dinosaurs have additional articulation- the Dilophosaurus has hinged neck frills and the Gallimimus has a hinged neck. There is one exception to this assortment, articulation-wise and I will talk about it shortly.

I only picked up 2 figures from this assortment as the remaining figures are species that have been produced over and over again by other manufacturers. I have more than enough Velociraptors, Dilophosaurs, etc. so I focused on species that do not get a lot of toy love. I might get the more common species when they inevitably hit clearance, but they are not a priotity to me.

The first figure I will review is the Gallimimus. The Gallimimus is a 2-legged theropod dinosaur most famously known from the first "Jurassic Park" film as the dinosaurs running in a herd and displaying bird-like behaviors as noted by Dr. Grant before they were ambushed by the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Attack Pack Gallimimus is way underscaled when compared to the 3.75" figures. It is closer in size to the Raptors than the mush larger dinosaur that it was in the film and in reality. Scale discrepancy aside, it is still a cool little dinosaur figure. The articulation is very basic but the running pose it is sculpted in prevents the figure from being very useful for anything but being part of a herd in a diorama. The paint is very neat and clean.

The second figure I will review is the exception to the articulation rule I noted above and my favorite flying dinosaur, the Dimorphodon. The Dimorphodon is primarily known in the "Jurassic World" series as the small flying dinosaur that attacked Owen during the scene in which the Indominous Rex freed all of the pterosaurs from the aviary and they rampaged through the main thoroughfare of the park. The Dimorphodon has 5 points of articulation- hinged jaw, a ball hinged neck (very little motion aside from up/down due to the shape of the collarbone but you can get some head cocked to the side poses), ball hinged shoulders and a single jointed set of swivel hips (both legs move in tandem). The ball jointed shoulders allow for a great range of motion in the wings for dynamic posing. The paint apps are especially neat and clean on the Dimorphodons I have picked up.

The next figure I will review is the exception to the articulation rule I noted above and my favorite flying dinosaur, the Dimorphodon. For $8.99, these rather basic dinosaurs are not the best value you could get for your money, aside from the Dimorphodon, in my opinion. I think something this size would be $4.99 or so if not for the "Jurassic World" name on the packaging. However, they are the least expensive dinosaurs in the line so they will probably be scooped up by parents looking for an inexpensive toy for their kids.

The flying looks pretty neat. Yeah, I can see why you felt these are a bit steep.
