Vintage - From Past to Present - Last 17 and New Wave for 1979
« on: September 15, 2019, 01:21:27 AM »
Yesteryear, I followed some auctions on ebay Germany. A few figures of the “Last 17” were up for auction on this Saturday night.
And they were in extraordinary good shape. All parts and accessories are original.

So this is what they go for/what they are worth here in Germany.

I hope you enjoy just to look at those beautiful figures. And if you own them yourself, well, lucky you! ;)

So let’s start of with my absolute favorite:

Han Solo in Carbonite - LOVE that likeness. Kenner absolutely nailed the look of Harrison Ford back in ‘83...

SOLD for 70,11€ (~$74.32) plus 4,99€ shipping

So another friend of the squad sent me a link to a really cool custom fan project last night:

Here you have the chance to buy 13 all new Vintage style figures that could have been, but never were actually done.

You can buy them loose or carded.

I hope the “special offer” is affordable to you. I must say I can’t, but maybe there’s somebody out there who can. Loooks like they’re definitely worth the money.

They’re called The Fans Strike Back:

So what do you think? What are you expecting Hasbro to release in The Retro Collection? Does it bring some nostalgia to you or only confusion and bad feelings about this?

Let me know!

Have a good Sunday everyone! And as mama always said, go play outside for a while! Be nice to each other!

Spector Creative made a video of what Kenner had planned to continue the original Vintage line. I think he did some outstanding research and found some rather interesting material, most of which I hadn't known before.
To me the "dark times" began when Disney bought Lucasfilm and made the Sequels, but I figure these are the second dark times after the endless seeming gap between 1985 and 1995:

When Star Wars left the Toy Aisle. The long lost plans for a 1985 Kenner line extension post ROTJ

This should make for a nostalgic Sunday!

About the only time I can think of when I really felt the old vintage style toy nostalgia was when the POTF Line came out. I remember there being an entire aisle filled with it and an end cap. I haven't seen that type of real items since. Other than when the Legacy Line first came out and my local wal-mart had 50 cases of the McQaurrie IGGY Wave. That was nuts.
