And here are the completed pics
No lights this time, just power from the track to the chip and from the chip to the motor. Some careful supergluing secures the chip to the frame which I modified a bit for room the same way as the super bird. I mounted the chip slightly cocked this time, to allow for room under the chip where the frame wouldn’t clear.
I lubed up the chassis and screwed it back together. Some rev time on the programming track let’s the brushes in the motor set a bit.
She is ready to race. You missed the Ferrari, I’ll have to open it up again.

Next up, another vintage evolution car I may have to modify in a different direction to fit the chip and have the light mounted in a good spot to trigger the track sensors

This car is in between 10 and 16 years old, long before the digital age of slot cars. Under hood detail, a lower floorboard to the interior, and an old style front axle box all leave me short of room to mount the chip in the normal direction so I’m going to try to spin it counter clockwise to the drivers side so the led is still on the same side of the car as normal, just an inch further back on the frame than normal. Reports say no difference is experienced with switching when mounted in this way so I’m going to try it here. The normal holes were bored for the switch and light with significant thinning to the inner frame in the drivers side to get the chip as low as possible.
  The interior lost its floorpan on the drivers side and the driver lost his legs as well to give top room over the chip. I’ll throw a scrap of cars stockbin there to cover the hole.

Got my card stock cut and glued into place along with the legless driver.
The chip track and motor connections are soldered and shrink wrapped,
I’m figuring my lights out now. Not much room and particular pass through spots for the plastic lenses are the problem. We will find something that will work. It’s a 69 camaro this time

I really admire how much effort and dedication you put into this hobby! Pictures tell how much work actually goes into it. Love all the details! The legless driver looks great in the Camaro!

   Max is already there, Shawn. This is the dirty version but the driver is probably still the same. Every car that I have got has a factory representation of a driver figure present. As of yet, I haven’t tried to augment any of the figures although I had a request to make a driving version of miss daisy duke here. I may be able to pull that off.
Got the duke boys driving their charger”that one is already chipped but that one still needs lights. We will come back to it” heck, I even have a trans am with a cowboy hatted Burt Reynolds at the wheel.
     At 1/32 scale, these smaller cars have a resource of figure fodder available from military model lines. A few slot car companies have some figure sets available as well.

  I really need to make a little display diorama for that one.
I debated and just crammed some factory led boards back between the rear screw housing and the rear faschia for the tail lights. I figured the fron would be a chore so make the back easy.
  I did drive the camaro on the track this afternoon for the first time in its digital state. It’s fairly squirrelly on the track in that it has more power than traction. Power and braking are adjustable in the digital world but I think those more than a decade old redline tires are needing replacement. I may experiment with an earth magnet to increase traction. All cars drive differently, like I said before. This one is too light in the rear end.

I’m back on the camaro

I chose some small square warm white leds for behind the head light inserts, some trimming of the front screw towers to make room was required. I carved two notches in the front of the frame to open more access to the fog light inserts. My plan is to glue these two amber tower led assemblies to the chassis, clearing the screw towers and pointing at an angle to the back of the inserts. How I’m going to cram all that wire and resistors under the body is a future puzzle.im hopeful.

I forgot to mention that during my test drive the other day, the lane switching and sensor pickup functions were fine with the chips alternative mounting direction.
