Chap Mei "Dino Valley" Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton set review:

This set comes in a hinged, locking T-Rex skull carry case, which in and of itself is quite nice. It is quite large and has diorama potential.

The skeleton is cast in a brownish grey color somewhat lighter than real life fossils and comes in 19 easily assembled pieces. The assembly is easy and the pieces go together without much force being required. It can also be disassembled just as easily. The assembled skeleton is quite large as you can see in the image with the 4" "Fortnite" action figure. The skeleton comes with a chocolate brown base with indentations for the feet to attach. The skeleton stands firm and balanced. There is also a small figurine of a man scaled to the skeleton and cast in the same color as the base, but I forgot to add it to the images. I plan on using the 2 sets I bought as bone clusters for future dioramas.

This is a pretty nice set at the $10 sticker price, but a fantastic set at the buy-one-get-one-free sale that Family Dollar is currently having. I am debating getting another pair of them before the sale ends on Saturday.

One of my non-action figure friends sent me these images she took at Marshall's.

I do not recall seeing this particular Chap Mei mold before. It is really cool looking, but too earthlike for my customizing needs.

It is that time of year again, Excite (Chap Mei) "U.S. Army" branded military playsets are hitting discounters and close-out stores.

These were seen at Forman Mills in Passaic, NJ.

I saw this Excite "U.S. Army" set at Forman Mills (NJ closeout chain) today, never saw this particular one before. Nothing new in it, just a weird layout.

These are pictured on the back of the new "Dino Valley" set, hopefully they appear in the US, since they have been available overseas for a few years.

The new large therapod (Allosaurus?) has sculpted feathers on its head, neck and back! I love that even smaller toy companies are acknowledging current scientific theory that most therapods were feathered!

Initially, I was really looking forward to the 3.75" "A.C.I.D. vs B.E.T.A." robot figures, but the more images I see of them, the less enthusiastic I am for them. They are really boxy and crude looking, like they are made from an outdated idea of what a future robotic soldier would look like. These would have been awesome figures if they were released in the 80s, but now they look kind of old fashioned. I may still grab one or a small number of them to be outdated, ancient droids in a Jawa junkyard or similar diorama.

I agree, kind of cartoony and klunky looking.

Chap Mei emergency vehicles at Big Lots and CVS (same packaging at both stores).

I believe these may be the same vehicles from the huge Walmart "Kid Connection" set from a few years back, but I am not 100% sure.

They are $12.99 each and come with a vehicle, figure and 2 accessory trees full of accessories.

EDIT: apparently these same sets are hitting Rite Aid stores for only $6.99 each.
